Please please try ube cupcakes
I’d frost coconut cupcakes or coconut cake with that Uber dressing. Looked tasty 🐣🐇💕
Recipe of the ube custard please❤
Red👉🥟🍙
I never had Ube before, but if I get my hands on some, I will make this recipe! Looks amazing
They sell it at basically ever Asian market which is where I get mine! I will warn you the Ube itself doesn’t provide much of the flavor as must as the extract does which can be around $20 for a little bottle
It’s rly hit or miss depending on how you’re eating it. Sometimes I like what’s done with it, sometimes I can’t handle it
@@AutumnLoki
20 bucks?!?! What state are you in?
Ube ice cream is a safe choice but sometimes it's not ube enough.
@@liviloo87 the barren wastelands of northern Michigan
I legit have never tasted anything with ube before but this makes my mouth water so much, it's not helping my sweet tooth much either. It's my favourite ube recipe so far.
I think ube ice cream is a safe introduction to ube but be sure to get a good one though. Sometimes the flavor is not there. Like someone said, it's hit or miss, I think it's cause they don't use enough of the flavor or they mixed it with something not complementary. Ube can easily be overpowered by other flavors. It's earthy and subtle. To me, it's all about the aroma.
@@avariceseven9443 Thank you, it's really helpful.
@@shirtwhatthefork6534 it’s like a sweet potato kind of with a hint of a different flavor 😅
@@avariceseven9443 damn that’s the best description of ube i’ve seen, it’s really accurate that’s exactly how it tastes!
@@Kelzxzzx I do enjoy sweet potato, maybe I'll like this too.
In Brazil we call these "Sonho" (dream). We fill It usually with custard or doce de leite (or dulce de leche for the spanish speaking folks).
Malasadas we’re introduced in Hawaii by the Portuguese! In fact, even the Leonard’s sign says pão doce
@@Jeanelleats That makes all the sense! Its awesome to watch your channel and see so many things Hawaiian and Filipino (mostly filipino) culture has to Brazil... And then I remember the reason why is it like that lol
@@Anzy.99 Wait, were the Philippines also colonized by the Portuguese before Spain came in?
And in Venezuela is called BOMBAS! 💣 Yeah , idk why 😂 must be the shape, is also filled with custard cream or arequipe (dulce de leche). Idk who introduced them there but it was prob. also the portugueses since there were loooot of bakeries owned by them. This version with a type of ñam is smth I'd never imagined tho, and purple! 💜 😂 Awesome
@@ginandromeda1618 I don't think the portuguese ever colonized the philipines, but they did get there before the spaniards. they also got to japan before any other western* european country
In Germany we call them Berliner. Well its not made with UBE but you get the point
Yum! I’ve not yet had an authentic Berliner. Maybe one day soon!
Krampfen 😂😂
This looks so good 😭😭😭 there’s never enough filling in the doughnuts i buy so this ratio is perfect lol
All these Ube recipes make me miss my late grandfather. Ube ice cream was his favorite thing ever.
May he rest in peace, sorry for your loss.
Mmmm this one looks so tasty! I might have to make this sometime 🤤
Do it! It’s yummy
In Germany we have something similar which is known under many names "Berliner" being the most common. We usually fill them with marmalade and cover them in sugar
Ube malasadas might be the winner of this series for me
i left oah’u 8 years ago, just hearing the word “malasada” sent chills through my body
That looks DELISH, Jeanelle!! Thanks for sharing ....
Btw, is UBE PASTILLAS on the list? I'd luv to see your version.
Yummy, they look so delicious 😋.
The spinning wheel really got me, it's super cute.
YO UBE MAJA BLANCA SOUNDS GOOD wish it gets picked next
OOO YES!!!
Naah, thats yuck
She can use the ube condensed milk for the recipe too!
In the Azores we also make malasadas, pretty sure they are originally from São Miguel which is an island part of the Azores.
I'm telling you this is the first recipe in this series that made me crave it so bad! I mean I'm a huge fan of donuts so it's obvious I'm gonna gulp this down if I get my hands on some.
I love Madasadas. I especially love the ones at Tex drive INS.
"Malasadas" sounds Filipino. So this recipe is portuguese but somewhat similar to the Berliner of Germany.
In Iloilo in the Philippines, we call soft boiled eggs, "malasado nga itlog". Learning that "malasada" is portuguese, the word "malasado" in Ilonggo is probably spanish influenced, since portuguese and spanish are closely similar.
This donut has probably got it's name from soft-boiled egg since it has a moist filling like that of a soft boiled egg.
Funny story about Malasadas, so I always thought this was a made-up created food, cause in Pokemon Sun & Moon, it takes place on hawaiian-like islands, and I thought, “aww! This is so cute, a treat we can feed to our Pokémon” and my globs, when I watched your trips to Hawaii & trying out malasadas, I was like, THEYRE REAL???? I thought it was a made up food from Pokémon! But it all made sense! Hawaiian like islands, malasadas! Hawaii was truly an inspiration for Pokémon Sun & Moon. And that’s my favorite memory of your channel & Pokemon realization xD
Yeah I was the same way lol. I never knew they were actually real.
I'm here half for the purple tasty stuff and half for your excited voiceovers
I love anything ube
That looks incredible
New subcriber.. . 😊
Like healty food .. . Good for mommy and specialy for kids.. .
