This is episode 2 of what will be a 3 part series of using Chat GPT to give me specifications for building a semi-historical tank in the game Sprocket.

You should make an evolution tank based off of American tanks, going through all the missions and when you fail at a current one, you upgrade the tank to its needs. Also, use the appropriate American thinking of making tanks for the period, (like, in interwar and early war they had a lot of MGs on their tank.)

As you asked, does answer regeneration lead to different results - usually no, not really. There are some slight differences, mostly is generally text scheme. But in rare cases it can lead to completely different results, usually when its comes to a difficult non standard choice with unknown consequences.
Fun fact, if you have few chats taliking about same thing, there is possibility of AI remembering general info. I guess example will explain much better:
I had 4 chats where chatgpt acted as Ministers of imaginary country and that country had military operation against insurgents in the Middle East (i talked A LOT ABOUT IT inside the chats).
Then i got kinda bored and created 5th chat and said that it is gonna be a leader of middle eastern country. And it wrote great bla-bla sh2t, political unrest in last years and international help for them- WAIT, it was literally saying about what it didn't know in this chat + pretty precisely (but generalized) said about what happened to country using info from previous chats, so it can kind of learn new info using chats so be careful fellas.
P.s. I wrote this [BIG SHOT] at 0:33 am so im somewhat equal to an extremely drunk person.

Gave it a go didn't tell it I was gonna make it in Sprocket just asked it to make a interwar tank that could be air lifted into combat, it should be able to take on light AT roles and anti inf roles and it'd come from Eastern Europe.
I love the size it gave seems kind of big for a air lifted interwar tank but I want with it.
      Length: Approximately 5.5 meters
      Width: Approximately 2.5 meters
      Height: Approximately 2.3 meters
The Weight could be up to 10 tons and I ended up on 10.1 tons.
      Armor:
Frontal armor: 20-30mm of rolled steel plates (to provide protection against light anti-tank weapons)
Side armor: 15-20mm of rolled steel plates
Rear armor: 10-15mm of rolled steel plates
Top armor: 8-10mm of rolled steel plates (to protect against small arms fire and grenade fragments)
I put a 50mm gun on it since that's what it said would be best for light AT and anti inf.
for power it wanted 150-200 horsepower and for it to be able to get to 30-40km/h off road.
      crew was 3 to 4.
It asked for this that I liked "Possibly equipped with special brackets or attachments to secure it within the glider during transport"
In the end I ended up making something that looked a lot like a T-60.

a nickname for the one with added on armor would be "Réservoir d'oignon" which quite literally means "Onion Tank" in french due to its "layers" of armor (the factory armor and the added on armor from the crew). its also totally not a reference to "song of the onion" a french marching song from the 1800s
edit: Better name for the tank:"Char d' assault oignon", this is because Reservoir is used to store liquid, not an armored vehicle. But Char d' assault does mean tank.

You were quite right about how you made the smoke system. The engine smoke system injects fuel into the exhaust gasses causing smoke to form. It is most common on diesel powered tanks since gasoline does not form thick smoke. I think in the case of your design the system would close off the exhaust ports and then inject fuel mist into the pipes as the exhaust gas travelled through them.

You could also try giving ChatGPT resource limits, like there's a shortage of steel/iron for armor so it now gives a weight limit based of the amount of steel needed, and perhaps to also ask it to generate other armored vehicles, like tank destroyers.

  • @kim-9707
    @kim-9707 Год назад +3

Exhaust-based smoke screens are made through the injection of fuel (typically diesel) directly into the exhaust pipe to burn in and actually produce a thick smoke, you're designing smoke launchers which are used to allow a tank to retreat when it is coming under fire (they are typically on the turret facing forwards in a near 180 degree arc)

The outro is phenomenal ! For the name/nickname, I suggest : Albert Roche (french warhero), Le Sans Peur (i.e. Fearless, as it’s technically gone through all WW2 even if outdated), le cavalier (as medium tanks sort of fill the cavalry role) or Panhard EBA for engin blindé d’assaut (i.e. Assault armored vehicule), and Panhard is a tank manufacturer. You could could even designate it as the AMX-25, as it weights around 25 metric tons.

    1-Forteresse
    2-Écu
    3-Massif
    4-Invincible
    5-Bastion
    6-Chevalier
    7-Fidèle
    8-Vaillant
    9-Titan
    10-Vigilant
Out of these names, I think Chevalier is the best one, but what would be cool is to give a specified name for the unit, like you could actually see on french tanks, names of departments of france usualy, champagne, oise, ect. I think "Alsace" could go on the second version of the tank, it really works well.

