Please see the description box for the full recipe, helpful tips, and details. Some have asked about how to achieve the color like mine. It really depends on how dark the purple sweet potatoes you bought. The ones I used in the video has a very dark rich purple. If yours are lighter, add some Ube extract to enhance the color. The butterfly brand is good. 🙂
Where can I see the full decription
Either way is fine.
Aimee's Cooking my oven doesn’t have the degree like yours, what should I do ? It’s only 230
230 F? That’s the highest?
That’s right. What should I do lol
I had some success making these buns, and some challenges :) I measured my dough by weight but it was drier than yours, it was barely sticky at all. I think Canada's all purpose flour (12% protein) is just super thirsty so I'll use less flour next time! Also FIY for other viewers, this takes a long time to knead by hand, about 30 minutes for me. I didn't make the filling so I made 9 buns instead of 12; however, I think I should have made 12 anyway because mine took about 42 minutes to bake to reach ~200*F internally... but they taste so amazing! I've never had a coconut flavored bread before, and I definitely need more of it in my life :D Thank you!
Wow! This recipe is good for serving classy ube bread. This recipe is also very helpful to listen to at nite. The narrator is a very effective sleep therapist.
Yes! Finally! Real - real purple yam used in the dough. No artificial yucky flavoring and coloring. Thanks!
I made this last night Aimee and it was a hit! I copied everything as shown in the video and description box and the outcome was perfect. I was gonna share the photo of my ube milk buns but I couldn't copy paste it on this comment box. In order to achieve a bright purple color, I put some drops of ube extract. Thank you Aimee for being so detailed in your presentation. I appreciate the dough mixing speed tips and the emphasis you gave on the final dough appearance. I love your channel btw. I am looking forward to making your strawberry cheesecake macarons, soon, God willing😋
I tried these a few months ago but i just thought i'd drop by again and say that these were actually really good. It was a big hit in my family. Thank you Aimee
Yay!! You’re welcome ❤️❤️
You're a great teacher, Aimee! I love how you explained everything - especially important for someone who does not bake like me. The color achieved is absolutely beautiful and the buns looks yum!
Thank you Dear!! ❤️❤️😘
Just made the buns using 75% ingredients for 20cmx20cm (8 inch) square pan but reduced 50% yeast (just 5 grams which I find already enough). I made 9 buns, each weighed 78 grams. They turned out exactly like the video. They the softest buns that I’ve ever baked so far! I skipped the filling as we like to eat them plain or with kaya jam. Great recipe!
Nice!!! I am glad you like it 😀
Hello and good morning from sunny Arizona!
First of all, I would like to say thank you to you for sharing your knowledge and passion in baking. Your videos make baking look so easy and do-able especially for beginners like me.
I am looking forward to see your updated version of ingredients in cups. Yes, lol, I am one of those who don’t have a scale but willing to try the recipe ASAP.
Thank you again and Hod bless you in your baking journey!
Hello!! Thank you for your comment. Yes, will update when I have a chance. 🙂
Can’t wait to try this recipe! I made the pandan bread a few days ago and it was amazing! Thanks for sharing your recipes!!
You’re so welcome. Let me know how you like it 🤗
I just made your bread! I don’t have heavy cream for the filling instead I used cream cheese and added some sugar and it turned out AMAZING!! Thank you for the recipe.
Yay!! Another successful attempt. Love it!! 👏
Hi! How much cream cheese and sugar did you use in your filling? Did you sub the white chocolate for the sugar? Thank you!
Devon Montecillo I actually just eyeball it! I kind of put 1/3 of a bar and mixed with the smashed purple yam with sugar. Tasted it as I go along until I feel the right sweetness. Don’t put too much tho, the cream cheese will melt when baking and will make the buns more dense. And yes, I substitute the white chocolate with sugar.
Thanks for the bread and filling.yours is helpful with filling inside the bread.others channel most dont have any fillings
You’re welcome. More coming soon.
Amazing recipe. I will be making this again and again. Great for any other substitutes such as pumpkins or read bean paste, etc.
Yes!! Fillings are endless 😉
Thank you for sharing your amazing techniques. This looks awesome. It is truly epic.

This is the best ube pandesal I have seen! So good to it's perfection !
