The D.O.C. Reveals: I've Lived With Dr. Dre for Most of My Life

- The D.O.C. has worked closely with Dr. Dre over the years, and the Texas-born rapper and writer opened up to us about their long-standing friendship, revealing that they have gotten into some "monumental" fall outs. However, they've always managed to come together for all of Dre's projects, including Detox, which The D.O.C. said he was working on since 2005. "The Formula" rapper explained that Dre initially "wasn't ready" to work on the project, and after the tracks started leaking online a few years back, Dre "went back underground."
During the conversation The D.O.C. spoke to us about one of the blowouts he had with Dr. Dre that centered around him not having his own money and essentially living off of Dre's dime. Afterward, The D.O.C. revealed that "I've lived with Dre most of my life," aside from a time when he lived with Snoop Dogg when they had a falling out, which you can hear more about in the above clip.
You people are straight up assholes for making fun of this man..he was in a horrible car accident that caused damage to his vocal cords. This man is one of the legends of the industry.
Carlitos Brigante lol ha ha it just made me a little upset that people went in on him for something he can't control.
Shoshanna Horowitz Damn baby you are fine! Yummy.

Shoshanna Horowitz it's a joke ma no need to take it this hard.
Jay-Z said “as long as I’m alive Bleeks a millionaire “. Absolutely NO reason Dre shouldn’t do the same for the DOC.
i think dre allways paid this man , no doubt
And Bleek said, jay don't give you money. He gives you opportunities. It's up to you to take advantage of them or not. It's your business to take care of. Jay just gets your foot in the door. People misunderstood what jay was saying.

Exactly. D.O.C was nice as fuck . I was 11 years old listening to his music.
@EL.MAS.BUSCADO he did therapy. He shit is was just too damaged
I've been telling people for years. D.O.C deserves a whole lot more credit. First of all he was an impeccable rapper. Constantly ghost writing for people. Giving Dre all of his genius.
Just like Dj Quik never gets the credit he absolutely deserves.
Dead right about DJ Quik and DAZ too

@Jay Bee You should have more likes than this.
Real friends argue and they have fall outs but when one calls then a real friend answers. Real friends also show the way and "help". D.O.C. admitted to all that and understood. He's not bitter at all. Now that's a real friend. D.O.C is a real dude. RESPECT.
"It was because everybody had money, cars, clothes... and I didn't." That was a man talking right there. I already like this guy.
You know, watching these interviews with the D.O.C., I have really gained a lot of respect for the guy. He comes off as mature, respectful, and humble. These are all things that I admire in a person. Of course it is hard to not have your mind go to "well where would he have been had he not gotten into that car accident" but given the circumstances handed to him, he has really turned out to be decent human being. Much love to one of the greatest writers of all time.

I swear to the realist and people who know about this music era The D.O.C is a legend he is so underrated. If it wasn't for the accident he would have put out so many great music. Probably some of the music that was rapped from other people he probably had some written down for himself. I bet the first songs that were given to others he probably already had it visioned for himself. It was the accident that kept him back for awhile. He probably just found someone of his style to rap for it. D.O.C is the shit he is the reason why so many songs were put out. Even till this day he is the one of the only that is great but not given the credit he deserves. Only people that know him personally and that are real close to him give him credit for being up there with them. The rest don't even mention him the way they should only the ones that were given the honor to share the studio with him know the real D.O.C. im not saying he fell off and wasn't as good nomore but the only thing was that he had to stay off from rapping for a long time if he would've gone back to rap. Even after he had rest he still didn't have the same vocals he did before the accident. Which in my opinion he should've done one last album before completely leaving his rap career. He didn't have to rush it or make it in a certain time he could've taken his time because at the end we all know what he went through. So if he would've made one last album or ah couple of last songs everyone would've been right there with him supporting him. From the rappers if he would've had them on some tracks to the fans being there for him with all the love and respect shown to him. We all would have loved to see him one last time on some tracks before he retired.

I think a question people should ask themselves is what if... If this man had not destroyed his vocal chords in that accident, what do you think the hip hop landscape would look like. He still made a major contribution, but this dude was basically a living legend before the accident. He would have gone on to make an immeasurable impact/contribution to the music.
For my money, I honestly think we could have been having different conversations regarding the music today if he'd put his voice to records throughout the 90's and into the 2000's.

Wow. Dr. Dre's daughter lives in her car, while Dre's homie has been living in Dre's house for most of his LIFE. Interestingly, Dre's oldest son has never had Dre's support in childhood or adulthood. And we already know Dre's history of brutalizing women... from Dee Barnes to Miche'le. A lot of these rappers are physically heterosexual (at least to the outside world), but socially and emotionally "gay." What I mean is that even though they may not have sexual or romantic feelings for men, they show more affections and loyalty to their male homies than they show to the women they choose and the children they create. They voluntarily nurture bonds with other men that they don't nurture with their own seeds. I'm all for Black men uplifting and supporting one another, but in SOME scenarios, there is a glaring contrast between the affection and love they show to homies and the love they show to the people who are SUPPOSED to be their top priorities. The homoeroticism is even present in the lyrics they rap. For instance: "Imma ride for my mf'n ninja. Imma die for my mf'n ninja...but we don't luhh dem h**s...and f**k supporting them kids after they turn 18." Something is a** backwards about that type of thinking.
this is a good dude here
