  • I made a J-Plug lure a while back and promised to get some footage of testing it when I could. Well this is the time....

I’m with you with the life being complicated. Seems the older we get the more complicated it becomes. I have amassed an inventory of lure blanks totaling 13,000+. The clay, the resins and all the materials to make my own designed lures. (I have a bunch of ideas) I also have more then 100 molds for pouring lead and soft plastics. Add to that a couple grand in fly tying materials and jig skirts. Yet here I am. Haven’t made or painted a single bait in over two months. Why, life gets complicated.

I'm definitely in line for the Master Class on Weight & Balance! I just worked up a spreadsheet to help me calculate density & ballast in order to help me determine how much lead is needed. I can send it to you if you like, but I'm not a master yet! LOL

    Great as always Franco!
Master class weight and balance, years ago you did already one, a kind of, that I watched several times, it was, it still is "money on the bank"! I learned a lot indeed, a new master class about the same subject will be super interesting!!!!!
    Thanks 😊 so much!

Very nice, I really like J-Plug type lures for trolling, simple, no cheap plastic lip to break (Berkley) or come unglued (Rapala) and one good sized treble mid body (I hate lures with multiple small hooks!) And, when set up with a slide through bead chain or wire, the hook can get away from the body just enough for a more secure hookup. My only issue is they are generally designed to work better at higher, salmon type speeds, which is fine, but I want one that works at slower speeds, say under 2mph.

weight and balance would be my vote. I tried to build a metal lip the other day and did not take the weight of the lip in to account and it barely floats tail up. It still seems to work, now i just need to find a fish

    Question:
In your swimbait masterclass you mention for an aggressive swim pattern you want the wide point to be at the 25% mark.
What if you made a 3 piece swim bait, but each section had the wide point at 25% of each individual piece?
Sure the lure may look a little funny, but wonder what the action would be? Being as each section (in theory) would create its own turbulence.