Thank you. You’re very sweet ❤️❤️🤗
can’t wait to buy ube tomorrow!! I made your original milk buns and was totally satisfied! I also need to make banh mi tooo! My dough enhancer and Vit C just came in for that. ❤️ Thanks so much for the awesome results.
You’re welcome 😉
I made some buns yesterday, it’s great. My husband said they look like I bought in a bakery store.
Great job! Glad y’all liked it 🤗
These are so good, thank you for the recipe!
Thank you and you’re welcome ❤️
Good recipes thanks..
mmmm looks so yummy. I ordered some extracts for pandan and ube but it looks like I have to go get the fresh one from the store next time!
The fresh ones totally enhanced the bread. It also makes the filling taste incredible 🥰🥰
You've out done yourself. These look amazing!
Thank you dear 💕
Thank you for sharing the recipe! Although the purple didn't come out as dark as yours, the buns are so delicious and fluffy!
You can enhance the color with some Ube extract if needed. You’re welcome 😉
Oh my cant wait to try this. I made your Coconut Pandan milk bread and my husband loved it! Followed your recipe to the t and it came out just like yours, im so happy! Thank you Aimee. 🤗
You’re welcome. Love hearing about successful attempts. ❤️🤗

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful recipe. Your directions are so clear and easy to follow. I just made this bun today. It came out great!! Thank you!!
Yay!! Thanks for trying. Glad you like them ❤️
Where can you get the recipe? I didn’t see the description box where Aimee posted anywhere
If you click on the down arrow next to the tittle of the video, it will open a drop down box. The ingredients are there.
Wow so yummy Pandesal😋. New friend here.
Hello! Thanks!!
Look so good
Thank you!! ❤️
Hi Aimee,
I made them and the dough is really wet. However, they turnt out so yummy and my husband ate dozen hahaa. Thanks
the bread is delicious, friend
Thanks!
Hello again Aimee, happy to let you know that i made the buns yesterday and it turned out great - light, fluffy and tasty. Thx. The only thing that I was not able to achieve was the color of the buns. Pls confirm only use 100gr of Ube for the buns and 200 gr for the filling? Or 150 gr of Ube for each? Thanks again. Keep up the good work, can’t wait to see what is next 😉.
Thank you! The measurements are correct as listed in the recipe. The color really depends on the purple potatoes you purchased. Their colors do vary, lighter or darker. You can see in the video how dark mine was. If your dough is light, you can add some Ube extract to enhance the color. Butterfly brand is a good one 😉
Total going to try this! I loved the pandan bread!
Please keep me updated. I really want to know what everyone thinks about the recipe 🤗
please continue to use grams and ml for your recipes! it's much easier and helps me know my measurements are accurate. i'll be trying this recipe soon :)
I like gr ml too for better accuracy 👍🏻
Tried this breead and omg sooooo amazing!!
You went back for more yams 😂😂. Glad y’all liked them 🤗
My friend was looking for this recipe... will forward it to her. Thanks
Great! Thank you for sharing 💕
Great recipe Amie, will make this today. Thank you. We love the pandan bun too💕💕
Yay! Let me know how you like them 😉
Aimee's Cooking omg they were good, thanks again Amie 💕💕..
Really appreciate your feedback. They help guide me when I work on new recipes. Thanks! And you’re welcome. 💕
Looks delicious👌👌
Thank you!!
Sis ơi, I love all your bread recipes, your instructions is so easy to follow. Do you have cream cheese rolls/ bread recipe? I would love to learn from you 😁
Working on one 😊
This ube bread looks so yummy especially the ube filling. I can't wait to try your ube bread. Question about your ube filling. Is it possible if your ube filling recipe can be use for ube ice cream? I'm also searching for a creamy ube ice cream recipe that I can use to sell for extra income. I hope someday you can share a good gourmet ube ice cream recipe for me to try. Thank you for sharing your recipes.
I miss your baking ❤
So so delicious 😋
Thank you!! ❤️
I made these and they are really soft. I didnt use the mixer because i dont have one and i've been making my bread by hand for years. I also think there's too much yeast. It's very yeasty in my opinion. You really need a lot of ube to achieve that Ube flavor. I think ube flavoring would help to intensify the Ube taste that it's lacking. Also, depending on what Ube you are using, you might get deep or light color. I got light this time. Overall, i like it. It tastes like "monay" or "bun" as we call it.
