Electro 1 album probs. Well that was . Dougie fresh pac man wikki wikki . I'm a drag queen now though but hey still performing at 60 and can still throw flares
Nah this was a show on channel 4 called Bachanall. I recorded it on VHS and it was early to mid 84. I used to pop with a crew around Covent Garden at the same time. Great memories. Yes the original audio had Timezone Wildstyle, not ET boogie as is on this excerpt.
I recorded it as well, had a full 3 hr tape full or excerpts from back in the day. Younger sister recorded over it with Pippi Longstocking years after, I wasn't pleased. Good to see this clip though - cheers!
i was a good dancer too in 80 and 90 decada but recentlly i recorded some video and add at the you tube in this addess ( gas station attendant 45 years old good dancer ) from brazil i just recorded these videos to show to young people a little bit of the my break dance time ( 80,90 ) i hope you understand me and pardon my bad english im dinho break from brazil hugs
@Belopolskiy Thanks for that update i was thinking 83 just because of the elements that brought Breaking and Hip Hop to the UK. 82 seemed a bit early I had relatives living in New York at that time and i knew some of what was going on stateside but saw little evidence of it over here.
James Brown was the originator of many moves taken and refined by breakers, especially in terms of popping and slides. James was doing what he called 'the robot' back in the 70's.
Screenonline lists transmission as 12th May 1984 but if Dolby says its 82 they must've filmed it then and waited 2 years to show it . Anyway you got some really good videos on your channel. Thanks for the feedback
The substitue music (ET Boogie ) is definitely 82 ,But the earliest this was produced was 1984 . The three things that inspired Hip Hop in the UK was Wildstyle Malcolm McClaren's Buffalo Girls Video and Flashdance all came out over here around 83. Only UK Rap/Electro music predates Breaking And Graffiti as we know it.I'm going try to upload the Graffiti part of this doc soon.
MASTERMIND ROADSHOW WERE PLAYING HIP HOP IN 1981 AT CARNIVAL HERBIE MIXED THE FIRST EVER ELECTRO LP FOR STREETSOUNDS ...LONDON HAD HIP HOP ON PIRATE RADIO...WHEN WESTWOOD WAS STILL A SOULBOY.
@funkateer17 He didn't see B-boys the FIRST time he was in NY no, he saw the Buffalo gals vid when he got back, then got down with the b-boys when he moved back to NY the second time in 84 :) and ya, I was with him when he got the award, we got the coach up :)
The original Audio contained samples of Goodtimes and Timezones Wildsyle when i tried to upload it there was an automatic block youtube censors every track owned by Warner Music Group.
@TerryvisionTank Yeh it's coz this is in Sidewalk days which 82 onwards when Dolby had not long been breakin, by 84 it was London Allstars when Dolby had come back from living in NY :) Thanks, have you watched the 3 part Style Wars thing of Dolby in my favourites?
Definitely not 1982 and I'll tell you why. Dolby D copied that popping styled routine at around 3:41 from the American popper Normski. If you don't believe me checkout the popping scene from Flashdance, which came out in 1983 so this must've been 1984 after the UK poppers watched the movie. 👊
Id originally put it as 84 then bboy corosive said no he knows one of the guys who said yeah 82 and on and on it goes. So im going to put the Broadcast date and leave it that .
+Mentor Hype - I have to agree. The poppin' is definitely copied from Normski. The umbrella part is also copied - both from Flashdance. In addition, breaking was not at all big until '84 in the UK. I know as I was around then. '82 - nothing. '83 - it bubbled a little bit. '84 - it went huge - mainly due to Beat Street. '85 - slowly the shift was going to house music but bboying was still around. '86 - house.
all y'all wrong...Richie rich used to be in sidewalk,by the time this was broadcast he had moved on and was one of the top hip hop dj's in the uk at the time, and went on to have a career in hip hop as kiss fm's first hip hop dj and a few hip hop 12's to his name,he ain't in this footage and the level of skill in poppin ' & graffiti had evolved beyond this programme.

Nice 😄💚BCHadoken!
Locking and Popping are original funk dances first developed in the early and mid 1970s.
James Brown was the originator of many moves taken and refined by breakers, especially in terms of popping and slides. James was doing what he called 'the robot' back in the 70's.
Breaking is also original funk dance developed in the early and mid 70s, and so what.
What kind of music did Kool Herc play at his parties?)

Don't forget Breakdance 1 & 2 Electric Boogaloo..and Beat Street. These films also kicked off the dance craze in the U.K.
