      @@reds_4life23 idk if this helps but, Im a lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) In NYC and I know for us at my pool, we use a CPR mask that is made for both adults and children. The mask goes over the distressed persons nose, down to the chin so you won't need to worry about closing the nose. It has a nozzle on the other end of the mask that lets you push air through and filters out everything going in your direction so that nothing gets through your mouth like vomit, or anything that obstructs the patrons mouth when you are doing breaths. pinching the nose while giving breaths is just to secure the air going down the airway, but not everyone does it that way. Redcross is always updating their methods.

    My son choked on a penny when he was 3yrs old and my first instict was to slap him hard on his back(thought i broke his ribs) but the damn penny was stuck so i immediately stuck my two fingers in his mouth and dig for that penny until i felt it and grabbed it,i now see that was a bad move and i felt my fingers turning into rubber and stretching like spaghetti,he threw up after and my eyes filled with tears and a sense of relief..when your a young mother and you don't know CPR your motherly love will do whatever it takes to save your child,my son terrible 2 lasted until terrible 3 and it was a nightmare! So grateful he is here with me today and will turn 15yrs old next month,i am looking at this video to be prepared for grand kids in the future if needed but i hope i never do.

      Same😫...but it was a birthday balloon that popped & my 2yr put it in her mouth.
      As soon as I noticed her making gagging motions & holding her throat, i didn’t even think and stuffed 2 fingers down her throat to pull it out . The whole time I think I forgot to breath myself.
      I was so relieved when it came out that I nearly passed out crying.
      Since then I watched these type of videos probably once a year just to keep myself in the know how and that next time I’ll be able to remain calm as well knowing what I know.

      When I was 14 a kid I was babysitting started choking on a piece of apple, he coughed at first and then he stopped making sounds and his face turned all red. So my first instinct was to grab that apple piece out of his throat and hey it worked but I was so so scared. I've heard of a lot of women doing this and it just happened to work out (thank god). With infant, we need to give initial rescue breath of 5 before compression because with infant it is more on respiratory arrest than cardiac arrest (they just stop breathing).You also need to do CPR for 1 full minute before calling ambulance to save the infant.

      Hello, our video follows the Australian resuscitation guidelines for infant resuscitation. They do not recommend rescue breaths for layperson CPR. Other countries (and organisations) may have different guidelines.

    thank you for this great video. When doing CPR on a child and you're giving 2 breathes do you pinch their nose while tilting their head? Are you able to do a video for CPR on a child please? Forgive me if there is one, I couldn't locate it. Cheers, Betty

      Hi Betty, on a baby put your mouth around their nose and mouth. For a child, pinch their nose for breaths. Here is the link to the child video :) ruclips.net/video/mr4wb7J-Wv8/видео.html and follow us on FB - we do lots of live videos on child health subjects all the time!

    Me: **thinking she would count the compressions calmly**
    Her: ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR!
    I'm kidding, this was seriously very helpful.

    excellent display but CPR duration before stop is not clearly explained. Although she said one can only stop when exhausted.

    I learned that not stopping compressions is best and if there is another person who can help one person does non-stop compressions and the other person does mouth to mouth. Does this apply to babies?

    • @cprkids
      @cprkids  3 года назад

      The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends 30 compressions to 2 breaths, unless you are unwilling or unable to do breaths, then do continuous compressions.

    in previous trainings I've had, we ALWAYS checked for a brachial pulse as part of the LOOK, LISTEN, and FEEL, to never do compressions on an already beating heart. Has this changed?

    • @MISSMARLENE7
      @MISSMARLENE7 4 года назад

      regular lay people or non medical people no longer have to check for a pulse. just for the chest to rise and fall. if the chest is not rising then start compression's immediately