Thank you!! The filling helps with the flavor too. 🙂
Looks really yummy! Now I am craving some!
Give it a try, it’s delicious 😋
Cam ổn chi hy vong la em se lam thanh cong cách huống dần của chị👍
Sẽ mà. Đừng bỏ chi tiết nào là được thôi 🙂
Aimee these were amazing! Thank you for the recipe.
Yay!! You’re welcome 😉
Omg this looks so delish! Will def try this thanks for sharing! 😍
You’re welcome 😉
Hi Aimee, looks so yummy. Is there a reason why you add white chocolate to the filling? Don’t have it hand, ok to skip? Thx.
Enhances the taste. Also helps to thicken it well after cooled. Yet, melts while baked so the filling is super creamy.
It's so satisfying watching you tare it apart! Hahaha! Looks amazing!!!!
Thanks!
Yum!!! I am going to try this as soon as I can find myself some yeast!
Yay! Let me know how you like them 🙂
Thank you very much for your consideration!
You’re welcome ❤️
omg i LOVE your recipes. it's so hard to find recipes like this and i forgot all about this bread until now. thank you!!
You’re welcome
Just subscribed!! Hope you post more recipes!!
I have to say, I don't care for yam filling, but the buns look very appetizing.
Give it a try. These sweet potatoes are so flavorful 🤤
Thanks
You’re welcome ❤️
Fantastic , but is there a modified quick version
You're video and voice Is very relax ☺️🥰🌹
Oh thank you!
Looks delicious
Thank you!!
This looks so good. Is it also chewy?
Thanks! It’s soft.
Can’t wait to try this 😍
Hi!!! I LOVE these buns! Is it possible to make the dough and filling a day in advance? If so, at what point would you refrigerate the dough? Thanks!
Place the dough in the fridge after the first rest. Take them out the next day, shape, fill, and let it come back to room temp, proof, and bake.
Looks good!
Thank you!!
Hi Aimee’s can I use ube powder 🤔 , Thankyou. All the best to you 🍀
Taste will differ and might have to tweak liquid amount 🙂
Do you have the recipe in cups?? Thanks for sharing your recipes. Keep the videos coming!!😁
You’re welcome. I will have to convert the next time I make it. However, I would recommend a scale to be exact 🙂
Can’t wait to try this recipe!
It’s great. Let me know how you like it 😉
Made mine and it turned out fabulous. The dough was soft and elastic. The filling was not as sweet as I like so I will add more sugar to it next time.
Yay! Glad you liked it. ❤️
Omg Aimee I sent my husband to buy yams for me because when I was younger my grandma would steam these and we would eat well after I steamed it LOL my husband and I ended up eating them haha ! Looks like I’ll have go back to the store to get more so I can make it! If anyone has a pressure cooker you can also make it in there! Just add one cup of water and pressure on HI and steam for 10-15 minutes!
OMG that’s too funny!! Yes, they are very good to eat. My family do that too lol 😂
Hi, is it possible to use ube jam instead of freshly steamed ube?
Yes, that’s fine to fill it with the jam.
They look so goood
Thank you!!
Wow Aimee that bread is so beautiful and colorful, looks delicious! We're all about authentic and unique food prepared by home-cooks and food creators! We'd love to get in contact with any food creators or artisans that want to take their food to a marketplace of local diners and food-lovers.
Thank you!! 🙏❤️
Hi aimee! 👋🏻
Can I substitute the heavy cream with fresh milk? If can how ml i have to use? Thanks!!
Thanks Aimee for the recipe. I made it and it was delish!!! I was too nervous about the filling oozing out so I ended up have a lot of extra left over. Do you think I could freeze it for next time or will the consistency be too wet? Or how long do you think it'll last in the fridge? Thanks again for the recipe!!!
Should be fine in the fridge for a few days. I would prefer that over freezing it.
Thanks for the quick response!! Can’t wait to make it again :)
You’re welcome 😉
I do like your tutorials slow and clear recently because covit 19 i stay home a lot so I been watching a lot baking video I like to made from purple sweet potatoes too is my favourite colour but one thing I don't understand is you call sweet potatoes yam ?
It’s sweet purple potatoes.
Hi!! Just curious why we need to use melted butter here instead of softened butter?
As most other milk breads/bread recipes I've tried uses softened butter instead.
