@@thegoodthings2878 I never said he wasn't at fault for the breakup of his marriage and of course he did some grimy things. However she went overboard when she went on a tangent saying that he was a cross dresser and made her call him a wife in bed, and saying he was only into gay porn. Now she was justified in being mad but I do think there are personal things that married couples do behind closed doors that no matter the circumstances should be left behind closed doors. Especially if it deals with any element of sexuality. It's on a similar wavelength as nonconsensual release of nude images. Certain things should be left private between the parties involved and not for public to know, judge or ridicule.

This one isnt really grunge or punk. Grunge is literally a blend of alternative rock styles that were prominent in the Seattle area in the 1990s most exemplified by Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. There were a lot of other great bands in this genera like L7, Mother Love Bone, Green River, etc... Punk is a style that is also fairly varried with subgenres and eras there is the original Punk sounds of Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Misfits, etc from the 70s and 80s eras and the resurgence that have occured in the later 80s through the 90s with bands like Green Day, Blink 182, Bad Religion, Rancid, etc...
Bush would fall into the overall Alternative rock genera of the 90s.

I agree but their sound was close to grunge. Alternative was such a broad umbrella term that kept changing. I remember when REM, U2, and many European bands were alternatives. Bands like Blind Melon which was kind of hippie folky and gin Blossoms which was more of a pop band were also alternative.

One of my favorite songs with an all time favorite memory of mine. I've seen Bush 5 times in concert. The 1st time was at Woodstock 99. I met the, HANDS DOWN, most attractive girl at the entire 250,000 person show while watching the Bush performance near the stage.. During this song, I literally had the prettiest girl at the whole weekend show on my shoulders. I literally DIDNT WANT TO COME DOWN FROM THIS CLOUD! After Bush we were going to go back to the reapective tents we were staying in to freshen up and then meet back up at the Rave hanger 11 pm. I was headed back to my campsite to change, and I got lost in an endless maze of tents and sat down under a tree to rest. Ended up falling asleep and didn't wake up until 4 AM. I spent all of the next two days looking for that girl but I never saw her again. She was somewhere from the Midwest. I was crushed. Side note. Check out the songs Glycerine, Machinehead, Everything Zen, and Little Things ( not to be confused with the equally great song Little Things by the band Good Charloette)- all singles from the incredible Bush album, the Sixteen Stone! Also Mouth and Chemicals Between Us by Bush.

Loved your reaction to this. Bush is amazing. I first saw them live with my future husband at Texas Motor Speedway, Rockfest, 1997. It was one of the largest crowds ever. He was dating Gwen from No Doubt at the time, and they were on the tour together with so many other bands. Matchbox Twenty being one of them that stands out. It was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Sadly, my husband passed way in April of 2019. Later that year in October 2019, I took our 19 year old son with me to see Bush/Marilyn Manson. It was so bittersweet and full circle feels. And of course, even 20 odd years later, Gavin Rossdale never ceases to amaze me. That show will also go down as one of the best I have ever seen. I can't wait to see y'all dive into the Bush catalog. I think you will both love it.

"Grunge" is kind of a melding of punk and metal, with hints of blues and indy rock thrown in. It really grew out of the local music scene of Seattle during the late 80s/early 90s until just about every alternative rock band was imitating it. Just trying to help you guys put a finger on it because it's my favorite sub-genre of music.

    • @tjhunger8644

It was definitely a pushback from what the music scene turned into in the later part of the 80s and early 90s which was tired ; arena Rock, big hair, toxic maleness and a carefree hedonism was the ingredients needed to put the hackneyed monster to bed

  • @PriestessOfNothing

Amber touched on this, I think the core attraction to grunge (grunge as an umbrella term) was that these bands put all the feels on the stage and in your face, positive or negative. They bared their souls. People were ready to feel something after a decade of hair bands. Don't get me wrong, I love hair bands and the 80s were an amazing time for me. But a lot of it lacked honesty towards the end of the 80s, as bands were being signed left and right and put Aqua Net in their hair and stuck on a stage. It was time. The music was always there, grunge was just waiting for its moment. The 90s were an even better time. I don't know if you've seen it yet or not, but check out Pearl Jam "Black" Live MTV Unplugged. That man's open wound was rubbed with a Brillo pad that day. Pure raw emotion. It's brilliant, best performance ever.

Bush is not "grunge". The music that came to be known as grunge (rock and punk fusion) originated out of the Pacific NW of the USA. Bush is a British band releasing music in the same time period that grunge hit. Bush would probably be classified as Rock.

Punk is usually faster and sloppier, but it has changed a bit over the years. Key punk bands include the Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Green Day, and Blink 182.
Grunge especially applies to the Seattle Scene (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, etc) but grunge quickly was brought under the Alternative Rock label which was anything in the 90s that wasn’t pop, hip-hop, or country.

Bush was the band formed in England by vocalist/guitarist Gavin Rossdale back in 1993 just as Nirvana was peaking commercially. After the death of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain in 1994, there was a huge void left in rock music... so Bush was signed to an indie label that year.
This debut album 'Sixteen stone' started getting on MTV and radio in '95... 'Comedown' was the 3rd single and the record went up like a rocket🚀and sold 6 million copies in the US... ironically, it sold poorly in the UK 😬
Bush, rounded out by Robin Goodridge (drums), Dave Parsons (bass) & Nigel Pulseford (guitar)... returned in 1996 w/ the 'Razorblade suitcase' album which hit #1 in the US and sold well in the UK... Rossdale was the star of the band, and he soon got involved w/ Gwen Stefani of No Doubt when they opened for Bush... they would marry & have 2 kids before they would divorce. Bush got a lot of heat for emulating Nirvana's sound & style...
However, the grunge rock scene was starting to decline by 1998... in 1999, Bush released 'The science of things' album, but it sold less than the last 2 records. Bush's 4th album 'Golden state' in 2001 was marred by the 9/11 attacks and sold poorly... guitarist Nigel Pulseford left the band and Bush split up in 2002 after the tour☹️
After a solo record & an album under the name Institute, Gavin Rossdale finally brought back Bush around 2010 w/ the album 'The sound of winter' and carried on... only drummer Robin Goodridge from the original band returned (he eventually left a few yrs ago)... Bush had a great recent single "Bullet holes"🔥