I do appreciated it when creators really lean into the character and provided the entire storyline that goes along behind the scenes and explain every detail on why it was as it is. While it does give these builds more personality to go with, it is kinda easy to go overboard, especially with decorative parts. As crews only carry as the crews needed.
Otherwise, this has been really cool video series idea. Can't wait for what features a tank from Medditerannean region would have, bet that would have similar design philosophy as the japanese due to Island-hopping part of it

It would be interesting to see if it comes up with basically a casemate or assault gun or if it commits to the full turret.
Also in regards to your comment about whether or not the AI would generate new information every time with the same prompt, the answer is yes. It’s like asking the same question to a person every time, the general information is the same, but the specifics can vary heavily.

Thus making it a limited number of prototypes up to 22 (you'll see later what that specific number).
Usually tank models are based acronyms of years, purpose, or the factory. I propose then a totally imaginary factory named : ALMENO for "ALliance MEtallurgique de NOrmandie" (Normandy Metallurgical Alliance).
The layouts of the design are based on blueprints in the 1938. But since this design was more expensive and and needed more crew, the French Army wouldn't be interested that much to invest into it (money and WW1 general trauma). So the project of ALMENO was stopped.
Until the war broke out in 1939, some drawbacks of other operated tanks were noticed. And the need of a new tank was absolute, at that time Renault come up with the B1 while ALMENO bring back his project up to date with some improvements on the engine. Both designs needed to be tested in the fields to see which would be the most valuable.
ALMENO built up to 22 prototypes. As Renault brought the B1 bis in order to fix issues on the original design. Despite the efforts of ALMENO, the design was rejected in profit of the B1 bis of Renault.
The protos are stored but later in 1940, the germans gain terrain over France, and all equipment available were commissionned. So are the ALMENO Char Prototype 38 or ALMENO CP 38. Each of the 22 prototypes are nicknamed as the 22 regions of France (Bretagne, Normandie, Provence, etc).
Then the rest is up to your imagination ...

Idea for the name, R.38 based off of the Czechoslovakian LT vz 38 after a short collaboration between the two designers as they looks similar yet not the same. Story could go that after a fallout over armour and firepower the two went their separate ways, the Czechs going on to make the 38 and the French wanting a more multi purpose vehicle for both anti infantry, anti tank and anti emplacement, settled with the 75mm and armour similar to the B1 and C2.
For the later war variant created, after the defeat of France, the remaining R.38s not captured or destroyed were sent to Britain where crews there knicknamed them the Jack and Valent, Jack because of its all rounder capabilities yet being a master in none, Valent being derived from the French word Polyvalent meaning multi purpose.

Maximum speed makes sense when you consider the tanks roles.
saying 'we only want this to hit 30kph' means you can tune it more towards armor, gun, etc. if they said 'I want maximum or 60' random numbers, you'd be making a scout tank or a cruiser.
if you can specify the max speed you want, you can make the tank change role more often then you think. if a Churchill could go 60kph, do you think it'd have as good armor as it's known for?

i think an interesting idea that would be circumvent the sort of jankiness of the a.i would be too find existing tank programs, past or present, and try to make a tank that conforms to those requirements (without outright copying the tank that ended up actually being produced if the program was successful)

I have a name suggestion, and let me explain it first.
Like you said, the tank is based off of British/French designs like the Renault FT and the Churchill. Well, what if this was sort of the French version of what the Churchill was? And with the Churchill being named the way it was (not necessarily after Winston Churchill but still had the same name) maybe the tank could be called "De Gaulle" after the Free French Forces leader Charles De Gaulle? It's honestly up to you, but I'd think that would be a badass name

leaf spring suspension will be such a great addition, will make my hungarian Turán tanks more accurate, currently i have to use fenders and storage boxes to resemble the suspension
recently i had a series of vehicles i wanted to make in sprocket, hungarian tanks (as a hungarian i had to make them and since they are not well known it was a challenge), i made most of the medium, heavy and tank destroyers (i made 41M Turán I, 42M Turán II, 44M Zrínyi I, 43M Zrínyi II and 44M Tas), still need to make light tanks and heavy tank destroyer
and i have a "challenge" for you, make these not well known tanks and make them as accurate as you can

I feel like to make this tank somewhat more historical in the whole decals from both French and British vehicles is that this was a free French tank that joined a British unit but kept the French decals to differentiate it from the other British tanks.

I would be interested to see what the ai would say about tanks of more specific roles like a light tank or a infantry support tank or even a self propelled artillery. Be interesting to see that imo. Tbh this is just asking for a generic ‘make a medium tank the best you can’ not really out of the box requirements. The only ones I see here are the low center of gravity part

For the modified tank his name could be the Harnois wich give him some tieds with the crusader tank. His official name could Simply be the french traductions : Panthère. But it seem to be more a bull than a panthera so it could be called : Buòu ( it's the occitan word for bull because he was designed in Toulouse ) you could also use the french slang derived from it : Biou, it sound much better
