Thanks very much, I found out about them rivnuts after I done this! All because of that I might attack it again this summer. Good luck with yours. Next video, an air induction kit and then the stubby drivers mirror conversion. Thanks again
its always the way! which induction kit are you using? are you modifying the engine cover so you can keep it? i'm doing DTM mirrors on mine, currently painting them. Also getting a 1.8t conversion, i have all the parts and just waiting to have the engine built.
@@chrisb00k 1.8i, very nice. Also I love the DTMs, I've owned this car for 2 years now and even though is high mileage I do have a lot of history on it and a rolling road report that I can't understand? It claims to have 125 brake horsepower at the wheels, and the thing that is really puzzling me is 175 foot pounds of torque,?? These cars are supposed to have about 112lbs. I've got no catalyst and I have an induction kit and I don't know what else has been done to the car? But we'll find out soon cos I'm going back to a rolling road.
Ah yes how I would love a European trip. I have been as far as Athens twice, but in this car maybe Germany, and if I have some spare money this summer, I will do, and take lots of cameras.
@@samartzis2000That sound amazing I wanna go to Switzerland and Germany with my lupo gti, but Portugal and Lisbon, take the Lupo gti to circuito Estoril, its cheap good fun, good weather, good food and every time I take my mk2 focus rs mate every buddy goes crazy, I get thumbs up on the motor way, people aproatch me with question, but all good no stress, they love it. Thats why Im taking my lupo gti next time, its a scarçe car down there and the gti scene is mad to.
Thanks for your comment. Just one thing, do not use self tapper screws on the window, use a rivnut tool. If you watch my maintenance video you will see an update. Good luck with your conversion
It could be your rubber seals? Check them because they can split and let water in ,also they weaken and squash over time letting water in. If it leaks around the handle area then change the 2 rubber washers that that go between the glass and handle.
@@samartzis2000 it’s leaking from the top between the glass & rubber. Could it be I haven’t removed enough of the old rubber around the window or is because I haven’t locked the nuts in tight enough?
Hello mate rate the quality of your work 10/10. One question once you removed the old sealant you got the frame to bare metal, painted it and then stuck the rubber seal. Did you use any sealant or anything after
@NayteSingh The opening windows don't have sealant, its just the push on rubber window seals. That's why when you take off the non- opening windows, it's important to clean all of it off because when you have the windows open , all that old sealant will show.
To be honest with you I'm not really sure? I've seen professionals use a type of solution to soften the rubber down and that's all that I'm aware of.? Thanks
As far as I know pop outs were never even an option on the GTI. Bonded glass gave the body more rigidity I guess. My SE has them as standard so I haven't had to go through the hassle you have. Nice job tho.
I never thought of that before Lucy. However it does make sense, I have never seen a GTI with standard pop out rear windows and when I bought these they were off a Lupo that had a few extras like alloy wheels etc so that might have been an SE? Well that's something I've learnt today , thanks Lucy.
Well done bro

Thank you very much Jamie. Look out for the next one.
Only video I could find really showing how it's done. Thanks mate you're a legend.
No problem man . I'm not the best, actually I'm a bit crap , but I do my best. Cheers 🍻
good job, nice to see it done properly. i'm doing mine in the summer, vw actually sell rivnuts for the bolts so you dont have to use self tappers.

hello do you have rear handle screws oe codes ???
I'm sorry I dont? I bought every part second hand. I might have a pair spare somewhere, I'll look and get back to you.
I done this conversion but I’m getting water leaking through at the top. What can I do to stop this?

A link to the windows?
You have to find a lupo in a scrap yard, or try ebay. But a scrap yard is more common.
