- Here are three licks and concepts to help you create Jazz Vocabulary on a tonic minor chord. for Jazz Guitar. The sounds created are different than Dorian minor sounds and use different scales - namely Harmonic Minor and Melodic Minor. These licks work great for playing on minor key jazz standards.

I hope that True Fire invites you to create a lesson for us!!!!!
Hit the like before pressing play...man you got some LINES sir. Thank you
Fantastic lines , It immediately opened a million doors on minor blues super tasteful stuff. thanks for this !!!
Great instruction. So many guys rush thru this trying to show off. Nice lines!
This guy is a badass. I don’t subscribe to a whole lot of channels, but dayum. This guy has paid his frickin dues.
Truefire is a great site but your site offers clear easy to follow and great sounding lines, common songs tastefully reworked, thx from all of us Dacoulis fans
Great work as always. Direct, inspiring, musical. Many thanks for creating and sharing.
Brilliant!
Thank you so much.
bellissima lezione
Thanks
Your videos are very well done and thought out.
Thank you - I am happy that you enjoy them. I appreciate the kind comment.
Great brother i like your video & your backing track too! Keep going bro, I'm bit of confused in riff , how to count riff like for instance any four chords then we repeat again so we should count 2 bars ????? Kindly help out bro
This stuff is really great. (subscribed) I think a good series idea and lesson pack to consider making would be taking minor blues progressions e.g. The Thrill is Gone, and that kind of typical thing that all of us minor pentatonic players are doing and stuck on, but getting bored with. I know I'd like to jazz up my minor blues playing. And from this video I'm going to get to work on the Harmonic Minor scale and see what I can do with it over a minor blues. Maybe it's a disaster lol, but as long as I resolve... a disaster ends up being jazz... Anyway, again. Great lessons.
Hi Vonessa - thanks for your comment. It's funny that you should mention The Thrill is Gone because that was the first song in which I started applying jazz theory to when I was playing it on gigs. The G7 - F#7 was an opportunity to play some interesting stuff. Good idea!
I thought you had solved my dilemma of knowing the harmonic minor from melodic minor. You said earlier, the harmonic, minor addresses, the harmony with the natural seven being the third of 5 chord.
Yes - this is the way that I see it. Harmonic Minor addresses the Harmony, and Melodic Minor is perfect for creating Melodies. Both conveniently contain the natural 7 to address the 3rd of the Dominant chord.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us!! I really appreciate how concise you keep your videos and the frame of reference.
Hi Andy, you are a very good player and a very good teacher! But, since you mention TrueFire at the beginning of each your video, I have to ask you: why don't you figure among the TrueFire teachers? Am I doing anything wrong? Thanks in advance
Hi Roberto - that's very kind of you to say. Who knows - maybe one day!
How do you get that warm fat tone in the middle position?
On this guitar, the toggle switch doesn't really point that high when using the neck pickup. I use the neck pickup for this.
@@AndyDacoulis thanks. Just bought one of these Excel SS. Looking forward to it.
That of course is an A Augmented Triad 😅 dude there’s no “of Course” some of us mortals can’t easily identify augmented triads but I’m on my way 😂
Haha - sorry about that. Keep at it! Good luck
