He's in my top 5 all time. I know some of you younger cats are turning your nose up at that, but if you were listening to N.W.A., Eazy E, or a Dr. Dre album and nodding your head, you were usually listening to a verse or song written by the D.O.C. Plus, back in the late 80's, dude dropped arguably the greatest debut album of all time and MAYBE cussed 5 times on the whole thing during an era where profanity in music was going strong.
His contributions to hip hop can't be measured by his lack of fame. Dude is responsible for some of the west coats giants' biggest hits.
Had he not lost his voice in that accident, he definitely would have ran hip hop for a while. NOBODY was spitting it that lyrical from the west coast back then. And he wasn't even from there.
You GOTTA give it up to the D.O.C.

The D.O.C. was ahead of his time. It is & was devastating what happened to him. His "No One Can Do It Better" CD is a hip hop classic. I was twelve years old when that CD came out. I still listen to that CD to this day. My favorite songs are "Whirlwind Pyramid" , "It's Getting Funky" and "The Formula". He is in my favorite five ever hands down. You can listen to that CD from beginning to end without skipping a single song. Like Jadakiss said "Top Five Dead or Alive". Lateef from the DYT. Dayton, Ohio.

if the Doc never lost his voice he would be just as big as Cube Easy and Dre lyrically he was a beast maybe the best out of Nwa glad he still was a good producer for his lively hood because the record business can be Ruthless journey no pun intended the Doc is a fighter and survivor

He's a Legend period! One album under his belt but it's a classic plus he wrote for Eazy and Dre. Glad to see he's still well. We always wait til' our legends pass to embrace their greatness but fuck that! Appreciate them while their here!

Met DOC at a house party in L.A near where he had his accident in the early 2000's and couldn't believe how down to Earth he was. I even called some friends on the phone that were fans of his and he talked to them!

God damn how insane that right after his first album he would get in a wreck that literally did the most damage directly to his voice box.

True school in the building. I'm 36 and I remember I used to get mega props for knowing the entire "It's Funky Enough" song. Older kids used to ask me to spit the song and they'd go crazy. Were it not for the accident the D.O.C was headed towards top 5 DOA status. He was THAT good.

D.O.C. being a ghostwriter elevates many other artists. You should understand this guy crushed his larynx and wrote hits. His return as the hook for "Gospel" with Dre & Eminem is a triumph for Hip Hop.

I think "funky enough" is one of thee DOPEST beats ever done. He would have had a spectacular career if he wouldn't have lost his voice. God i wish he would get his voice back. I bet deep down its torture 4 DOC. Knowing he was once the dopest rappers but hes missing the key ingredient for a huge career. His smooth velvet voice😢😢 to me...the DOC losing his voice is as tragic as Nate Dog and Easy passing away.
