I would like to start off the New Year with a message of heartfelt gratitude to you, the viewers for your reception to this. This was one of my early videos and it is truly humbling to discover so many people found joy and entertainment value in the presentation. Like many of you, I grew up in an era where a child had little to “work with” aside from their imagination and (if they’re lucky) a dirt pile. The ease and level of comfort with which I can discuss army men at length conveys what an important role they had in my life on a fundamental level. I am left with the impression the same can be said for many of you. I also very much appreciate the comments, reactions and subscriptions. The only thing I ask is that if you haven’t subscribed, please do, and check out my other videos. There’s a dedicated section among my playlists tab which I have titled “The All-American Army Men”. As the original title implies, this is an introduction, which means this video is just “the first wave”. Thanks again and stay tuned! -Jacob
I was born in 1953, so I played with them all. May favorites however, were the Louis Marx playset ones, Civil War, US Army and German ones. I also played with the Timee ones.
The best thing about these toys was how you were forced to use your imagination to pay with them. I remember using my imagination as I would make them aim at each other while visualizing scenes from Commando and other movies.
That is what I did in the 70s. I would set them up and throw things at them. Once I took a live rhinocerus beetle into my room, and let him walk around and knock them down. Good video. I collect painted soldiers now and have for over 20 years.
The 0wner of Timmy Toys was Roy Raymond a friend of my grandparents. When I was about 7 Mr.Raymond gave me a couple of pails full of soldiers right off the production line.
I remember playing with plastic army men i had different variations of them i had police men and firefighters, cowboyed and Indians and even pirates and skeleton pirates, I would also mix battles with lego figures and robots those were some good times🥹
Yes I remember the mix battles. I have a little sister, so She-Ra and Barbie sometimes got into the fray, usually as civilians that had to be protected.
Born in 67, grew up with Tim Mee Vietnam era figures and vehicles ...... outgrew them in the mid 80s ....... yup, uh huh ........ bout 5-7 years ago I found Victory Buy, as well as Armies in Plastic and it's been DOWNHILL from then on 🤣 ....... I still enjoy getting NEW soldiers, in NEW colors to set up and " PLAY " with .......I may grow old, but NEVER up ! 😁👍🇺🇸❤
My favorite are the Timmy toys WW2 soldiers. Before they switched to the vietnam era soldiers. I like the Timmy medic crew the nurse and dog. So much memories growing up in the 60's.
I recently ended up with a box of vintage army men from an estate sale. Going through them has brought back memories; when I was a kid, we would set up a battle and “be” one figure until it died, then be another. I was always the medic dog first…so thrilled to see a medic dog in your pile there!!
Did anyone see the cool army dog upper right? My mom got rid of ALL my army men! Here today gone tomorrow! Mom's are infamous for that! Wives carry on this vicious tradition as well! I'm Andy not Annmarie!
Good on you! There’s no reason to let go of stuff you find joy in. If you have time, I recommend an episode of “Amazing Stories” from the 80’s. The title is “Gather Ye Acorns”.
love the video.i have about 15000 army men in 1/35 scale of all types.maybe more been collecting for 60yrs.that odd weapon look like a johnson machinegun used by marines in 1940s. the odd soldiers at the end of video look like japan made.
SORRY ,I AM OLD MAN ,BUT I COULD NOT READ REPLY.MY TOTAL COLLECTION IS ABOUT 100000 SOLDIERS OF ALL SIZE.I ALSO HAVE MANY BOOKS ON HISTORY.I ALSO COLLECT WARGAMES,MODELS OLDER THEN YOU.I LOVE HISTORY,BUT MY FAMILY PLANS TO SELL THEM AFTER I JOIN MY BROTHERS.BE SAFE AND GOD BLESS@@derlisortega3829
I enjoyed the video. I have found a lot of army men and cowboy’s and Indian’s, in the dump I dig. I will have to look at them and see what kind they are. I also found one of those Archers, I looked him up because he was unusual to me. Found out this one was from the 1950’s.
Thank you! 😊 👍 If I see you post photos of anything I recognize on Instagram I’ll be sure to comment with my thoughts. The figurines I referred to as Archer are space men, Archer being the brand. If that’s what you found, congratulations! They’re pretty desirable.
@@countrydiggers the “Captain Video” figurine I show (the little red guy) has a helmet with a Roman comb type of deal on his helmet, kind of like Marvin The Martian from Looney Tunes. For whatever reason “space people” were depicted as Roman Legionnaires back in the day.
the short marx men came from the traing camp set late 50 my brothers had it. i been collecting toy soldiers for 60 years now .have about 100000 of all sides now.@@CollectorChronicles
You are good talker, that was really nice video, do you know the toy soldiers that were appeared in plastic apocalypse sabre tooth, these poses were called "schamrock poses" the guy lying with pistol for example, these are xtremely rare.
