I think the peak of Ostfront is how they managed to make the Western front Germany campaign feel like you're constantly losing. Defending a town in 1944 and having one of the tanks that turns up to support be a Char B1 will never not be funny.
Ah yes, Osfront. A game where you are at mid campaign germany with only 2 stugs and 3 panzer iii then the soviet throws a column of KV, and T-34s like there's no tomorrow. Also your uncovered panzer ace tank that you just got emotionally attached to just got burnt by a swarm of lvl 1 partisan.

The only thing missing from the american sherman line up in GOH is the M4A2 varients which are only available on the soviet tree, which you can argue is accurate to the lend lease deal, but I'm not sure why it wouldn't be on the US tree as well.
Hey Eta320, I see you use the campagain mode to view all the vehicles! There is an editor mode in which you can find many hidden tanks which you can find in the doctrine game modes, and also just in campaigns. From the M42 Truppenfahrrand to the Pz.756(r), and even things like the 50mm Grappling gun launcher, Gaz98, "Nkl26", SU-100Y,
17:53 My only complaint about direct control is that we have no actual First Person perspective outside of mods for infantry. But I can settle for third person and classic MoW view DC.
Probably shouldn't be calling the M36 the Jackson given that the name's a postwar invention, just like Hetzer. Scott meanwhile was a suggested nickname for the M8 HMC put forward in '44, but there's apparently no evidence for it being adopted. Also fun fact; the tank we know as the Sherman Jumbo was never called that, the name was added postwar by a modelling company, likely to help sell the model more, and it's simply stuck ever since.
Jackson is probably a wartime nickname. Red Wrench has an amazing video diving into the M36 (link to it is in the description of this video). In the video he pulls up documents from Armored Archives that show the '90mm Gun Motor Carriage, M36 ------ General Jackson' as listed on a document. There is also a document that shows '(2) 90mm Gun Motor Carriage, T71..... Black Jack' with the 'Black Jack' name under a column for 'Proposed Name' on the document, again suggesting that the name was being thought up of during the war. Admittedly, Red Wrench himself suggests to "use these at your peril" as we don't know exactly when the documents were written. However, since the General Jackson is shown in a list next to General Stuart, General Chaffee, General Sherman, General Scott, and Hellcat, I am personally inclined to believe it was written up during the war, if not within months of V-E day. There is always the possibility that the name was only popularized post war. But in my opinion, the name was assigned to the tank during WWII. (Edit after rewatching the Armored Archives video itself) He doesn't say when the documents were written, but he definitely implies they are wartime nicknames, same for 'Slugger' and even 'Wolverine' for the M10. I know The_Chieftain has his famous quote on how nobody knows where 'Wolverine' came from, but this is one of very few things I disagree with The_Chieftain on, as the US had officially written that TD's be given the names of predator animals (famously 'Hellcat' was used for the M18, but from what I know it was Buick themselves that came up with that name for marketing), and 'Wolf' is used as an example (this is also shown in Armored Archives' video). TL;DR I could always be wrong, but to me the evidence suggests the name was coined and assigned during the war.
@@eta320 Understandable, makes sense to me. I do recall reading that while Scott was suggested for the M8 in '44, it didn't seem to be adopted, but it's a nice enough name that distinguishes it from the Stuart that I'm inclined to keep using it, certainly enough evidence that I've not gotten any real pushback on it over the years anyway. Jackson I've not seen much evidence for (though I've probably not looked as hard as Armoured Archives, so I'm not going to proclaim that I'm an expert on such things). Definitely not seen any evidence. Though honestly I'd take it or leave it with the Jackson, I originally only learned about the M36's existence from its inclusion in Company of Heroes 2 a decade ago. So while it's adoption is likely a postwar thing, I'm inclined to stick with it. Personally I'd reckon that the M10 should keep not having a nickname because Wolverine just doesn't seem to sit right for me. I'm inclined to go with the idea that Wolverine was a postwar adoption and I wouldn't really want to count it as the nickname, and stick with 'M10 Tank Destroyer'. As for why I'm arbitrarily counting Jackson and not Wolverine...personal bias, honestly. as for the Hellcat... well honestly I've got nothing against it and I'm willing to leave that alone because I've just accepted it and done no research.

