I don't think there is anything you can do about it but there is no audio from 1:03 - 1:08. I'm not blaming ED because I don't want to incur her wrath. Just caught me off guard and I thought my computer or headphones was broken for a second.
Ooooops! Eem she says it was deliberate and it caught your attention 😳
@@DianeJennings I assumed it WAS deliberate, meant to call attention to the insatiable hunger of the Algorithm Monster - so hungry it ate part of the audio track for the video!
I would have red the algorithm, but my cat insisted I feed him instead.
I do blame ED though. Because it's fun to blame ED.
@@ManuelB1904 You should probably watch your back for the next 6-9 months....
My husband worked with them back in the 90s In Boston. At their hotel. He was head of security. He said they were the best, most polite guys he ever dealt with. Absolutely raised right. Everything was yes Sir no Sir, please and thanks you. The last day they were there, they even got him a cheeseburger and asked if he wanted to smoke a joint with them. He’ll never forget how awesome they were out of 100s of celebrities he dealt with.
Elderly woman behind the counter in a small town is my favorite Pearl Jam song
Yes a thousand times
Alive is my favorite song
Yes, very good song
Amazing song. Wishlist, all those yesterdays, better man so on... some brilliant songs
The title was their response to a complaint that their song titles were too short.
Would highly recommend their unplugged version of "Black". Can gaurantee you will not only understand the lyrics, but also the heavy emotion Vedder was (and still is I suppose) able to convey within his voice.
That whole unplugged album is just amazing
It makes me so happy to see someone listen to Pearl Jam for the first time!
This wasn't just guy rock in the 90's, it was the height of grunge, and Pearl Jam was one of the top artists at the time. They are one of my favorites of all time. Better Man is hands down one of my favorite songs ever, but Even Flow is up there too. I so wish Diane would listen to Candlebox, I really think she'd enjoy them.
Candlebox lol??? Good Gaaaawd I hope not😂😂😂😂!
I know that's right the two girls I was closest to in my early 20s and I all LOVE Pearl Jam as well. They were universally popular at the time from what I saw.
Soundgarden, STP, Alice In Chains, Jane’s Addiction, all better than Pearl Jam
@@davidstephan5116 for you, I'm sure they were. All music preferences are subjective to the listener, and I enjoy all the bands you've listed.
My favorite all time PJ album is 10, been a huge fan ever since, and favorite song Black for the lyrics and sound, possibly of all time of any genre. But also can't argue with your choice of Better man among my favorite PJ songs.
Jeremy is probably my favorite Pearl Jam song. The video is amazing and deep.
I saw them in concert at the height of their popularity. The tickets sold out in 45 minutes. This is back when you had to wait in line or call in to buy them. I got in line about 2 hours before the box office opened.
Omg I can imagine the tension 😮
I still remember the days of standing in line for hours waiting for tickets to go on sale.
Yeap, saw them for the first time at the now iconic Drop in the Park in Seattle….one of the best shows ever
@@prettybullet7728same! But it was kin of fun, too.
I saw them at Alpine Valley in those days
This whole album is a masterpiece.
Pearl Jam is still touring, and Eddie Vedder still has excellent crowd interaction, although he doesn't climb the lights, and crowd surf anymore. His latest solo album sounds very country.
You are listening to one of the best voices in Rock
😐 no.
Chris Cornell > Vedder. Layne Staley > Vedder.
Eddie Vedder may be the innovator of mumble rap
That drummer tho🤯
Yes, Jeremy! That video you will never forget once you see it. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
"Jeremy" is an amazing song covering a serious subject.
I was a college lady when they hit the waves, and I absolutely loved them ❤ Such a treat after the hair bands of the 80s.
Growing up in the Washington in the 90s. Made it impossible not to hear Pearl Jam. 😂
So cool you're listening and liking classic rock, metal, grunge, progressive, and pop punk, all music I've grown up and grown old with. I happened to live in Seattle in the early to mid 90s when Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog, Alice In Chains and a few others were playing in the downtown bars and grunge was new. Amazing times.
