- In today's video we test the SkyRC SR5 vs the NEW Losi ProMoto-MX. The SR5 has been around for years, but can it keep up with the new Losi ProMoto in top speed? Watch and find out... Thanks for watching guys.
Just to clear up a few things guys...
1) Cut scenes while turning around were strictly to save you my awful attempts at turning around in the road. 😂
2) The Losi will absolutely (or should) be an objectively better bike, given advances in tech and development time. 👍
3) I will run a side by side test once the new bike comes in.
4) Bear in mind that the design of the SkyRC is YEARS old... I'm not saying in any way, shape, or form that the SR5 is the "better" bike. In fact, I fully expect the Losi to be. 🤙
5) The "downhill" is extremely gradual here by my house. When running other vehicles here vs other areas, I've seen no difference in speed.
I was mainly curious what the top speed would be and figured this was a good time to find out. 😜 Anyway, thanks for watching! 😎 🍻
The SR5 is excellent just don't get the ESC wet. It will die. :) Mine is still going great. I mainly run on grass oval and lots of fun. I filled the head with hotglue as they break off if you do back flips.

I got my Losi Promoto MX to 56 mph using a 24T motor pinion and a 3D printed 30T rear chain sprocket. It accelerates like a fat dog now. And no power to go over grass. Time to find a high KV outrunner motor in the 4600 kv range. That way it will have lots of torque and most likely can hit 80mph. I know a motor that might work. It's a tough design to upgrade without having a 3D printer until manufacturers one up with upgrades. I have the Sky Rc, the promoto is hands down much more realistic and fun. I also have the Exceed rc dirtbike which is awesome too.

I really like my SR5, I bought it in 2016 and still regularly use it without issue except the need to hot glue the rider at it's head and waste now and again. It can turn in a 3 feet radius with correct speed and bank management, use the braking to slow the bike at the end of each speed run and it will turn around within half of the road width easily. I was surprised you only got 42mph on full throttle passes with 3s, without monitoring it, I'd say mine is way over that on tarmac. I rarely give it full beans though as any tumble means fairly big rider damage. The only replacements I have done in 7 years are the rider, fairing and chain with spare gears in case they're required. A good durable RC bike. I would consider the Losi up to date model but they're reported to being over £700 here in the UK which is more than I'm willing to pay for it.

I've had the same exact issue with his head popping off. 🤣 Currently it is gorilla glued on, and seems to be holding. 👍 Another RUclipsr told me to verify my throttle trim, so I'm going to confirm that's not out of whack later. If it is ill definitely rerun the test! 😜 I know what you mean about giving it the beans. Mine will backflip easily if you ramp up to full throttle too quickly... I try to avoid that...lol
@@WeissRC I'll have to try Gorilla glue as my hot glue repair needs to be done back at home each time. Epoxy works on the rider too...👍

No the reely dirt bike is a Arx 540 clone same bike as the x rider both cloned from Arx 540 they were made by an Italian company arracing or armoddelling they went out of business a good few years ago the sky rc is a Chinese bike company,the reely x rider and skyrc have the gyro in the wheel the new losi has it in the frame, before ar racing went out of business they were working on a new model with the gyro in the frame Arx 3d look it up on RUclips 👍it looked very promising but I think sales was the issue

Does it turn around okay ,or do you have to keep going and picking it up every time ??
Turns around just fine as long as you keep a little speed! And the stabilizers keep you upright anyway. 👍👍

Someone recently posted a Promoto speed test at 53MPH. It doesn't matter, ill buy SR5 too as every video i have watched proves it's very capable, just doesn't look as scaled as the moto pro. Can't go wrong with owning two stable motocross bikes lol.
You're absolutely right about that! 😜 I wonder what they did to the ProMoto to hit 53mph? I'm guessing it was geared up at the very least...haha
@@WeissRCprobably, there is a lot of room in there to play around with gearing, i have the green one, also own an sr5 & sr4, my favorite bike, is my atomik 450, (got a few foam drivers) 😝 i own the vemon versions as well, (still in box) never ran. I love anything RC, however i wish there was a lot more to pick from. Awesome content brother😉👍🏽💯

@@WeissRC ya man been doing this hobby since the early 90’s (showing age) 😂, had a few offers on the Vemon 450 bike (still in box) however it was good, i didn’t want to sell, got a lot of trucks/cars & boats as well, this hobby is very addictive 😜, great videos keep them coming! Brushless motors, amazing speed control, waterproof everything... none of the stuff existed when I was young (I'm showing my age now, too! 😅😭
Will it turn okay , 2:08 or do you have to keep going and picking it up ??
There is certainly a technique to turning and I've gotten pretty good at it on the grass... unfortunately not on the road tho at the time of this video. The other thing to note is that I'm on the stock gyro setting and there are 4 of them. It will turn easier on a lower RPM gyro setting. 👍
I think a straight away would get you more speed. The moto looks great!

@robertwolf861 lol no excuses, simple facts. It's going to be exactly like trying to race the Kraton 6s. Wheelies for days and can't get the power down. 😆 Either way will still be fun! I think we'll have to do a roll race anyway, considering they'll have to start upright. 😜

I was actually thinking of buying the Sky RC bike until I saw news of the new Losi bike. I put off buying the Sky RC. I must admit that the 42MPH run does not look very impressive, considering the Losi bike the RC sailors ran, was running on 2S. And that one got 42MPH. I just preorder the Losi bike. I do have a few other RC bikes. I own two, X-rider BX-4003/4004 bikes. They also go by the name of ARX-540. They are just like the Sky RC bike. A gyro in the rear wheel, and chain driven. I have one of them modified. I gear up to a 14T pinion and changed the servo to a stronger one. I also have a wheelie bar on it.
Completely agree man! 👍 This test was just for fun since I was curious, and bc the Losi just came out. Objectively, the Losi will be a much better bike. Had I known it was coming out I would have probably waited and snagged that one instead.
But yeah, it's obviously much newer and has been in development for years. It should be a better, much more advanced bike. 😎 Truth be told, I'll probably be picking one up at some point here. 😜 Anyway, thanks for watching and for the comment! 😁🤘

42 mph downhill with a cut-scene for almost every turnaround. Why is that? This is not impressive on 3s at all.
Cut scenes were only to spare you guys my awful attempts at turning around in such a narrow space. 😂 I could have certainly left them in, but would have made the video longer and more boring. 🤷♂️ As for the downhill, it's much more gradual than it looks on video. Thanks for watching! 🤘
The other thing I'd say is important to bear in mind is that the design of this bike is years old. I have no doubt the Losi will be an objectively better bike, given its development time and advances in tech. 🤙

@micklariviere like I mentioned in my other comment, turning around is a chore and I didn't want to bore everyone...lol. With the bike as far away as it was, my dumb ass kept getting confused with orientation and would turn the wrong way. 🤦♂️ I could have left them in, but with people's short attention span these days decided to take them out. 😜
