Truly fascinating that when the greats of Serena, vika and Maria were at their peak, the prospect defending a championship was very achievable. Nowadays, it’s a miracle if the defending champion even makes it past the second round.
✨magic✨
Lol the current state of wta
Yes and notice how mostly they were only there to stop each other. That's something WTA is missing now as well, top players who separate and distinguish themselves from the rest of the tour...
@@user-gu1un7pb7k no group of top players anymore.
@@ayoayo7730 I know right,? Its very hard to label some people on WTA as top players, coz the disappointment is big.
11:51 is where the mess started, nobody defended a GS since then. Y’all might hate Serena but you can’t deny how good she is
I think Barty would’ve been the only one who could’ve done it or maybe just maybe Halep at last years Wimbledon where she didn’t play because of her injury. She seemed to be on a roll until the injury came
The ostapenko round 1 is funny to me 🤣
Serena and Maria are the only players who have shown some consistency in the Grand Slam over the past 10 years.
True and it´s weird how players like Justine, Clijsters, Sharapova, Kuznetsova, Wozniacki, Azarenka and others from that era that are younger than Serena couldn´t take advantage of her pregnancy to win some Slams, half of them retired even before that and the others just couldn´t win anymore for some reason despite being still young
@@user-el3gn5yl2w clijsters and justine were retired. and kuznetsova really didn’t make many strides after around the 2010 seasons
@@prakashp2450 Yes that’s what I mean, Clijsters and Justine retired young and the others, even people like Wozniacki, Sharapova, Ivanovic who ended up being a one hit wonder, none of them took advantage of Serena’s absence to become number 1 and win a few more slams
@@user-el3gn5yl2w ah gotcha, I’d say maria took the most advantage even with her one dimensional play, but I just don’t think the women and mentally tough, plus it doesn’t help that many women probably would’ve been able to make some strides if serena wasn’t around (thank god she was though)
@@prakashp2450 Maria cameback from the suspension right around the time that Serena left because of ehr pregnancy and Maria never won a Grand Slam again so I wouldn´t say she took advantage of Serena´s absence
This is by far the best channel about tennis🤩
I totally agree with you😍
Agreed, its so full of shade, yet full of beauty. 💃
the mess begins at 11:51
Just as Serena leaves... it’s so sad she is the greatest I hope she can win a couple more as women’s tennis is in chaos
Whole lot of williams winning content in here. 💜
It's good to have videos like this for the younger generation, to remind them how much better Serena was than everyone else when she was at her peak.
The Ostapenko-Koslova handshake tho
Needed a reminder of why I hate Mladenovic
Arghhh I don't like the reaction of Coco Vandeweghe, that looked so arrogant. Great video!
Yeah, you're right, but in little doses that's funny, like Kyrgios. In little doses.
Ikr. Looks where she's now. Nowhere to be found!
@@alifsafarali2887 I literally forgot that she actually exists in tennis
I liked it. She doesn't give 2 sh*its and is irreverent. It wasn't that deep.
That USO 2015 still hurt 🥲
For ever
Really??? To me no, the one that hurts a lot is AO 2016, Serena was on another level that year, I love the hug at the end but I felt so bad that year, at least the 2015 SF exit Serena had nothing to prove there tbh, she defended the USO 3 years in a row man
@@ezrakiiza8024 yeah, sure, but the reason it especially hurt, was because, had she won the USO, she would’ve completed a year grand slam
@@sebastianjespersen8317 oh okay, yeah that reason is annoying to think about, but I will give it to Serena that year man, she was so tired that year, 2015 was not easy man, but the way she dominated hard court,Grass to Clay? Man, she is or must i say she was her own competitor, nowadays in WTA its sad to think about these players, though I have faith on Coco, Iga, Badosa and Saba. They just need to work on some small stuffs and we gon be good, well, I guess.
@@ezrakiiza8024 We all use to forget she defended USO title 3 times, all we all remember was the CYGS loss we fail to remember the great slam defense. . Typical human behavior lol
Maria sharapova🥰
Sabinelisickifansss serves us very GOOD tennis content, nothing but STAN for this channel💚
Agree
Has the best content!
It's funny how after Serena went on to have a baby, the whole wta collapsed .... literally anyone could win a Grand slam with the lack of a dominant force. No continuity...only Osaka might achieve that...
Serena 🐐
Any full matches of Marion Bartoli i would gladly buy!
