Here I am sitting here with tears streaming down my face, a drink and coffee in hand, thinking about my first wife and what happened to blow our marriage(26 years) out of the water.
I truly loved her but somehow it came to an end, and 15 years later I still grieve.
Though I adore my wife (11 years) and love her without reservation, somehow my first love kind of defined my life . And it doesn't really matter that she may not feel the same way, at all, my heart was broken completely and though time is supposed to heal and change all that, somehow it still gets to me and that is probably why I'm such a mess tonight.
I'm sorry about your failed marriage but, if you really loved her you really should have fought for her! 26 years is a long time to try and forget someone you love so very much! I will tell you, Sir you never forget your love of your life, even if you are with someone else! Sorry but, you really just put them in the depths of your heart ❤forever and you quietly continue to love them ❤.

I remember the Everly Bros. having this song as one of their big hits and it was a big hit for them, but Brenda gives this song another level to which we can enjoy her great talent and voice. She was not known as "Little Miss Dynamite" for no reason. She was one of the first female artists in the early years of "Rock & Roll" and went on to be a true "SUPERSTAR"!!

Recently on May 20 2014 on Wikipedia and this song "Let it be me" I was the one who entered the fact about Brenda Lee singing this song on her 1965 album. Brenda Lee sings Top Teen Hits. I love this song and when I looked it up to see the history about it. I found many artists covered it but Brenda's name was not included so I remedied it.

"Let It Be Me" started out as a French song, ""Je t'appartiens" (translation - "I Belong to You"). It was written and performed by Gilbert Bécaud in 1955. In 1959, Brenda Lee performed with Bécaud at the famous Paris Olympia. She was 14, a student by day and starring at a night club in the evening. Amazing? Yes, but then so is Brenda Lee.

I was barely a teenager when her "Bowl Weevil was a major hit. I had to hide my actions and re-arrange some equipment south of the border to hide an embarrassing condition that sprung up every time I heard it. She had such a magical voice with that song!
You're thinking of Teresa Brewer who had a big record with "Bol Weevil" in 1956, but I liked your story! I don't think Brenda ever recorded that song, but Teresa is another one of my favorite singers! People do mistake Brenda for Teresa sometimes.
