Hilarious Mormon Temple Update!

- Apparently it's perfectly fine to build enormous buildings in small towns as long as there are enough trees you can hide behind! Or so the LDS Church seems to suggest...
#churchofjesuschristoflatterdaysaints #lds #mormon #ldstemple #mormontemple #exmormon #prolds
Maybe we should think of the earth as the temple that God created and not build ostentatious buildings that man created.
The body is also considered a Temple for the Spirit of God.
Your idea seems fine.
Their idea seems fine.
Both ideas seem fine
The temple is a Temple when it was created. The Garden of Eden is an Ancient Temple.
As I read the scriptures, The earth ceased to be a temple when Adam ate the fruit. This is my interpretation at least.
@@johnpope8949 idk... about earth, however Eden seemed to be a special place, and there have been special hallowed places on earth. Still, God has commanded men to build temples and there is a history of temple building throughout the world.
@@firstLast-gb9kr agreed.
These are beautiful buildings. At least its not a gas station or ikea. Just looking on the bright side. 😂
How absolutely stunningly beautiful it is! It will be a true house of God.
What is the point of building this massive temple when the end result will be to alienate the entire community where it is situated?
Prob part of their next real estate business plan 😅
The point of the Temple is the steeple. Lol 😂 jk...
But seriously 😒...
The Temple is sacred and hallowed space for the patrons and members who worship therein.
It is situated next to a 4 lane highway. Across from fastfood and retail space, nestled inbetween 3 churches. It will be extensively landscaped and will become a haven for the community. The end result is much different than you anticipate.
@@firstLast-gb9krthis was a very good answer
Hey you too can experience the temple, at a minor inconvenience of giving 10% of your life's worth, follow stringent rules for your behavior dictated by old white men, give most of your time to church, wear head to toe magic panties day and night, give a thumbs down to coffee and cigarettes or for thinking on your own, get interviewed by some asshole to see if you are worthy when they themselves are not worthy, then you too my friend can enter. The fun
Not sure what the point is but I know they are beautiful and raise the value of the land around them.
Seems like a win win for anybody that isnt an anti-Mormon player hater
Maybe they need to make temples so big to assure all the people they baptize from the dead can see them from heaven?
They really aren't that big. Have you seen the temple in salt lake city?
It's dwarfed by the skyscrapers around them. I don't hear Mormons complaining about it
The church could build a thousand temples the size of large a large stake center, and there would be no objections and no need for lawyers. So the issue is not about the type of building proposed. It is all about the ridiculous size proposed.
You think the NIMBY crowd would not object to a thousand large stake centers?😂 Come on.
The NIM
The church is out of line. Their website is deceptive -- and laughable as you say.
I disagree. I'd say more but I'm not allowed the freedom of the press.
Ex-Mormon here...They are massive because that is how they want it to be. They want it to be a "beacon" for all to see.
I think it’s also possible that by building massive temples (and/or building many of them), the organization can claim that they are not actually hoarding all that money that they got caught hoarding .
@@AvadenSV Great point!
Yep, the one just outside DC in Maryland is situated so you get a great view of it from 495 which circles DC - you drive right toward it. When I was young someone spray painted “surrender Dorothy” on the railway bridge that you passed under as approaching the temple in all its glory (yes, there was a certain resemblance to the Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz). It’s all about getting eyeballs on it to help bring in new members.
That’s where my family and I were sealed together. I remember thinking how glorious it was to see it so prominently. “Our church is SO important!”… 🙄… Now I just think, “How obnoxious and self-serving.” (Our family left the church.)
@@AvadenSVwhy do you care about how other people/organizations spend their money?
Are you some kind of church budget police? Maybe you should write to SLC headquarters and tell them how they should spend their money😆
They showed short focal length photos from far away. You can make a mountain look small that way. Stay classy, Mormons.
Still their photo renderings were more accurate then the F U website which had a photoshopped Temple floating off the ground. It is floating so high it is almost sitting on the Church.
I did like that massive water tower in the background....

