- Clinton Mulwa is a former Kenya Defense Forces soldier who served at the force for six years. After training and finishing his induction course, he was first posted to Gilgil (Kenya Rifles) then deployed to Wajir (Elwak) and due to the impressive work done there he was enlisted to join the AMISOM fleet deployed to Somalia. He reflects on a rather challenging experience in Somalia with close calls with IEDs, engaging Al-Shabaab combatants that would affect his quality of life later on. After one year in Somalia, he came back did a Military police course and is from there that things started going wrong. From a demotion, to battling depression, separation with his wife and losing his ability to walk due to Guillain Barre Syndrome, life was tough. This story captures his path to restoration and regaining his ability to walk again.

I joined the KDF 27th April 2009, I was sent to Somalia 2011 thereafter I was sent to Kismayu 2015, I was dismissed from the Military 2017 with a left lower back injury , , I am not financially okay but I am working myself up, but I must confess I am a more happy man

I woke up 1 day and left the military with nothing apart from my experience. I lost friends and so many people close to me saw me as a failure. I thank God i was never depressed (if so i dont know) though i struggled to resettle in the corporate world. By the grace of God all what i lost is being repaid in double. All the best Mulwa in your recovery journey and may God continue being there for you like He as been to me. Time is the best equalizer, give it time God is guiding your steps.🙏🙏🙏

My brother you are lucky you are walking and in good health. Am apolice officer and i can tell you that my colleagues who left the service irregardless of how they left are doing well and not regretting having left. God is the one who holds your destination and challenges are to strengthen you and guide your path. Soldier on god is faithful. Typing this sitting calmly on my wheelchair after suffering spinal injury due to heavy drinking. Addiction is i a disease

This was/ is a sad story, but we thank God that all these happened for His glory and to know Him better. Pick it up for the second phase of life. Thank God too that your friend stood by you and helped you to grow and grow in God's word. That guy is indeed a true friend who was/ is there for you in times of trouble. Its a new life anyone can find himself in it's very hard to believe if you will make it but with GOD you accepting the situation is very important for you to move on though it may take long whoever is struggling in anyway may GOD grant you by his desire, never allow depression or weakness win over you no matter what

I developed exactly the same problem like Clinton's on 6th June this year. Have even undergoing physiotherapy even today. It's very tough but God is faithful .unlike Clinton my wife has supported me greatly. God works in mysterious ways and Clinton's story has really touched me. May God bless you and open bigger opportunities for you.
Kenya government should have an early retirement plan for injured soldiers and police. Or a once off payment, there is money in kenya. Period

The problem is our millitary management
When you study the United States army, the millitary psychiatrist is among the top paid people because they monitor how the soldiers are fairing on
And they could detect any stress before it gets worse
Lies. They have a functioning VA, but they don't detect something before it happens 😂😂😂. PTSD is one of the biggest challenges in the US forces. There are a lot of homeless soldiers, and some are struggling with mental health issues.
@@jakadalla very true, VA is known to tell veterans that "their injuries aren't service related" also they have a lot of homeless veterans especially US marine corps has the worst record of homeless and depressed veterans.

Joining kdf is hard, but dismisal is very very easy, i hate to hear officers being dismissed after injuries.

The invicibles pain we suffer. The Ex-KDF suffered PTSD. I once go through depression in 2015 and it took me almost 8 Years to beat it.. Its hellish and you are like in a dark pit. Sad😢

You cannot pray and perish. Clinton put your trust in the Lord and he will never forsake you and remember Job what he went through and also the life of Joseph in the book of Genesis. He was sold as a slave in Egypt, he was falsely accussed by Potiphar's wife, jailed and later on became a great man in Egypt until his own borthers came to beg for food from him. The story of Joseph has always been the reason why I chose to give my life to Jesus Christ and especially after looking at my family background. Joseph had no mother to take care of him but his father Jacob loved him because he was obedient. He also had a young brother Benjamin. He grew up in a very hostile environment but God kept talking to him in dreams. Clinton you are on your way to great things if you continue trusting in the Lord. May God restore whatever the enemy took from you just as he did to Job.

The issue with this military work if you get injured or fractured and after they assess you and you cannot hold a firearm they dismiss you 😢😢😢😢