I'm glad you enjoyed the sound of my teen years.
This is from the Ten era aka 1992 and it was amazing. I am still a PJ fan some 30 plus years. Gigs were different than today, we rocked.
You and your brother can both enjoy Pearl Jam for completely different reasons, and they are both legit
So much energy to their vidoes/songs.
I was thinking, "Diane throw your hair around like they do." . And then you did do it. Made me smile.
Great reaction, if you were a teenage boy in the 90's, Pearl Jam was on your radar. I'm sure plenty of fans will tell you, check out "Black" MTV Unplugged version, amazing!
La mejor y más emotiva voz del rock auténtico de los 90's.
OG pearl jam!
Diane reacts to Pearl Jam, a Seattle grunge band
She likes Vedder’s voice and his expressive hand
She thought the lyrics were a bit hard to understand
She may not be their demographic, but she’s trying to expand
Jeremy and Black. Definitely worth looking at.
I think you'll enjoy their MTV Unplugged video of Black. I think an acoustic instrument presentation may be up your alley
Girl, we have to get you to a concert wild and crazy
It's such a great song, and you are getting into it, priceless.
I wonder if Diane's brother will ever see this video and be like, "Told ya so, Diane." ...... But, Diane, Jeremy is totally worth listening to/watching. It's about a real event that happened in my home town.
30 years from now he’ll watch the videos and be like oh 😂
Agree on Jeremy, but it needs to be the official video and you need to read about the actual event before watching. It will disturb you, but it is a must see.
I swear I had this song on repeat when it came out
♥ early 90s grunge/alt rock!
Pearl Jam deserves all the appreciation. One of the greatest bands to ever do it.
Great reaction, Diane. Now I think your next Pearl Jam reaction should be the song "Alive". The official music video and the live version on the mtv unplugged concert are awesome.
Yes, Even Flow and Alive are my top 2 Pearl Jam songs!
The SNL version rolls hard, too. You can find the audio on here, but every time the SNL video is put up, it only has minutes before it's removed.
FYI Diane, peyote is an halucinagen derived from a cactus bud that was used by native American shamans to achieve a religious experience .Try it you'll like it 😮 (except the throwing up part)
Pearl Jam's Jeremy is mind blowing good. I have been listening to it for 30 years.
A beautiful lady and a fantastic reaction ❤
Fer more PEARL JAM: BLACK (unplugged version) , ALIVE, JEREMY, and LEDBETTER.
SOUNDGARDEN: OUTSHINE, when you gets a chance.
Great video, keep it up 👍
Regarding their first album "Ten", it is considered by many people (including myself), to be one of the few, rare 'perfect' albums ever made. It is the type of album you can listen to, from beginning to end, on repeat, for days and it simply never gets old. Every song is great, the entire album flows well, and it hits almost every type of emotion you could want from a rock album.
Love your expressions 😀
The music video to their song "Jeremy" is probably one of the most powerful music videos that's been made. You'd have to watch the uncensored version. They also did an MTV Unplugged (all acoustic) concert that was amazing and their song "Black" from that concert is a reactor favorite. Your brother had good taste in music!
Headbanger Diane 😂😂👍👍❤️❤️
The Seattle grunge era was an incredible time in American rock. Having lived in Seattle during those days there were so many talented bands that came from the area…Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice n Chains, Screaming Trees, Mudhoney.
I can sing along tonight woo hoo x
Wahey!
Love the reaction! Please check out the song "Black" from Pearl Jam's MTV Unplugged concert. Eddie Vedders voice and emotion in this song is incredible.
I have heard most of Pearl Jam's song's. Even flow is a good one. I enjoyed listening to the music with you enjoying the music journey with You. Thanks for making Wenesday Happy and Joyful.
That album is gold. You could make a video for every song on it.
Well reacted, Diane. Go, go algorithm.
