Hi. I just subscribed from Australia. I watched your move in vlog and now this one. I’m 66 btw. I would definitely buy a small table and a chair for the kitchen, probably folding ones, then you could move them around to the other room and also put them on the balcony if you want to sit out there and study or eat. Also if you want to eat or cook something you can use your kitchen. I would definitely buy at least 1 cooking pot or fry pan, and basic plate, cup, utensils etc. You never know if you could be unwell one day and you could just use those to make and eat a basic meal. Noodles, eggs, or a hot drink. You can boil water in the saucepan, or get a small kettle. Also please buy some basic first aid things, even just a packet of bandaids and pain tablets. There’s nothing worse than having to drag yourself out to get something when you are sick. Best of luck to you. Wish I had done this when I was young!

The first aid thing I had to learn the hard way, cu5 my finger while cooking on a Sunday night , I had to walk to the hospital. Finger is fine but it was not a good experience, I have a first aid kit now.
envious that you don't have much. We live in a large 2 bedroom apt here in Canada. My husband & I have been together 26 years, and have collected so much over the years. Working on purging and sorting things now....hard because my husband has trouble letting go of things. Even if he hasn't seen or used it in 10 years. If I had my way, more than half of it would be gone.
Yes that is an emergency escape. If there is a fire in the building. You need to kick that down to get to the balcony where you can either climb or slide down. Depending on the setup with your building. The owner of the YT channel A Micro Apartment Life showed what is needed to do in a couple of his videos. Usai has alot of videos showing micro and mini apartments. I live in northern Minnesota. Though when I lived in the TC. I remember my late ex mil hanging clothes outside in the winter. Also, in the coldest area of Russia. They hang their clothes in -75 degree weather outside.
You’ve got to eat well and sleep well. My favorite futon is wool wrapped, it’s a little stiff but super comfortable. Why move the futon? The Japanese have some odd ideas on food…
Definitely very interested in the garbage recycling video. I'm curious if different areas have different rules because of what processing facilities are available for each area... I suspect they do. I'm also very interested in _daily_ food. Many content creators show particularly nice places to eat, so a more daily yet still varied meal plan would be very interesting.
It's so nice to go grocery shopping and thinking about meal plans here in Japan! As the vegetables are especially fresh and nice and seasonal products get so much display :)
@@kiraku_ni yeah back in Germany I love buying groceries and cooking. I’m just busy as hell in Japan, but I’ll for sure make some time for that too soon
@@bernoGarcia Oh I hope that things will calm down for you here in Japan! It's one of my biggest joys to cook here :D For me, it's really calming, but of course, it also takes some time :/
Dude, it took me like 5 seconds to use google translate to figure out what that text is on the panel in your balcony. You were correct, it's an emergency exit. Here is what it says. "In case of emergency, you can break this and escape to the next door. Do not place any objects in this area. There are evacuation equipment ahead." Might be a good idea to hang your laundry elsewhere!
Thanks for the comment. I came to Japan the first time in 2017 as an exchange student in Uni. Fell in love in the culture and language then. Trying to become good at Japanese. What do you like about Japan? Thanks for watching
A day in life would be nice, also with ehat you eat. PS: Which kind of visa do you have and how long do you plan to stay in Japan. Sorry if you answered, but I just discovered your channel 😊
hey Lukas, thanks a lot for your comment and watching the video. I came here on a student visa to study Japanese at a language school. I have the VISA for 1 year. What's gonna happen after that I don't know yet. Also thanks for the video recommendations
Perhaps you should watch vloggers currently posting about living in Japan. In Tokyo and suburbs, particularly. They teach a lot and their styles appeal to multigenerational and multicultural communities. I’m a 73 year old expectant grandmother who has gotten my 46 year old Chicagoan City son, my daughter-in-law and their friends, hooked on their vlogs.
