Hi Elaine. As of October 14, 2020, Google has temporarily suspended the "request indexing" tool for "technical updates". It appears they are rolling out some new updates to Google Search Console so hopefully they bring it back soon. You can read the update here: support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6211453#url_inspection
Good news, the "Request Indexing" feature in Google Search Console is back as of 12.23.2020. twitter.com/googlesearchc/status/1341437011618623496?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
Just noticed all my pages except for the home URL, have ZERO 0 Views. I also noticed I slightly changed the URL but on shopify there's a button to forward the link to the original link. I assume this doesn't apply to Google search console...
Hi Mike. Not sure I can answer with 100% confidence, but I'd probably use the forward feature to the original URL. Not sure why you have zero views though without knowing more unfortunately. Hopefully that helps a little.
I really want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. watched like 10 videos but finally this helped me. Never stop making videos. I love you. I hope you have millions of subscribers.
Thank you for this clear video. I have submitted my website URLs for index request using the URL inspection tool but there is no indication that any process is happening. I did this a few days ago and when I check the main URL of my home page it just says "URL is not on Google" and again I have a button to click "request indexing" which I did in the first place. How do I know what is happening? Thank you!
Hi Charlie! Unfortunately this process is taking longer these days (than when I first recorded this video). From my experience, new pages or posts are still indexing fairly quickly, it's more so existing pages/posts that are taking longer to reindex. Sometimes several weeks. And Google Search Console gives no indication on what's happening. We're on Google's time... 1) You could try resubmitting your sitemap. 2) Make sure the page/post isn't set to "No Index" which sometimes can happen if you are using a WordPress plugin like Yoast. 3) Then try submitting the individual URL again. And keep trying.
My URL definitely appears when do a site: search. Furthermore, when I click on the the three-dot menu next to my URL I see this note: "google indexed this site more than 10 years ago" However, when do a URL test in GSC I still get URL is not on Google.
Did this and for your "Step 5 - Simply wait" it took less than 2 minutes of waiting time. Literally, less than 120 seconds later our new LOGO.com blog post was in the Google search results. Going to write a blog post about this and will include/link to this video!
If you make a smaller change like this, you don't really need to request reindexing. Google will naturally recognize this change the next time it crawls your site, which Google does on a regular basis. I should also mention that as of October 14, 2020, Google has temporarily suspended the "request indexing" tool for "technical updates". It appears they are rolling out some new updates to Google Search Console so hopefully they bring it back soon. You can read the update here: support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6211453#url_inspection
You won't be able to use this technique on your blogger site, BUT that doesn't mean the blogger site can't rank on its own. However, you'll just have to wait for Google to find and index it naturally.
a very useful tool for google, it is very well developed, I highly recommend it, thank you very much for your video which was very well explanatory. like and sub
I have tried this, waited for a week and still the URL is not on Google. No Errors are show on the console. I go back in every 3rd day and request indexing but still no luck.
I would recommend only as often as you make large changes to a page/post -or- when you create a new page/post. There is no penalty for doing it too much. But once you have an existing page/post indexed, Google won't re-index it as quickly as a brand new page/post. As of today, there are no limits on the number of times you can do this per day.
Tell me how we can index the pages of our services on Webmaster? Websites that are already indexed, but after some changes I want to index my services page on Google again.
Michael Quinn I just subscribed to your channel nobody does it so well and so short. I am anew blogger in the tech niche can you help me with info on how and where to get latest tech news? of course it is within your abilities thank you!!
I don't believe there is a way. Because in order to use Google Search Console for those sites, you'd need to be able to verify them via Analytics access, HTML code, Google Tag Manager, etc-which you wouldn't have a way to do (that I know of). You might be able to for Google Sites and Blogger... support.google.com/webmasters/answer/34592?hl=en&ref_topic=9128571#zippy=
No, if you submit your sitemap, Google will index all your pages and posts. This video is just for if you want to expedite the process, or have made major changes, on certain URLs.
I am a volunteer with a non-profit and your videos are wonderful! Just one suggestion on this one, It took me a while to figure out that the search console you were referencing was on the Google Webmaster and not in Google Analytics. You are a great instructor and thank you for your help!
Thanks for the feedback Karen. I'm sorry for the confusion. It can be confusing as Google has changed the names of several of their platforms over the years. In fact, Google's "Webmaster Tools" is now called "Search Console".
Unfortunately, not using Google Search Console. However, RUclips videos usually index almost instantly on Google. If you update an existing RUclips video, it will often take a week or two for the thumbnail and title to update on Google.
Hmm, these are the only three things I can think of off the top of my head that would be causing that... 1) Have you verified the domain in Search Console? 2) If so, make sure you've selected the correct domain from the Search Console drop down. 3) Are you logged into the correct email address?
Interesting. Check to see that the URL is *not* set to "noindex". Otherwise, it could be a sitemap issue possibly. Search Console should give you additional details in the "Page indexing" section.
Unfortunately, I haven't ever run into this issue. However, Google Search Console should provide you with instructions on how to fix this issue with the error message. Is it not?
Do we get email from google search console that your site indexed successfully if yes so it been a week i didnt get that email nor i cant see my site on google what to do pls help
Sorry to hear that. In that case it could be a number of issues. Search Console will usually give you some kind of direction on what the issue is. All I can say is I recently ran into a similar issue and it was an issue with the Robots.txt file. It was set to "Disallow" rather than "Allow" on some pages. Just look this up in Search Console help or on Google/RUclips for more answers.
Sir I have a question! Actually I need to update my old blog. I just need to change the internal links in them. Now I'm thinking, if I submit it to search console for re index, will my blog lose its ranking? If I change internal linking? The only internal linking existing redirects to the home page. I want to change them to my other blogs. Will Doing it affect the site negatively?
You might see a temporary drop after resubmitting to Google, but if you've done your internal linking well then your rankings should improve to be even better than they were... after a little while. I actually just recorded a demo about improving blogs and internal linking. I plan to publish in the two weeks. I'll share it with you once it is finished.
And the existing internal links are all broken; so they redirect to the home page. But my one blog of 2000 words has like 8 such internal links that redirect to home page. And that's for a lot of blogs. I just realised. Is that bad?
You can redirect to the homepage if there is no other relevant page to redirect to. Better to redirect to home page than nothing. If possible, redirect to the most relevant page or blog. But in terms of having 8 links going to the home page, that seems excessive. I would only have one link going back to the home page. And if the rest are broken, just remove those other hyperlinks altogether.
Thank you very much, that was very helpful. But what about the tags? Because if apost is aimed towards a specific topic, I would like to find out how to do it.
Thank you. I am aware. I've added that note in the video description. Here's the latest news on that: www.seroundtable.com/google-search-console-request-indexing-disavow-tool-30633.html

Bummer! Give it time. I am seeing similar results that it is taking longer. I assume the Covid-19 crisis may have something to do with it.
Michael,
How often should I request indexing from Google if I don't modify my site in any way? Should a person limit the use of this tool?
I would recommend only as often as you make large changes to a page/post -or- when you create a new page/post. There is no penalty for doing it too much.