Three other bands came from Seattle and were major successes, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and Nirvana. Songs for reactions are:
Rooster-Alice in Chains
Black Hole Sun-Soundgarden
Heart Shaped Box-Nirvana
Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam is the only lead singer of these four bands who is still alive. Details can be found when researching the bands.
I'd love for you to do both Black and Jeremy. Jeremy is a powerful song and video, Black which should be done on the MTV unplugged version is beautiful and emotional. Highly recommend both.
Every time I hear this song it takes me back to 7th grade waiting for school to begin. Every song on this album is great.
Just as many girls were into grunge as guys. It was the dominant music for a while, along with New Wave/Punk in the 90’s. And Pearl Jam was one of the best. He was also in supergroup with Chris Cornell of Audioslave, called Temple of the Dog. Great band as well. They’re stage diving/crowd surfing. Don’t worry, people catch you - usually lol. We used to slam dance, as well - still do. The energy makes you move. In New Wave you do more slam dancing which is a little different from grunge’s mosh pit. Not quite as violent.
Glad you loved the music. Their music is hypnotic. I remember as if it were yesterday.... When grunge hit the scene, it was all over for the glam-rock that I was REALLY getting sick of. It wasn't bad. But it had no soul.
Nirvana and Pearl Jam really aren't the same genre.... As Kurt C said. Pearl Jam is really a 70's band that's more modern in every way. Nirvana its true grunge. But that era of rock changed everything and it was exhilarating to be living in it. The music....
I only got to see Stone Temple Pilots live and no one else. Of course, Nirvana wasn't around long... But their music is eternal.
The way they described themselves: some of us, our horse was on its last leg, and then it was put into the race. They were the definition of "all in." Gave it everything they had, when most other bands were wearing makeup and obsessed with glamor. I thank God for them, and you for giving them a chance. As far a Kurt goes, he said a great many things, some of them nonsense, or contradictory. He was just trying to keep everybody honest. The whole west coast scene was terrified of success.
these guys were they to tour now holy smokes talk about selling every seat in the house everywhere they play because music like this is such a rare commodity
Temple of the Dog, Hunger Strike is a great song too which is both Sound Garden and Pearl Jam both together, and another good song is Mad Season - River of Deciet which is Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains together, and in concert they would all sometimes tour together and all play as the same band same songs , I saw Alice in Chins in concert in 2001 before Layne passed away and Mike McCready was playing along because pearl jam was separated at that time and they played Mad Season songs that night it was great !
Need to watch MTV Unplugged😊
Pearl Jam is one of my favorite Grunge bands with Even Flow being my favorite song by them. Alive, Black, Mother, Daughter, Yellow Ledbetter, Better Man & Jeremy are an excellent songs and all are my favorites. I think you will love them.
So does that mean you're the one person who actually knows what the heck he's saying in this song?
😂😂😂😂😂
@@EventHorizonPrdctns Nope. It's really hard to do that.
I was in my early 20s when PJ hit the scene and it was THE BAND for a couple of years. I still have the album 10 as part of the playlist on my phone today. This music is just timeless to me. A lot of my fellow Gen Xers online wax nostalgic about the 80s but for me the 90s were the best decade for music since the end of the 1960s
King Diamond is an American icon in the music industry
Pearl Jam is channeling like the "nostalgic wistful memories of a kind of semi-rural Southern upbringing" OR an "echoes of the past from a poorer struggling urban upbringing" vibe.
It's REALLY hard to convey if you've never at least briefly stumbled into that sort of place and at least SEEN it.
It's like he's channeling the ghost of a time that once was.
Returning to the rundown remains of something you can tell used to be....home to someone.
Like TO ME so many Pearl Jam songs FEEL LIKE old outdated backwoods rural family properties in Louisiana that I've visited.
Like I get there and my dad tells me how that's where my grandma grew up, and they used to play in the river, and work on cars in the yard, and they used to listen to records and play board games, and all the floors creak, and all the rusty door hinges squeak, and everything has mosquito netting to keep bugs out, and the paint is peeling and there's no air conditioning, and the grass is 3 feet tall, and there's a rusty old tractor, and a pile of tractor tires, and there's not a paved road within a couple miles.