I was born in 1957 so I grew up in the 1960s. I remember having WW2 guys early, but Timmee soon over. I only had green guys so the Army Men had to fight the Cowboys and Indians, and they all died 40 times each as Winchesters and 6 shooters were no match for machine guns and bazookas. Just before I grew out of them I think I did get about 30 Germans and 12 Japanese. My son inherited mine and those of 2 of my cousins. My grandson really has a lot as he's now got different colors and styles. He probably has thousands. He has Allies and Evil Alliance. Allies: Green Timmee = American Tan Timmee and British = British WW2 Dark Green = Canadian WW2 Light Green = Australian Whiite Timmee = Israel Blue Timmee = SHIELD (also reads my old comics) Japanese = Japanese (after 70+ years and Godzilla movies the Japanese joined the Allies) Evil Alliance: German and Grey Timmee = Arab Coalition Red Timmee = North Korea Black Timmee = Cuba Pink Timmee = Hydra (because it's the sissy color) Maroon Russians = Russians He's also recently gotten the Army Women sets in several colors. Allies always win as they have superior numbers, and 90% of the armor, and airpower, also non moving soldier sized pvc figures of Superman, Batman, Thor, Captain America, and the Hulk. LOL Somehow, I don't think the bad guys have a chance.
Sounds like they’re ready for “the big one”! I think a popular set of figurines are actually supposed to be Canadians (maybe Brits). I’m sure you know the ones. One guy has a Sten gun throwing a grenade. They’re pretty ubiquitous as modern recasts from Asia. As far as the pink Tim-Me, I want to say they were at Walmart with aliens. You might remember the crab guy with pincers. 😬😂 Thanks for your interest and keeping the tradition alive! 👍👍
Well, he wants to get more Air Power and Artillery. He figures he has enough soldiers. Oh, and the bad guys get Dinosaurs. It's pretty one sided in favor of the 'Good Guys' anyway.
@@bladestar2322 when it comes to the “army men” version of aircraft it gets a bit tricky. You gotta use your imagination and pair up 1/76 scale unless you want to invest time and money in gigantic model kits 😂
Well, it's all smaller in scale when it comes to armor and aircraft. He has tons of Timmee Tanks and Armored Cars which are small, he only has 2 bigger tanks. Same with his Air Force. He got a lots of his different colored ones from BMC Toys. He also has 2 of each color of the Spacemen they offer. Those have the Turtle like alien with claws I believe. He also has Knights, Revolutionary War, Civil War, Alamo, and Spanish-American War. I don't even want to think about how many he has. He inherited a lot from my side of the family, my son-in-law also had a big Collection, and he uses his Birthday and Christmas money on more.
Interesting collection. It would be neat to see 1 of each pose that you have from each manufacturer, sorted, instead of all in one pile. I know how that is though!
I use to have Some of those soldiers i remember back in the 70s. Airfix we're about the best but there was always alternative like the green soldiers in clear plastic packet like you msy see today and the ones in this video. I remember the M-16 soldiers well. Unfortunately i don't have them anymore. As a young kid i didn't have the choice of dragging all my toys with me whenever we moved back and forth overseas. I still have memories of those toys i used to have. Now i collect model Aircraft and a variety of other type toys not many in soldiers except model military soldiers 1/35 scale. But my memory says i wis i had my toys back from the 70s. Thats a lot of soldiers you have there. Back in the day they we're made in Hong Kong. They were not bad . I even had the copies of Airfix German infantry and American marines and id find them in a chemist shop and news agency and occasionally at a local milk Bar shop.I had more of those than Airfix that were and still is top brand.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
I recently was given a army man's dreambox. I grew up playing with my army men and had a friend who also collected them. I remember we would start early on a summer day fortifying are army's and this was during Vietnam war. He usually took the slope and I a plate. Hours of labor to end with thrown rock and later firecrackers. My comment is about the box. It has older and detailed plastic men and you can tell the older ones by the thickness. Also I have cast metal soldiers and even British military parade plastic soldiers. They were early 60s and from England. Is there a good reference book because I am going to make this grow. I also received a lot of model ww2 ships and cars
@@CollectorChronicles I like the Timmy old army men. WW2 soldiers. I see you have some in that bag you showed first. Those are my favorite ones. I have quite a few already from E-Bey.
