Thank you Connie for the 10 helpful hacks with tips and tricks for Dry Embossing using different folders including ink and water brush are definitely useful.👍🏼
I don't think I have ever seen anyone emboss ribbon before! If I did I sure needed the reminder, thanks. I needed the reminder for sure on the leaving part of the card stock un-embossed. I love embossing folders and I think I will use some dies to make my own like you did with the circles. What fun we can have for hours on end!!! Thanks so much.
I love that you made your our embossing folder back in the day when I think only the cuttlebug was available, I made my own folders out of the original Netflix DVD sleeves (when it was a mail in service).
Great ideas! I knew a few tips but now have learned many more. Double embossing is a super neat idea. You constantly amaze me! Your your energy is never ending. God bless and keep you strong.
Connie- Your tips & tricks on this dry embossing in this video a very useful to any paper crafter that especially card makers. I appreciate getting your pdf’s as well. That way we have a reference to refer to when we going to make cards & send out. Thank you for sharing this video with us. 👏👏👏💞💐🌻
Love these ideas, Connie! Two other ideas: If you find your paper tears or splits when you run it through, lightly...LIGHTLY...mist it with water before running it through the machine. It loosens up the paper fibers a bit (or some such thing😊). Also, there are some stunning metallic waxes on the market that would look amazing rubbed on top of the embossed image, too! Thanks, Connie!
Hi Connie, Thank you for all your tips and tricks. For hack 10 I had bought some forms to do the selective embossing several years ago and it never worked for me. I always put them in the EF. It's nice to know it goes on the outside under the EF. I loved all of your great ideas. Thank you for sharing to make our card making better. I use a lot of you ideas in my card making classes. The ladies think I'm really creative. I do give you credit. I take your ideas and add some of my own so it's not an exact replica. Have a great week. I'm looking forward to your live video on Thursday.
Thanks Connie. These hacks are great, I would never have thought of those!!!! You are always thinking of helpful ways to do making cards better..... I have learned so much from watching you!
Wow Connie, this is a good tutorial. So informative. Happy there is a pdf for reference. There are many ways to make ur card 🔥& I like it. The double embossing take ur card to another level. Great tips, some I have not even considered before, but will now try!!!! I will be sharing your video!!!! Thanks so much, Connie, and have a blessed day!!!!!
Thank you, Connie. I had never thought of a double embossing. Your technique of adding the ink with the water brushes is a great finish. Have a wonderful week! 🌸
Awesome tips, Connie! Thanks for the download. Embossing the ribbon really did blow my mind, and I want to try selective embossing, too. Oh, and making my own embossing folder. So many new things to try!
Hi Connie, I have been enjoying the Craft Hacks, thank you for creating them. This may be a daft question, & I'm sorry if it has already been answered, but if this is called 'Dry Embossing' does this mean there is a wet embossing technique or what? x
Thanks. Loved them all. Just a ? about number 10. How would I do an unembossed area which is to fit a sentiment. Also can the hole be on the edge of the card stock? Xx
Yes, you can make the unembossed area anything you want and place it anywhere on your cardstock. It doesn't have to be a circle, it can be a smaller shape, whatever you want it to be.
Connie, could you, maybe, put a piece of black card stock on your desk when showing us your embossing folders? (If I fall in love with one I see you work with … just saying, it could be a selling tactic.)
Love all the ideas you have shared with us. Have learned so many new things today! Thank you for all these great tips! When you used the water brushes to add a little color, did you use the thick white cardstock? Thank you for a great video (as always)!
I actually used Basic White but the key is to use as little water as possible. In fact, I don't use water at all, I use rubbing alcohol. It dries faster so it doesn't buckle the paper much.
I would add that if you have a brayer handy, that is great for adding ink to your EF and well as your already embossed image. I've found that it keeps the ink on top only and perhaps a bit neater than finger daubers. *I should say it's a bit neater than how "I" apply ink! ha ha 😂
Jane…I believe you can put the ink on either side. In the video, I was looking to see which side of folder she used - and it was the back side so that is why the fern images looked so amazing. It would have been different if she did the top side (where the SU logo is) because it would be the opposite look. So in the video, she put the ink on the back of EF so it was the debossed side. Hope that helps. (Connie, correct me if Im wrong.)
Try inking a small part of both sides of the folder and run through a small paper to test it -- gives quite a different look to both sides of the paper, as it will be "opposite" parts getting the ink. Kind of depends on the look you may want for a specific project. It's only paper and a small test size can help you decide what's best to use. Even try two different colors/combination of colors for an all-over two or three-toned cardstock. It's fun to experiment and play.
You can always LIGHTLY mist your cardstock before you run it through your machine. I use that when I use 3 D embossing folders. Do not saturate, just lightly mist.
Oh Connie, you give us so many tips and ideas. I wish I could remember who taught me the mist tip. SU has a mister that actually is a mister, not a splotch sender. Yay for SU again!!! AND thank you again for all you do for us!
I didn’t know where you were going with the last tip, but I’m glad I hung on to watch until the end! Great tips!

Nona, yes there is. Here is a link for you to watch ruclips.net/video/5N4LaIXxX9Q/видео.html
great tips, question, what was the ink yo used that was white to emboss?
Gunthter, it is White Craft Ink.
Thanks. Loved them all. Just a ? about number 10. How would I do an unembossed area which is to fit a sentiment. Also can the hole be on the edge of the card stock? Xx

January 1, 2024 - I found my new favorite RUclipsr! Thank you for your content!
Wow, thanks!
Love all the ideas you have shared with us. Have learned so many new things today! Thank you for all these great tips! When you used the water brushes to add a little color, did you use the thick white cardstock? Thank you for a great video (as always)!

Amy, thanks so much!
For hack #2, does it matter which side of the 3D folder you ink? Did I have a sr moment & muss something?🙄
Jane, I ink the side that has the raised image so that I can try to keep the ink from getting below the raised part. I hope that makes sense.
I like the way you think Mary! I test just about everything on copy paper before I jump in with cardstock.
You are correct, either side but you will get a different effect depending on what side you use.
You can always LIGHTLY mist your cardstock before you run it through your machine. I use that when I use 3 D embossing folders. Do not saturate, just lightly mist.
Gail, thank you for the tip.

Hello from Idaho good morning
Hello Linda.
Rubbing alcohol 91%. ? Love video Connie
Thanks so much for watching.
Good tips but I couldn't see the embossing on most of your finished samples. They needed to be held up much closer to the camera.
Sorry about that.
I was wondering what percentage of alcohol you use?
Either will work. I think mine is 91% (it's just what I happen to have in the house)
Too much finger pointing and hand movements.
I am so sorry you didn't find this helpful. I really do my best to offer all kinds of ideas.
Great tips! Thank you, Connie!
Gail, You are so welcome!