Hey thanks for the comments. I actually did a lot before coming to Japan. Love to watch other creators. Always a big inspiration. Thanks a lot for sharing my Videos appreciate it.
Interesting to see how people want the "daily life" stuff, before I started RUclips I thought people will want the "sensational" ... "3 things to do..... I survived on 20$....kind of videos". Thanks for your comment, garbage video will come haha
@@bernoGarcia I think, there are more people, who want to know the "daily life stuff", than you think. How to recycle in Japan, what to observe if you want to get rid of bulk trash, what do you need to think of if you want to rent an apartment in Japan and so on is much more interesting than the one millionth video about "10 top places in Japan", "How to flirt/date in Japan", etc.
Also, awesome video! Your place looks nice and minimalistic, very comfortable! :D For future content to produce... well, only you can answer that, but I will mention that I went off Abroad in Japan a bit because his stuff became unrelatable. While he was doing basic stuff it was fascinating, but when he started going on rich yachts and hitting the fancy tourist spots it got a bit boring. Tokyo Lens does amazing content, check him out if you havn't already. Talking of which, he's done a couple videos about digging around the 'Hard Off' range of shops, which are basically second-hand stuff. Might be able to get cost-effective things in them, with some digging?
Thanks so much for the advice. I totally feel this. I think Abroad in Japan is a great and entertaining channel but it has become a bit too "sensational" for me. (Which is very good when you are new to Japan and know nothing). I might try a few "sensational" videos here and there, but this wouldn't add much value in my opinion because there are already great creators doing that. I want to add a different side to the "Japan content" field. Tokyo lens I have only checked out a few videos so far but I'll dig more into that for inspiration. About the "hard off" idea, I actually visited a "second hand shop" to get a chair for my desk. Video is in the editing and will come soon. Again thanks for taking the time.
The Electricity is on...Hope he got a washer/dryer.....That bed is ok for now...but hope he buy a futon off Amazon that is like a little couch...If he has company where will they sit...
New subscriber here! Lovin' your channel so far 👍Just a suggestion here...why not rent an apartment without a kitchen? Seeing's how you do not use or need one, it would save you money! Otherwise, keep up the good work!
Hey thanks for your comment. Japanese is actually my 4th language. And I’ve already lived for a year in Japan many years ago. I’m pretty confident to improve a lot this year 💪🏻thanks for watching. What you like about Japan ?
New subscriber here. Love ❤ your style of blogging. Looking forward to how they recycle in japan, buying a refrigerator? Internet wifi price?, how you pay for electricity, buying food in japan$$$, cooking german food😂, eating out in japan, living in Japan and how the Japanese feel about thier country and lots more. 🎉. Also keep it to a minimum i feel that you could go to another good safe country, another good safe area and find a similar cheap affordable small apartment to show us 💡How to live for cheap in different areas of the 🌎. Just an idea but i think your channel could go far with what "YOU DO". Because it is not how it is done...., its always HOW it was done. You did a great job. Thanks for sharing.
I have learned a lot about living in Japan (both by Japanese and Filipino vloggers) simply by watching vlogs on this subject. Perhaps a suggestion may be to watch them as well. Please take this advice from a 73 year aged American woman who also hopes to study Japanese. Someday soon. 😊
Great video and very inspiring. I’m currently learning German and I’d love to live in Germany for a year. However I am not young so it may not happen. 🤷♀️ Or maybe it will! 😊 Anyway, thank you for the inspiration.

Was interessiert dich an Japan sonst noch so?
Why not get a necklace microphone instead of a handheld one? Also, a small microwave and some microwave urptensils will be hseful. You can make tea, coffee, cook rice, steam vegetables etc. Warm food as well. A draining board for your washed cup, mug, plates too.