Can't wait to try this recipe!
You can use room temp butter. I like to melt it to help increase the temp in the dough a little. Yeast don’t like to work in cold temp.
I love your recipe chi👍
Thank you Em 😘😘
Yummy yummy 😋
Thank you!! ❤️
Is it possible to keep kneading by hand if we don’t have a stand mixer?
Yes, just keep on kneading till you match the consistency. 🙂
Can I substitute the ube yam with ube purple yam jam if that’s all I can find? This is for the dough.
Yes, but you might have to add just a little less water to the flour to accommodate this replacement. 😁
Can’t wait to try this tom. ❤️❤️❤️
Yay! Hope you like them. Keep me posted 🙂
Aimee's Cooking omg! They were amazing!!! Thank you.
Aimee, would it be ok to omit the white chocolate for the filling? Thanks!
Yes, but it doesn’t add a lot of flavor to the fillings. You can add some sugar or condensed milk for sweetness.
So... i have a plan for tomorrow now 😄😇
Hope it worked out 🙂
@@AimeesCooking nah... i couldn't find my sweet potatos 😩😟 my parents took them to work for lunch 🤪😂 i have to buy some more.....
I see lol 😂
Can I use halayang ube as filling instead of the filling with white chocolate.Thankyou
Hi Aimee, I just want to say your baking is amazing, I have a question, if I use the taro instead of ube, do I have to put more sugar in the filling or any ingredient measurements change? Thank you. 👩🏼🍳🧁🥧🍪🍰❤️💕
Thank you!!! That’s so sweet and kind of you to say 😘😘
As for your question....Maybe a little more sugar to the dough. It’s not as sweet on it’s own compared to purple potatoes. Also, for the filling, you can taste test it and adjust to the sweetness you want. 🙂
Aimee's Cooking thank you so much. 💕👩🏼🍳
You’re welcome 😉
Do you have a recipe to substitute the ube yams with ube jam instead?
Literally gasped when you tore that roll open 😲
😂. Give it a try. It’s good.
Oh believe me, I plan on it...
Keep me posted. 😉
hello,do you have the measurements in mililliteres/cups? thank you very much!
Is there a substitute I can use for white chocolate. I bought everything except the chocolate :)
You can use some condense milk if you have, otherwise, just plain sugar 🙂
Hi Aimee! I tried making this bread last night and my dough came out very wet to handle. If I want to make it again should I keep adding flour until the consistency looks like yours? How do I know I'm adding too much flour? Will the bread become tougher and not as soft? Thank you so much!!
Hi Aimee, I am thinking of replacing the ube for durian to make Durian milk bread using your Ube bread recipe. What do you think?
It’s fine, but be careful with the amount of durian. It tends to be more watery than Ube 🙂
If I use an ube halaya paste as opposed to the potatoes and coconut mixture, how much paste would u recommend?
Would I be able to omit the filling and just bake the bread as is?
Yes, absolutely. Still tastes amazing 🙂
Accidentally found your video and the bread just looks amazing ! However I wonder if it’s possible to exchange Fresh Ube onto Pure Ube flour instead ? As I’m thinking to use it up instead of getting a fresh Ube. Thanks thanks much Aimee ;)
Should work.
I just made it, it's so good! How should I store it?
Awesome!! Airtight container or ziplock bags are fine. 😉
Hi Aimee! If I want to use active yeast does the measurement stay the same as the instant yeast?
Add an extra 2 gr 🙂
do you have other measurement using cups tsp and tablespoon?
Sorry, I do not.
Oh my goodness I have to try this Chi! My mom will love it
It’s really yummy em. I am sure she will love it 😉
Thank you so much! My dough wasn't as wet as as yours is and after baking it, the bread didn't pull apart in a stretchy way like yours did. Do you think maybe I didn't mix it long enough?
Sounds like that might be it.
yum
Thank you!! ❤️
Wow I like it miss
Thank you!!
Hi Aimee! If I want to bake these first thing in the morning, can I leave the buns to proof in the refrigerator overnight after they've been filled? Thank you so much! I can't wait to make these.
Alternatively - are these buns still nice and fluffy the next day? If I bake them the night before then give to friends the next day, how do they hold up?
Oh, and will this work if I use frozen purple yam, thawed then steamed? Thanks!