Yes please!❤
😭😭😭😭 that looks so good 🛐
That looks like the best thing in the wolrd… wow!!! ❤
A funny side story:
In Germany, most people call this a “Berliner” which also is the word for a citizen of Berlin
That’s why it’s called “Pfannekuchen” in Berlin ,so people wouldn’t think they’re eating people.😂
But this word is already used by the rest of Germany for Crêpes
And that’s why Crêpes in Berlin called “Eierkuchen” which is translated as Eggcake😂
I want to make these. This looks delicious!
Here in Portugal in the Azores specifically we also make those and we also call them malassadas, its typically done around carnival, although adding flavours and stuffing with cream it's definitely not traditional
That looks soooooooooooooo good! I. Any wait to try to make this 💜💜💜💜
CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE UBE CAKE NEXT I'VE ASKED FOR A VERY LONG TIME NOW 😭😭😭😭
My favourite recipe so far in this series 😋
The only thing I think when I hear Malasada is Alola Region in Pokemon Sun & Moon🗿
Good to know its from Hawaii
It's actually from Portugal, they were introduced to Hawaii by the Portuguese islanders from Madeira and the Azores brought over to work on the sugar plantations and became practically Hawaiian. The Portuguese versions usually arent filled though.
Ube cake is DEVINE
These 2 ladies I work are from the Philippines
Oh these look delicious
They look so good!

This is also a dish that my Portuguese grandmother makes and it is so good
mala-ube buchi, but better. Try ko nga yarn! Salamat bebs.
The carnival is also one way Punahou funds its scholarships so students from low-middle income families can afford to go.
It’s a great time, and the money (for the school-ran parts, not so much the rented rides and food-trucks) goes to a good cause. Basically, if it’s high school students, aunties, and uncles running it, the money is helping the school, its students, and the community!
I want some, that's looks so GOOD 😭
In Argentina we got something similar, it is called ✨bola de fraile✨ and i love it
It’s similar to Bolas de Berlim in Portugal (the appearance, because we don’t use ube to make them)!
I LOVE MALASADAS
Ube maja blance. That's a good one, my neighbors made it before for their baby's birthday and it was good like mmmm. Definitely can't wait to see if the arrow lands on it.
It's like sonho, a fried Sweet dough we made in Brazil.
I LOOOOOVE ube that I wanted you to make all of the recipes in the wheel 😭 plssss
I’ve had Ube ice cream before and it was sooo good
I love you recipes, keep them coming!
Omg a Ube lovers dreammm 😍
Wow that looks phenomenal!❤❤
A local mochi donut shop does weekly flavors, and there’s one I tried two weeks ago I’m still thinking about.
It was a mochi ring glazed donut, and it was topped with ube icing and fruity pebbles sprinkles.
My sister, son, and I unanimously agreed that it tasted like what you would think a childhood memory would taste like. I personally immediately thought, Saturday Morning Cartoon.
Omg these look SO good
Looks tasty
Ube malasada 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪
We call those bolas de fraile or berlinesas here in Argentina! They're usually sold at the beach
So I've never had ube before but I had a version of these, my dad used to work at Aloha Cafe and brought me these and musubi and they are so good
Ur making me hungry 😩😩😩
MAJA BLANCA OMG i remember making that in my grade 3 culinary club
I would die for some Ube conchas 😭🫶🏽
Day 2 of asking for UBE SOUFFLE💜!! Those look absolutly delicious!
Ube flan sounds good
Here in Brazil we have a similar food called "sonho"
i remember my mom making these but with cheese filling. SO GOOD
Malasadas are also a Portuguese thing! ☺️👆
YOOOO that’s so crazy jeanelle is making recipes from schools from my home!!! and even a 20-30 minute drive away this is so amazing Punahou is one of many great private schools we have here, everyone loves and goes to the Punahou carnival every year and it’s just so fun for alums or friends or anyone
My nerdy Pokemon-loving self got real excited just now.
YAAAYYYYYYY MY SCHOOL GOT A SHOUTOUT!!!
I was watching this while I was eating ube halaya mindlessly 😂
I remember these back when Ash Ketchum went to alola and then he tried the malasadas and he said they were the best thing in the world
Looks good!!
Ooh! In my place we call it bomboloni! They're good!
I love Ube everything. Had an Ube boba tea with fresh Taro the other day ❤❤

We call these amagwinya in South Africa and have them with polony, russians , fries and tea/coffee.
That looks so good!
Pahingi!!! Ate pahingi na!!
in indonesia we call it 'ubi ungu'. ubi means sweet potato and ungu means purple. ubi ungu
you NEED to make ube boxty! it’s ana irish pan fried potatoe pancake and you could easily use ube!
That looks so good, I'm hungry 🤤
i recently tried ube flavored food for the first time and OML it was so delicious im craving more 😭🙏
In Argentina and other parts of south America, we eat something like this and we stuff it with either dulce de leche (milk candy) or crema pastelera (no idea what it is, but it's tasty). And we call them bolas de fraile (friar balls 😂)
for the next recipe, it should be Maja Morada or Lila for tagalog if its Ube flavor since its purple hehehe, Blanca means white