Dam that is a very small place to live in. My flat UK South is 2 times bigger and I still find my place to being to small. Guess I should learn how to live in a minimal way like you and most of the Japanese do. Wish I did not buy so much crap for my flat, but now I have all of it, I just can't seem to get rid of any of it. No I am not a junk collector, my floor space is open in all areas, its the furnishings and books (3000+ books) and 800+ DVD's that takes up most of the space. Well done in starting this channel and look forward to seeing how you recycle your stuff in Japan, as here, recycling is not that good at all, most people do not care about recycling at all, which makes sense as loads of plastics with the no.2 or 3 on them can not yet be fully recycled in the UK.
Hey thanks a lot for your comment and support. Same, when I lived in Germany I had a lot of stuff too. Which is not bad, having an everything make a place comfortable. At the same time having little makes me personally feel more "free". I guess finding a balance would be the best right? Have you been to Japan? What interests you about Japan?

ANOTHER VIP THING: thatwall with all the Kanji on it is the door/cover to a ladder for you to be able to escape in an emergency--Matsuko told me that!!! SO...move your rack to dry clothing to somewhere else! ALSO ask someone to tell you HOW to open it! I have never been to Fukoka--what is it like? Large advanced city? PLZ MAKE COMPARISONS TO GERMANY! Maybe that $400 rent is special for students? Are you hoping to become a movie director...or film editor? RSVP Why did you decide to study NIHON GO? Are you allowed to work?

The door in your veranda is an emergency exit, you can break it though. You have to keep the space away from any objects that will block your way out.
I figured out so. Neighbor on the other side has it blocke anyway. Guess I'll have to climb down to the neighbor haha
envious that you don't have much.
I’d be like your neighbor and add many plants everywhere 😂 but the simple home without clutter sounds great to me too. Good luck, enjoy Japan 😊
Thanks so much for the comment and watching, appreciate it. I might get a tiny cactus too. Haha they are easy to handle.
Thanks for watching. My neighbour has blocked the other side with big plants anyway. Let’s hope for the best haha
@@bernoGarcia You could talk to the landlord about the blockage. So the Landlord can reprimand the renter of that unit.
You’ve got to eat well and sleep well. My favorite futon is wool wrapped, it’s a little stiff but super comfortable. Why move the futon? The Japanese have some odd ideas on food…
Thanks for watching, the futon turned out to be very comfy ☺️
Looks cozy!
It is, thank you 🙏🏻
That seems like a great place to live. Thank you for your consideration. You have more figured out than you might think.
Thank you for the kind words
Definitely very interested in the garbage recycling video. I'm curious if different areas have different rules because of what processing facilities are available for each area... I suspect they do.
I'm also very interested in _daily_ food. Many content creators show particularly nice places to eat, so a more daily yet still varied meal plan would be very interesting.
Thanks for your comment. Got it, I'll make both videos :D
It's one of my biggest joys to cook here :D For me, it's really calming, but of course, it also takes some time :/
@@kiraku_ni I miss making salads, so I’ll definitely get into that soon. What do you cook in Japan? Japanese ?
Dude, it took me like 5 seconds to use google translate to figure out what that text is on the panel in your balcony. You were correct, it's an emergency exit. Here is what it says.
"In case of emergency, you can break this and escape to the next door. Do not place any objects in this area. There are evacuation equipment ahead."
Might be a good idea to hang your laundry elsewhere!
Thanks for looking it up. The other side is blocked with my neighbors plants anyway. Let’s hope for the best 😂
Get yourself a nice foldable chair for your balcony. Make yourself comfortable, it’s your HOME!!
What reasons did make you study japanese? Nice video.. I like learning differences in living abroad in different countries. All the best 😊
I will take every video about everyday life, that I could get. That means, the garbage recycling one, too!
@@KardoganLR Thanks, this is very encouraging. I'll keep making the "regular" Videos then ahah xD
You are so very sweet & I think the way you have set up your drying rack & pole is simply excellent (but is it allowed?). Best of Luck!🍀🕊🤞🏻
Also, awesome video! Your place looks nice and minimalistic, very comfortable! :D
For future content to produce... well, only you can answer that, but I will mention that I went off Abroad in Japan a bit because his stuff became unrelatable.
Just subscribe from the Philippines. You are lucky your apartment is huge complete all you need.
Yes I am blessed with this apartment. Thanks for watching. Would love to go to philippines one day. Seems like a great place with great food.
I would love to live there.
Tell me how ?
i would need more padding on the floor for that bed!!
The Electricity is on...Hope he got a washer/dryer.....That bed is ok for now...but hope he buy a futon off Amazon that is like a little couch...If he has company where will they sit...
I totally agree less is best ....😊
New subscriber here! Lovin' your channel so far 👍Just a suggestion here...why not rent an apartment without a kitchen? Seeing's how you do not use or need one, it would save you money! Otherwise, keep up the good work!
It usually takes 6-7 years to be fluent in a second/third language. 😅 But a year in the country gets you off to a very good start.
Hey great to hear you want to learn Japanese. It's a very rewarding experience give it a try.
Very nice , I’m all the in Hawaii . I am Japanese but never been there
I'm so curious about Japanese in Hawaii, I have never been to Hawaii. Thanks for watching
Great video and very inspiring. I’m currently learning German and I’d love to live in Germany for a year. However I am not young so it may not happen. 🤷♀️ Or maybe it will! 😊 Anyway, thank you for the inspiration.
Oh you are learning German? Interesting! Since when? How difficult do you think it is? And yes, please visit Germany it's great. I recommend Berlin and Hamburg. Don't let age stop you please.
@@bernoGarcia Yes.. I started last year but had to stop and restarted a couple of months ago. I’m just using an audio book but I found out there’s PDF’s to use with it so hopefully it will progress some more. I think it’s confusing sometimes but most of it makes sense to me. Remembering it is another thing all together! Hopefully I will get to Germany sometime in the future. Thanks for your recommendations 🙏🏼
@@joanneh6879 sounds awesome . Don’t worry about speed. I also paused learning Japanese for a couple of years. The path is the aim. Have fun with it and thanks for watching
Do they have combo washer/dryers you can use? In the winter it would be hard to get the clothes dry. I am from St.Louis, Missouri
Hey thanks for your comment and watching the video. Yes you can buy such combo machines. I don't have one , so I look forward to the struggle haha.
I didn't see a refrigerator in the first vid or this vid.
Is there no fridge? How do you keep milk and perishables?
Bonito apartamento 😉
Was interessiert dich an Japan sonst noch so?
@@bernoGarcia Kein Problem 👋