🎉 why do things disappear?
The Mormon God has a huuuge ego 😂
😎 The future's so bright I got to wear shades.
Nobody gets paid in the LDS Church. That doesn't seem very egotistical if them
Those who crow the loudest have the least to say of any substance.
That's right. Add two more stories to that steeple.
Make sure the city stands strong brother!
As an exmo, I can tell ya that there's a reason temples are so big with giant steeples and shiny golden angels on top. It's to make people see them. To dominate the view as soon as that steeple is visible. It gets people talking and interested with a "Hey what goes on in there?" conversation. And then when people stop at the visitor's center or on the street to look, they get pounced on by missionaries and members who will try to convert them.
So, as an "unbiased" individual . . .
That is amazingly so juvenile of an idea, that it surely must be the truth!!!! But wow, its really hard to imagine good, decent, fairly educated people falling for such emotionalism. But then again, billions of superstitious are Roman Catholic. Oh how narrow is His Gate! Thanks for the insight on that, momogal, I studied Mormonism under Walter Martin but never heard THAT reason! Well, they could have said the trumpet was sending messages to Planet Koleb! haha
why did you leave? also the church is a fabulous community that obviously we would want more people to be a part of
Yep, it's a big advertisement.
@@harshitgarg419 I left because I was treated like trash for leaving my abusive husband. Told I couldn't dissolve our temple marriage without my abuser's permission. Then they just piled on more reasons over the years to stay the hell away. The LGBTQIA+ hatred, the oppression of women, the cult mentality... When the Catholic church becomes more welcoming than your church, you know you're in a screwed up cult.
Was there something in some book somewhere about not building things nigh up into heaven? Whatever happened to that?
Idk what happened to what?
@@firstLast-gb9kr I think it got Confounded.
Isaiah 2:2
And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow into it.
That verse sounds legit cause there is even a temple coming in Shanghai, China. That's wild
Oh dear… how ridiculous 🤪
I agree. His laugh is maniacal. 🤣
they want to advertise like a mcdonalds arches on a highway. they want to impose an image of being powerful around the area
Christ was pretty powerful so why should his House be as well?
@@mmear1683 he never built one. Why should we? He never asked for money.
Deception has historically been the LDS Church’s playbook.
I disagree.
Temples are so spiritual. I have many spiritual experiences in the temples.
Please don’t mock God.

Imagine standing before Christ one day asking if you can live in His kingdom. And having to explain why you didn't want His house in your neighborhood. This isn't a "Mormon Temple" it is the House of the Lord.
Imagine having to explain to Jesus your total lack of empathy for anyone whose opinion or life experience was different than your own.
If this is the requirement for getting into His Kingdom I would not want to be there. Love justice and mercy? Love your neighbor as yourself; this is the true temple of the Lord. Read your Bible.
If it’s not a temple then make it look like a normal church
Imagine believing in a book that plagerized other religions and ancient myths for it's biggest stories. Genesis is completely stolen from a past religion. Noah, Job, Mary and the birth of Jesus, all stolen. Please do a little research. And yes, I am aware mormons use the book of mormon, but they also use the bible.
It’s not that an LDS temple isn’t wanted there. It’s that the proposed design doesn’t meet local zoning laws. Redesign the temple so that it meets those laws and you’re good to go! But we can’t do that because we are God’s kingdom on earth and God wants this design. How do we know? Our beloved prophet, seer and revelator told us so!
Mormon arrogance.
@briddle1978 You should be ashamed of yourself stating a false view of federal law. The law does not supercede local zoning requirements. Besides the Mormon claim that a high spire is integral to their religion. It is not since there are several temples without a spire. Even a prophet has recently declared that architectural aspects are not integral to their religion.
Take the gum out of your mouth when you type.
The point of the Temple is the steeple. Lol 😂 jk 😊
Federal law allows the LDS Church to build based on their ORIGINAL proposal. Good luck on spending taxpayer's dollars on a federal lawsuit that you will for sure lose.
I think you have oversimplified your claim.
The church can build in areas that are zoned for what they want to build, but the church alway wants to build in residential areas. The federal law prevent discrimination it does not force city’s to allow inappropriate building in residential areas.
On a separate note, what a douchy and smug attitude about how great it is the church can abuse the people in a community.
That federal law is keep towns from denying building permits to unpopular religions. The church knows exactly what that law entails since Orrin Hatch helped write it. I doubt that he expected it to be misused by his own church like this. The town already gave a variance on the church's first building. The town was gracious in doing so, and what do they get in return? The church trying to misuse a federal law and beat up on people in such an egregious way. Bullies. They think 300 billion dollars can buy anything and everything. They may be correct but it's not right and you know it.
@@ericredd5590 abolish zoning, simple. lawsuit on that
I can just see Jesus grinning ear to ear as he watches his people gleefully stomp all over this and other communities, joyous that they can grind others' opinions and viewpoints under their shoe. How wonderful it is to have religious freedom!
