If anyone didn't know, Kratos was already killed in the first boss fight with Thor but we all know happened after that. Then when Atreus saw himself with Odin that was when he ran away from Kratos and the others.
The thing with Kratos is actually referring to how the prophecy was supposed to happen, but ultimately it didn’t and Odin died instead, especially because the snake like image you can see might refer to Odin’s soul being ripped out of him

I always figured that kratos death prophecy pretty much happened in the first fight with Thor and Thor just decided Kratos wasn't done yet
