  • Nice old Dosy test center in great shape. after playing with it for a while, I realized it is a feel good meter, it measures more than just RMS power.

Thank you for posting the adjustment trims in the meters. This will help tremendously if anyone needs to adjust their meters accordingly.

Just made skip contact with you Mower Junkie on 38 LSB at around 10 AM Central time 3/26/22 !!
I was surprised to say the least. Just to let you know I have two things with my setup that I was inspired by you. First is my linear is being powered by an 18 Amp Dell laptop charger. Second is my antenna I use is a homebrew. It's a 1/2 wave coax antenna known as a T2LT. It is hoisted up about 20' in the air. Your antenna experiments has got me to try the same experiments.
73 to you and Mrs Mower Junkie !!

I had two meters like that back in the 90s and early 2000s when I was on the radio. First set was a Palomar PW-5000 and the second was a Para Dynamics PDC 600LP. I wanted the Dosy TFC-3001S with the built in frequenct counter back then when they came out but they were a little too high in price for me.

Everyone who takes this hobby seriously should invest into a decent "reference" SWR/Watt meter for their radio room. If you can afford a Bird meter that's all good but there are cheaper alternatives out there that have the same guaranteed 5% accuracy reading as the more expensive Bird meters do with the exception that they do not have selectable slugs that plug into them so they're limited on ultra high power readings but the average person is only going to run 100 or maybe 200 watts unless you're one of the "Super Bowl" people trying to recreate a commercial radio station out of your bedroom. These little meters I'm talking about go up to 200 watts RMS with a 5% accuracy which you can use to calibrate your meter on it's 1000 watt scale just by adjusting your watt meter to be accurate at 100 or 200 watts on the 1000 watt scale. Many roads lead to ROME so there's always a workaround to get the job done. As to inaccurate meters, I went through this same issue with the "None of the meters I own TO MY NAME read the same with each other syndrome" and I finally decided to invest into a accurate reference meter and it was the best investment I could have ever made for my radio gear! If anyone reading this decides to purchase one of these meters, you should also invest into a small 50 Ohm RF dummy load rated around a few hundred watts and here's why: If you try to use your antenna as the load your calibrations will be off no matter how good your antenna's SWR is because the antenna is reactive where a dummy load is NOT reactive so keep that in mind. Once I calibrated my meters I boxed the reference meter up and put it away for future calibration use. Here are two links to the same meter under two different names. They are the same meter but one is a little over $100 and the other is a bit under $100
