It’s really cool that his moveset is not only from ASB, but a mixture of ASB and HFTF from both normal and shadow dio. The person who made the mod it’s a legend honestly
guys like him should document and explain how he managed to do all this, so people can make more new characters. that kind of knowledge should not be kept to just someone.
I knew a bunch of the play style was straight out of ASBR, but then I saw that he only gets a double jump when he’s Stand On, just like HFTF…

ASB/ASBR is pretty much just a remake of HFTF because it adapts a majority of the moves from HFTF to an insane degree.

I opened up the video and legit thought Dio was a crossover character that got added to DBFZ. That's how good it looks.
I did too. I keep telling myself this is a mod because I keep thinking this is official.
The face is a little wonky at certain angles but if they could fix that it’d truly be perfect everything else is flawless
Give the DBFZ modding scene a couple more years, and this will become the unofficial "Shonen MUGEN" fighting game on PC. There is more than enough games to get characters from with decent art styles to work with.

So in a few years DBFZ will turn into another Ran Ran Ruu game.

12:46 I think its just cause most of the characters are hunched over and crouching. If you correct their posture, the difference is less noticeable. I think Cell, Cooler and a few others stand mostly upright.
It's also probably due to the fact that almost every protagonist or villain in JJBA is between 6-7 feet tall, while many characters in DBZ are not. His height seems reasonably accurate, especially considering your point that he is standing straight while the majority of the cast maintain a lower stance.
I think the fact he almost comes up to Z Broly's height, who is standing straight, is still frightening
@@goldenlizard92 Yup. Early Araki had a strange fixation with pointing out how exceptionally tall the Joestar family were, be it through narration boxes or clunkily-worded character dialogue. It's such an unimportant detail, but that makes Araki's absolute dedication to bringing attention to it all the more entertaining.
This Dio is rocking Johnathan Joestar's body, and that guy was an absolute unit who was massive in his teens. I can def believe the size difference here

It's so cool how he has aspects from both ASBR and HFTF. The stand roman cancels work EXACTLY like in ASBR, as well as the translation of his other moves is SO impressive too!

Coming from an animator and game designer perspective; manually animating things like this is meditative, as it's one of very few aspects of game design that's actually enjoyable - it's the programming to stitch everything together that's irritating...

@@Jeffmetal42 There's too much licensing involved compared to most brands, the crossovers we've already had were way more expensive to make than even other arena fighters because of all the characters alone.
im still mad we never got the one piece 3ds fighter by arc system works because it also means we didnt get the update for the 3ds DBZ fighter that let the two fight each other

@@Hinokami777 It will never happen because it expensive to make and too risky. Which is why they're soo many arena anime fighting games then they are 2D traditional anime fighter games (Unless you're the Dragon Ball IP).
I feel like this is a big, clear sign to Bandai and ArcSys that they need to get back together again and make either a JoJo game or a J Stars game

There's some small jank but this is downright impressive. An entirely unique model that uses moves from both ASB and HFTF, made from what I can see the ground up. Not even a model port, done in the same style of DBF.
What’s funny about that is that Cell’s JP VA, Norio Wakamoto, voiced DIO before in a radio drama of JoJo!

Fun fact: The Jotaro VA in dub is for Hit in dub which is a nice reference in this mod trailer/showcase (i also do not know people made this comment yet)
This mod just made me realize the crossover potential Arcsis Style has, literally every Shonen Jump manga in existence can be translated to this style of Cellshading. Imagine having finally a proper 3 vs 3 fighting game with all of the Shonen Jump giants instead of the usual Battle Arena.

What I dislike about Mugen is how almost nothing matches art style wise. The UMVC3CE, MVCIB & now this mod, the "guest" character matches the look.
@@toysmostwantedwell of course it won't. If hundreds of different people make characters their art styles will absolutely not match, even if they try their hardest to stay close to the source's art style
Yeah...that's the point, it really just depends on who makes the game though, which again IS the point of mugen
thats like, the point of mugen. its an engine for thousands of different kinds of people making their own characters, stages, and huds.
its a sandbox, if you want everything to work together you either get the necessary components yourself to match or find someone who did it for you.@@toysmostwanted
@@toysmostwanted That's not a trait of Mugen itself though; Mugen's just a fighting game engine, with only a single official character and two official stages. If stuff doesn't match, that's entirely on you, or on whoever set up the particular character roster and whatnot you're using, for picking stuff that doesn't match.
Of course, if one were to stick every single Mugen character ever created into a single roster most of them wouldn't match, but you can't really blame Mugen for that. People are free to create stuff; you can't exactly expect everyone to go forth and independently create matching things. In the exact same way that fighting games as a whole don't have a singular, overall matching art style between games, Mugen doesn't have a singular, overall matching art style in its stuff either
This guy transported All Star Battle Dio, mixed with Heritage from the Future Dio into FighterZ and makes it look good.
This is why people saw we need a new JoJo fighting game like the old Heritage one
fun fact: every move that this mod has ripped from either Part1 Dio or Part3 Dio in ASBR. knives in time stop function a bit closer to HFTF knives i believe (i don't play Dio in HFTF). i just think that's cool
The knives super turning into HftF knives during timestop was also a thing in ASB, iirc.

Funny thing is that in this trailer, DIO is fighting Hit, who in the english dub was voiced by Matthew Mercer, the same voice actor as Jotaro in the english dub

I played alot of Jojo's Allstar Battle Royale recently and even got the platinum on PS5 and I can tell every animation borrowed from that game lol like every couple seconds I'm watching I'm like "Omg its that move! or OMG he got that combo in here!?" the detail and work in this mod is insane, absolutely amazing job to kongmeng!

It's neat that most of the moveset's animations are based directly on ASB, and yet all it takes is the simple change of giving it that "low frame rate" effect and the drawn smears for the visuals to basically perfectly match DBFZ's style
Man i was still reeling that DIOs VA plays a villain character in the character story event in GFL2 and now I see hes in the defacto Dragon Ball Z Fighting game. Theres truly no escaping this godpire man thing regardless of medium.

If anything he's more like Relius Clover from BlazBlue than Zato, and Relius Clover himself plays a lot like active stand characters in Jojo Heritage for the Future. It all comes full circle.

What blows my mind is that things like the stand on/off movesets, special canceling to attack alongside your special and timestop that lets you move around rather than just being a visual effect in a super aren't mechanics that exist in this game. I can't even begin to imagine how much work went into implementing this kind of functionality into the code, much less doing so without breaking anything.