Eddie Vedder is the last man standing.
At this point he's the godfather of Grunge.
The last of the legendary frontmen. The founders of Grunge.
All the other frontmen of the Big 5 Grunge bands have died.
- Layne Staley (of Alice In Chains)
- Chris Cornell (of Soundgarden & Audioslave & Temple Of The Dog)
- Scott Weiland (of Stone Temple Pilots)
- Kurt Cobain (of Nirvana)
(Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains is still around too, but Layne was the real frontman, and Jerry has always been more of a co-lead/backing vocals.)
To me you could always assign like an "essence" to each of them to them.
Like a characterization to describe their sound and style and voices.
- Layne Staley - he was the Lion Of Grunge. When he opened his mouth he ROARED like some impossible force was trapped inside of him and trying to explode out of him.
- Chris Cornell - he was the Wolf Of Grunge. His voice was a dark unearthly majestic howl.
- Scott Weiland - he was like the "chillin' and stoned on a road trip to the beach" vibe.
- Kurt Cobain - kinda just mopey, honestly. lol
- Eddie Vedder - the Old Hound Of Grunge. His voice is a mournful, wistful, nostalgic, yowling howl of longing for something long gone.
EVEN FLOW:
Freezin'
Rests his head on a pillow made of concrete again
Oh, feelin'
Maybe he'll see a little betters, any days
Oh, hand out
Faces that he sees time again ain't that familiar
Oh, dark grin
He can't help, when he's happy, he looks insane
Even flow, thoughts arrive like butterflies
Oh, he don't know, so he chases them away
Oh, someday yet he'll begin his life again
Life again, life again
Kneelin'
Lookin' through the paper though he doesn't know to read
Oh, prayin'
Now to something that has never showed him anything
Oh, feelin'
Understands the weather of the winter's on its way
Oh, ceilings
Few and far between all the legal halls of shame
Even flow, thoughts arrive like butterflies
Oh, he don't know, so he chases them away
Oh, someday yet he'll begin his life again
Whispering hands gently lead him away
Him away, him away
Yeah, ooh, ah yeah, fuck it up
Even flow, thoughts arrive like butterflies
Oh, he don't know, so he chases them away
Ah, someday yet he'll begin his life again
Whispering hands gently lead him away
Him away, him away
Yeah, ooh
This song always gives me the nostalgia feels. It sends me back to my 2nd grade era of my life when my late uncle George would take me to see PEARL JAM and other bands. I felt so worldly being the or few kids in some 20 somethings in mosh pits at concerts. Good times, great memories.
Another band i'm not really a fan of but I know a lot of their songs. This channel has made me realize there are a lot of them.
All the members were from WA, except the singer, Eddie Vedder, who was from Southern California.
Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament and Mike McCready never get the respect that they deserve. ✌
Have you heard of The Hu Band? They are a Mongolian heavy metal band and they are AWESOME.
Never! Sounds good
These guys played one of the best shows I've ever seen in San Antonio. Sick. I hope you love them! Thanks for your awesome videos. 🙂 PS I forgot, it was either the guitarist's or bassist's bithday that day. Eddie stopped the show brough out a huge cake and smaked it in the guys face. It was great!
Black and Jeremy highlights Eddie Vedders voice
They took Rock Anger to a new level and all the way to the bank. Ka-ching!
Kaching indeed!!
I learned alot about the pearl jam and the song. I always enjoy learning something new with you.
Almost lost the headphones, Diane! Rock on!
Thanks Diane! I can't say that I am a huge Pearl Jam fan (they are just not my jam, ha ha), but this song is pretty good IMO. I enjoyed your commentary after the song as always. I always learn something which is great! Can't imagine going to a concert and getting killed. I guess you never know when and how.
It’s scary!!! Don’t think on it too much
The situation referenced was very tragic indeed. Happened at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark in 2000. I can't possibly do it justice other than to encourage anyone interested to look up the incident on their own for the full story. "Love Boat Captain" was written as an homage/reminder of the nine people lost that day.