13:43 Wozniacki walking terrified for a handshake after all the shit she barked at US Open 😂😂
@@novakgoat5335 at US open 2017 Wozniacki complained against Sharapova getting night matches not realizing that it is tournament director’s decision and not sharapova’s
Wozniacki said : Putting out a schedule where the No. 5 is playing on court five, fifth match on after 11 p.m., I think that's unacceptable,"And when you look on center court -- I understand completely the business side of things -- but someone who comes back from a drugs sentence, performance-enhancing drugs, and all of a sudden gets to play every single match on center court, I think that's a questionable thing to do”
Sharapova responded: I'm in the fourth round. I don't know where she is
This match was one year after this exchange in press conference and sharapova took out the defending AO champion Wozniacki in three sets.
@@JaffarBrar and sharapova lost in the next round and then never won a grand slam match after that and faded away 😂. Good riddance
Where’s the twitter, Miss Lisickifansss?🤨
help, i thought this was Riley, omg 😭
Good content
I feel that RG winners are very consistent like Barty,Swaiteik and Krejocova
Serena williams hands down.
I wanna see this same video but for the ATP
I didn't realize there were so many champions who chose to or could not play to defend the title.
It's either because of injuries or retirements.. Bartoli, li na, Flavia..
Will Simona defend her Wimbledon title or at least making it to the semifinals?
i think she doesn t care about wimby, she want to win in tokyo
@@maryamari6546 yes, she will probably try to peak in Tokio
@@GabrielHernandez-zp1ke she will have to face Osaka then, it's tough bcs it's hard court and Tokyo. Hopefully, both of them will be in the finals.
She can defend it, to be honest she is still probably disappointed about missing the French Open, but she probably targets the olympics more
@@maryamari6546 She has to care to some extent, because she's risking getting very close to be out of the top 10 if she'd to skip Wimbledon
i hope coco and naomi save wta and bring some consistency to it 😩
Wow looked she’ll shocked at 13:43 lmao
What about swiatek?
What title did she defend exactly? 😂
@@Rune8119 lol, he's asking why Iga's match isn't included here, she made a QF in her first GS title defence
@@madhedgehog5652 My bad. Iga was already crowned the new queen of tennis after her win at RG last year. People forgot that Jelena ostapenko ,Francesca schiavone and Anastasia myskina did that too.
@@Rune8119 Lol, I can see you are happy with Iga's loss then. Yeah, people will always be calling the youngsters that win slams the next big thing, and they always will be humbled. But Iga already showed she has the game as she won two more titles, made the top 10, and got to the second week of both slams this year. She will be winning many more and I feel sorry cause you will have problems with enduring that....
@@Rune8119 you must be really delusional if you still after this year compare Iga to ostapenko or you just dont watch her matches🤦♀️
Aga Australian Open 2014 win Azarenka ❤❤❤
2011 Serena AO debacle?
Where is Sharapova in 2004 , 2006,2008 ,2012,2014
Ostapenko lost to her twin lol
Ongelooflijk om te zien op Azarenka na (Serena niet meegeteld) geen een van ze succesvol een grandslam heeft verdedigt 🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️

Among the ten or so past Grand Slam tournament younger champions, three newer women stand out and appear to be near unstoppable: Iga Swiatek,Sofia Kenin and Naomi Osaka. Simone Halep may have won Grand Slams before, but with her irritably gentle style of play, these three powerful and accurate players will likely stop Simone in her tracks in an earlier round of Grand Slams... ** So ,in my opinion, the Big Three of tennis have burst into the limelight of Grand Slams. Within months and years of having a new boyfriend,a few women like Simone (or Naomi) end up having enlarged and heavy chests. This impedes her tennis playing abilities. Simone's 40 year old boyfriend should pay for her recent breast reduction surgery. Despite Simone's wins, her style of play is too gentle and too boring. She could be part of the BIG FOUR of Women's tennis, along with the three other women mentioned above.. Muguruza and Caroline Wozniaski and Victoria Azarenka or someone else could be part of the Fig Four , depending on which four women win more Grand Slams more often, and stand out as being near unstoppable in womens tennis tournaments. When ladies tennis players suffer in playing abilities because of chest enlargement, the boyfriend should be fined, such as 42 year old boyfriend of Halep, a much married man.
Kenin hahahah lol , you’re an idiot mate
first
Assuming everybody know who is the defending champion
The defending champion has a (d) next to her name
@@GabrielHernandez-zp1ke my bad…
