Great build, same engine and power of 125ps/123bhp (standard) not 130bhp (but induction/exhaust/etc probably makes the difference) as stated standard power same as my 2001 6n2 Polo GTI (the less weight helped Lupo lots)... have a K&N panel filter for whatever power difference it makes...or not! VW should have put that stronger 6-speed hydraulic box in the 6n2 Polo GTI rather than the weak 5-speed which is the poorly part in my 113000mile 6n2 Polo GTI restoration currently.
Oh yeah i agree. The 5-speed in the Polo GTI and even the early Lupo GTI didn't help the performance. My polo GTi felt less alert than this car. The extra 200kgs didnt help but I think more so the 5 speed. Thanks for your comment 👍

Hi and thank you for the comment, things to look out for. Door rubbers can let water in the car if they're a bit worn, and before you know it your carpet is soaked. That was a problem on this one and my previous one. Rear subframe can and does rust, look out for that although it's not very expensive to have that welded. Other than that it's just the usual Volkswagen leaking vales (like my one), and I think that's about it. They are old cars now so have a good look around it, and you are buying an extremely rare colour. ( future classic )

Lol, it's not as bad as all that. If I can ever get to your Lupo's standard be fun to do a comparison video - don't quite have your budget so take lot longer however.
@@markturner-smith5309 that would be great , I'm up for it
@@samartzis2000 hopefully getting the suspension (Koni ST-R dampers/Eibech pro- line springs)/box sorted by end of this winter, little bits of bodywork following that so be presentable (few sill dents both side, bonnet was keyed and age related chips and scratches to roof, scratches to rear spoiler, battle scared rear bumper ones side either a respray or replacement the minor tidy ups for now) for filming as such but full blowover re-spray that's going to many years yet before can do. I'm Bournemouth based.
Lovely car ! Going to look at one the same colour as yours tomorrow!! Hope it has the same potential! Anything to look out for?
Hi and thank you for the comment, things to look out for. Door rubbers can let water in the car if they're a bit worn, and before you know it your carpet is soaked. That was a problem on this one and my previous one. Rear subframe can and does rust, look out for that although it's not very expensive to have that welded. Other than that it's just the usual Volkswagen leaking vales (like my one), and I think that's about it. They are old cars now so have a good look around it, and you are buying an extremely rare colour. ( future classic )
i just bought one of these for £1600 with 112k miles, completely standard apart from full exhaust system and manifold, previous owner just spent £2000 on servicing and bilstein suspension, i got a hell of a steal compared to you. paint on mine isnt the best but can not complain for the price.
and the gearbox just been rebuilt too :)
Lol, it's not as bad as all that. If I just sold the exhaust ,sold the Bathurst wheels and the steering wheel, also the sub and amp, I would have got quite a good deal, but I did over spend on a sat nav, full refurbish wheels etc. I know what you mean but it's ok, I know what's gone into this one now and it does drive like its only a couple of years old. Have you still got your one?
@@samartzis2000 yeah i picked it up a day after this video funnily enough :) need to sort a few things but its a pretty nice car. what satnav is that you got? i like the way you got one thats period correct and it doesnt look out of place at all.
@@Nizacx The sat-nav is a VW MFD1. It was Volkswagens sat nav from 2001 to 2005. I first saw it in my friends R32 and that's the same year as the Lupo. Also, some Lupo owner's are lucky enough to have bought a Lupo with one fitted from new (as an optional extra ). it doesn't work anywhere near as good as the modern ones, but I didn't buy for that reason.
@@Nizacx I forgot to mention that the sat nav is the only one that fits in the slot. Dont get the MFD2 etc because they will not go into your dashboard. If you look on eBay you can find them as cheap as £150 and as expensive as £300. You will also need the little sat nav antenna which is only about £10