What I remember most about Pearl Jam is how all the girls I knew swooned over Eddie Vedder. Weird Al even wrote a song about it & Adam Sandler also joked about it on SNL.
Good news, Eddie is still alive and is a Vedderan of countless tours/concerts with Pearl Jam. Check out the band Temple of the Dog, 'Hunger Strike', Chris Cornell and Eddie singing together, pretty sick!🤘
Enjoying your reactions 🙌
My first tattoo was the stick man from PJ's "Alive" EP. I'd love to see a reaction to Alive, but every reaction to Black Unplugged has been excellent!
I've seen PJ 5 times. They are incredible!!!
PEARL JAM greatest grunge band ever!
love you Diane, watching your video without the music is hilarous. Such expression...
Although I'm an 80s guy I do love pearl jam. Was a good band. The album 10 was in my opinion the best from them😋
10, Core, nevermind, and Superunknown were all fantastic albums from around that time.
Hope you’re feeling better
You *must* do Jeremy! Complete with a deep dive into the lyrics... Pearl Jam is part of the soundtrack of my life...
Happy Wednesday Diane. I Hope you soon get over the cold/allergies, they are definitely not fun. Nice reaction as usual. If you haven’t checked out Abba yet, I think you would enjoy them, they are the biggest group to come out of Sweden. 🇸🇪
Pearl Jam’s Ten was my first album I ever had. I loved it so much right as I went into seventh grade. You really need to check out video for Jeremy
Love pearl jam
Rock looks good on you❤️🤘 listen to eddy singing “release me” has a fine range and a lot slower pace
You should check out Pearl Jam black MTV unplugged. The best emotionally live acoustic performance you will ever see.
Awesome band. Love your reactions. You always put out good content and you're gorgeous.
I reacted the same to Pearl Jam the first time I listened to them. In 1990.
great band, my favorite song is Dissident from their second album, no video but I believe might be their best song overall.
This brings that cool air I felt in my lungs the day I saw this video on MTV when it premiered.
The essence of Grunge rock right here, and then it slowly faded.
Thanks for reacting to it Diane!
😊
Hi Diane. I hope you are very well thank you for bringing nice music I like Pearl Jam I enjoy a lot of you reacting I sent to you a kiss and a hug and Merry Christmas God bless you.
Thank you for the fun video, Diane! My Chihuahua, Brutis was doing his special dance that he has for this song. He was trying to sing along but he doesn't know the words and well, he doesn't know how to talk, yet😢 Give Chewie a hug for me and I hope you two have happy dreams tonight!❤😊
Can’t blame the dog for it’s bad taste in music
My first time seeing Pearl Jam in concert is when they opened with Nirvana for the Red Hot Chili Peppers!! I have seen them 5 times live!!
Black is one of my favorites and Jeremy is a great song too.
My favorite song is Garden!
Man this is one of my favorite songs from this band. Pearl Jam is a pretty damn awesome band and I will admit it I do enjoy their music a lot. Thank you for the reaction video again.
Are you from America?
I was thinking as you started this I would LOVE to see your reaction to the Jeremy music video! I still remember seeing it for the first time as a kid in my living room in the 90s!
6:00 I swear this song was woven into the background of my early teens. It is immensely familiar
I hope you and Chewie have a good week
Pearl Jam really made some fantastic music. The album 10 was epic. I had to laugh when you couldn't understand the lyrics, because there are meme/parody videos about Eddy Vedder's words being incomprehensible. That being said, he's an incredible singer. If you watch the MTV Unplugged version of them playing "Black" and perhaps pull up the lyrics, you'll get a real appreciation for the talent, poetry, and emotion in the performance. Great reaction!
And now Seattle is just one big open air drug market and homeless encampment. Way to go.
This was one of the first albums I ever bought. Looking forward to seeing your reactions, Diane!
Hope you enjoy it!
