Dan...In your 6b zone, would it survive your winter if it were planted in the ground and protected with burlap?

It may. I can’t be sure though. In my mind, most figs have similar hardiness. What sets them apart is their ability to fruit after dying back. With this variety I would have one in a pot and one in ground to make sure I didn’t chance it.