Why not get a necklace microphone instead of a handheld one? Also, a small microwave and some microwave urptensils will be hseful. You can make tea, coffee, cook rice, steam vegetables etc. Warm food as well. A draining board for your washed cup, mug, plates too.
1. Not "barbaric" at all! I would do it 1000% no question.
2. Yes, make the content you want, your way... that's why we're here and others will find you too.
Thanks for the kind words and watching ☺️

Hallo gothodoxy,
Woher kommt dein Interesse für Japan?
An apartment that size in my home state of Colorado, USA would cost $1200 a month! 😱
I’m trying to imagine sleeping with the windows open where i live. Spiders, snakes, mosquitoes, moths… You wouldn’t be able to move for bugs.
Totally get it, my parents are from Ecuador and I've spent there quite some time. No windows open there at night either haha
is the washing machine washing well?
yes it washes surprisingly well.
Get a table, chairs, sofa fridge and bowls not plates) utensils and a microwave, and upgrade the bed, what if you "get lucky", you need better 😁
Thanks for watching. Upgraded a futon to a thicker one, love sleeping on the floor :)
Where is your fridge? Did I miss it?
How did you survive with $20? I would like to know. Show the night life in Japan and other interesting things.

WOW! Only $400! How did you get the electricity turned on? We lived in Osaka and had a smaller old Japanese 1 room apartment with a Japanese squat toilet separate!!! SO you are very MODERN MAN! Lucky! Nihon go musakashi??? I failed to learn the language...but I married a Japanese woman Matsuko who was eager to learn/improve her English.
Oooh, one big mistake! When you move into a Japanese apratment you buy little bottles of dish soap or something similar and go door to door and introduce yourself and get to know who your neighbors are!!!
