About this channel: We are the Smith's. A Christian family of 6, living in the country just outside of Georgetown, Texas. Granger, an author and former country music singer, Amber, an actor and stay at home mom, and their children: London, Lincoln, River (who we lost when he was 3yrs old) and Maverick.
For some reason God was protecting you and didn’t want you to go. I strongly believe that God does this sometimes.

Good story there, London and Granger! It's always good to be prepared to go, but when God closes all the doors not to go, than it's His will for you not to go! I like how Granger said, When you think it's all about you going, God will shut it down just to remind you that it's all about Him and not you! 🥰💖 A very good lesson to be learned for sure! 🙂
It's brings me back to something I learned from you awhile back...
When I stopped asking "why me" and started asking "what are you trying to show me"... everything happens for a reason and on his time. I believe it could simply be his protection for you guys, that's why all doors closed.

Good to expose our children to difficult things and sacrifice. But yes this is too dangerous for children. She should be allowed to choose to go as an informed adult, not a 12 yr old (and younger, she's been before.)
London’s sweet ❤️. My nieces went with their parents to a foreign country and deep into the villages where they haven’t seen light colored people and were scared of them. :( They also have never seen themselves. The second trip they took mirrors for them to see. They were singing songs and playing together by the end of the week, so beautiful. They of course knew nothing about God until this. They dug jiggers out of their feet and the sweet people were so grateful.
What happened is a GOD thing it was meant to be! We don’t know why it happened but it’s a GOD thing!
London is such a beautiful girl, inside and out. You must be so proud of her, not many girls, her age, would venture into a place with no iphone. My granddaughter won't even venture into the bathroom without hers lol

Yes, there are hard things in life. I’m 68 years old and have been through many hard and difficult things. Londan, will learn how to press on when she faces her own difficulties in life. Those will be her experiences to face. Why bring such hardships to her? Let her do the missionary work she chooses to do, if that’s the direction she wants to go. She’s an amazing kid. Don’t put her in dangerous situations.
I’m sorry you guys weren’t able to make it on your mission trip but I know God has bigger plans and knows exactly how it will work out. Maybe next time London, I totally understand your hesitation though.

I was excited for yall to go but, had a weird feeling that things would not be good. God was definitely in control. I'm happy things worked out the way it was supposed to. Prayers of thanks God intervened. There will be another chance to go help i am sure.❤

Your family is amazing! London, God bless you! I am amazed at your willing heart, at your age to be willing go out of your comfort zone to a place where people need to hear of God’s love. So glad your family encourages this. Mission trips touch others, but they also leave lasting memories on your heart. Continue to let God lead you and let Him write your story!

Lessons that need to be heeded... and I'm not being rude by saying this at all! Sometimes I do feel the sense of what you're saying coming across and realizing it is the first sign of being able to change it. Another aspect might be that it's not where London needed to go at this time of her life. She's a beautiful young woman now, not a little girl, (but still a little girl who could be taken advantage of more easily to outsiders anyway) and the danger could've been too great. Yet again, this could go back to your realization maybe... by thinking you know best and putting her in a dangerous situation without truly respecting that danger. Yes, God will protect and He did just that! Many lessons to learn possibly.
We all fall short and have so many lessons to learn and you being willing to share something that you're learning from helps us all realize our own lessons in a way. I love missions and support them fully, however there are missions that can and need to be happening right here too! The romantization of a mission and expressions of the crudeness of the people when going abroad can become a highlight reel for people to gloat on too. The glory is not ours to boast or even share about sometimes!
Lessons are hard sometimes and we've all got them to learn from, hopefully anyway! They're different for everyone in different stages of life. Life is full of them! Thanks for sharing!
I know god has spared me more than once in my life. I believe he did the same to you and London. We all wish we knew Gods plan for our lives. But at the same time, if we knew what it was, would we have as much fun living it as we are these days?
All I can say is Praise God.. Your right Granger there was a reason either he wanted you to understand that he was in control not you or he was protecting you and your daughter from something.. Yes it's disappointing but should be Thanking God at the same time.. This wasn't your time to go for whatever Reason he had.. Just thankful you obey him❤

Like you said God is sovereign.... we don't always understand why and maybe there were good lessons to be learned that were not always in control that our arrogance needs to be checked but also he protects his children and maybe there was something that the father knew of a hidden danger something outside his will that could of been layed like a trap by the enemy that he was protecting yall from ✌️🙏🔥💪

Agreed. It's beneficial to introduce our kids to difficulty and sacrifice, but within relative safety. A 12 yr old cannot consent to this, she isn't an informed adult.
Sooo grateful I did not have Bible banging parents like this when I was 12 🤦🏻♂️ I will always cherish my Summers swimming in the lake with my friends and playing Kick the Can in the evenings..... Baseball and football practice ( 2 A Days in that summer heat ) so blessed turn on be forced into introversion !!!

Granger, this is the first time I disagree somewhat with you...I do agree that you shouldn't bow out of things out of fear BUT I disagree with your subtle pushing London to go to dangerous places when its obvious that her fear is very prevalent, you can see it in her eyes and the eyes are the windows to the soul. I believe that this was Devine intervention as He knew that it wasn't safe for London and you to make that trip. I know you'd lay down your life to save her but imagine what it would do to her forever if she had to witness the loss of her Daddy. God knew that y'all needed to be home and spreading His word here. He will safely allow you other mission trips. You and Amber are AMAZING parents, just remember to not only hear the kids fears but look closely into their eyes. Bring lemon oil mixed with water in small sprayer. Worked great for me in remote South Africa from mosquitoes!And! You overpacked! Need soccer balls for the kids! Weenies!

It’s something I’ll always keep in memory that God is in charge! God is our leader, our guide, protector, etc… and I’m sorry but I’ve always noticed that pastors or leaders of Christ begin to believe they’re a big deal and that we all need to listen to what they have to say when it reminds us in the Bible, we can’t trust anyone on earth especially those who claim to know Jesus from inside out. I haven’t read the entire Bible yet but they’re are pieces of verses that just stick like glue and I’m glad they do. I love you guys so much but I had to stop watching you guys for awhile because I began to get that feeling from you Granger, that you began walking like you HAD to make a difference because everyone looks up to you when really you’re supposed to encourage people to look up to God and give all the glory to God… no matter being a pastor, etc… you gotta remind people in Church, God is our leader, you’re just the messenger and that’s how I look at it… I’m glad you did begin to notice. Because I was worried you were becoming another pastor or someone in church with a high authority personality and that would have devastated me. I admire your faith so much. Oh sweet girl. I was you! My mom brought me on EVERY south American / European mission trip for several years. It was very scary as a young girl and tested my limits. One year on our way to Honduras I lost my passport in the Houston airport. Had we been anywhere else mom and I would have both had to miss the trip. My brother was living in Houston at the time and was able to come get me so my mom could continue on the trip. When I got to my brother’s apartment I got very sick we found out God spared me from getting that sick in a third world situation. I gave up after that and never went again. Please don’t let this event scare you and just keep going. There are blessings waiting for you beyond your wildest dreams!