6:49 The hatches on the engine deck are too far from the edge to be an A3, so I think they were trying to go for the diesel engine here. It would also solve the exhaust issue The engine deck on the M36B1 has the hatches extend to the edge (7:54) So the only thing wrong is that they labeled the M36 not as M36B2
I would be inclined to agree, as I almost felt the same way while editing, but this engine deck has the proper amount of fuel caps on the deck (4 total, each sort of taking a corner of the deck) where the B2 with the diesel has many more (4 on each side, very closely spaced together iirc). Also I’ve since learned that the developers went straight to the group “WWII Armor” down in Florida in the US to model their tanks, and I did some asking around as I know some people who are with that group, and they reported that their M36 is a GAA Gas powered tank. You can also see the engine model inside the grills, and it is a Ford GAA that looks identical to the M4A3’s engines in the game, and not the same as the M4A2 as we’ll see in part 2. So they actually modeled a GAA and a 6046 Twin Diesel, they aren’t using a generic engine model. I think the hatches being too far from the edge is just a modeling error with perspective and scale. TL;DR, I do think they intended to model a gas powered M36, and the exhaust is the genuine error
@@eta320 I completely overlooked the fuel caps lol Its cool that the devs tell people where they went to get references for in game models, I haven't heard of any other game do that.
I know you're only reacting to tanks and probably spgs but you got to check out Hot mod crickets pilot. They have really good models for their cold war stuff
Another way to differentiate the Tiger II by turret is to call them what the Germans called them at the time (or call them that but in English of course) which would be Vorserien-Turm (Preseries Turret) and Serien-Turm (Series Turret). The original turrets were only used as there was a surplus of them and when the Henschel design entered series production they also switched to the new turret (that switch may have been a bit before or after I don't know the exact time on that) and so it was convenient to call the new turret the "series turret" to denote that it was produced for series production of the tank. Also the concept of a tank destroyer had already been floated around in Germany as early as the late 20s when the Weimar Republic experimented with 37mm guns on halftracks, both of which were very unproven concepts at the time, though the gun was likely the TaK 1918, the world's first purpose built AT gun, or derivative of it. I haven't been able to find more information on those experiments with some brief research but I've seen images before in videos so maybe dig that up if you're curious. My point is the Spanish Civil War didn't birth the idea in the German military for a self propelled AT gun but rather reintroduced it or proved it as viable
Do you know what's the best way that I can see trains and tanks are the exact same thing the reason why they run on tracks they both carry men's supplies ammunition fuel just about anything you could want they both can weigh hundreds of tons they both have can be heavily armed or armored and they both can have turrets so what's the difference between a tank and a train
ETA if you want, which I doubt, I play a lot goh. There are a lot of mods which I think you would love to see and play through.I can send you the mod names or if you want we can set up a time or something and we can play together.

TL;DR, I do think they intended to model a gas powered M36, and the exhaust is the genuine error
@@eta320 I completely overlooked the fuel caps lol
Its cool that the devs tell people where they went to get references for in game models, I haven't heard of any other game do that.
You should do one of these for WARNO (I love cold war tanks) or steel division 2 (I like WW2 tanks as well)
Gates of Hell Ostfront is the the BEST WW2 RTS game. Buy it now.
Tiger 2: Electric Boogaloo
30:00 that's not something you see in GuP =(
I know you're only reacting to tanks and probably spgs but you got to check out Hot mod crickets pilot. They have really good models for their cold war stuff
Amazing video big dawg❤❤❤
the legend has returned
Babe wake up, a new eta320 video dropped
COH2 MENTIONED WE'RE SO BACK
Tanker? I hardly know her!
I think you should do a video on steel titans like the one you did on cruise tank simulator
10 views per minute seems like a good ratio
Any shot you could check out easy red 2 small game but has a ton of tanks
283 views in 28 minutes?
Eta does NOT fall off
Can't wait for part 2
Please do a video on Britain's cruiser tanks, especially the Cromwell
Lets goooo new eta vid
This game is peak!
Big metal box is good
Another way to differentiate the Tiger II by turret is to call them what the Germans called them at the time (or call them that but in English of course) which would be Vorserien-Turm (Preseries Turret) and Serien-Turm (Series Turret).
Finally, Peak has posted
Hey Eta you should do the MACE mod. They add more tanks and other stuff.
looking forward to that coh2 review
Great video mate, but the Union Flag on the butt of your rifle behind you is upside down
do a slighthy confusing guide to T tanks, like T34, T44, etc.
somebody should make eta play MTC4
wonder where i have seen this one before hehe
Ramble on!
P.S. I can teach you Polish
you should play steel fury with the sta mod
