    Felt for the 1st time that Deepak Chopra & Tom Campbell converge here. Reality is...virtual reality! I think Deepak makes a lot of sense, regardless of all his critics -- who I feel should be more open-minded.

    One of the most beautiful interviews of Dr Deepak Chopra.....most of what he speaks requires a certain level of understanding to appreciate. For example....if someone wants to study William Shakespeare....he requires certain level of English Language knowledge....God bless him....

    Great to hear Chopra in this interview. He's done so much to bring enlightenment to so many through his books, interviews, and lectures. It's hilarious so many cynics believing in scientific materialism make slanderous, baseless, ad hominem comments in any video with which Chopra involved. If you track the these bogus slanders back to their source, you find that they come from a community that feels very threatened by Chopra's direct challenge to their philosophical stance of their naive realism. Ten years of bogus attacks have had no effect on Chopra and his continuing challenge to the falsehood of scientific materialism, and he continues to sway opinion toward spirituality and away from the naive realism. Go Chopra!

    I love it how Deepak has moved to an "everything is qualia" viewpoint, and an embracing of virtual reality, which is another way of seeing it. If you like the virtual reality concept, there are a lot of great Tom Campbell videos on youtube. .

      Deepak was talking at a very abstract level and at times Rick archer provided better insights. For eg Deepak talked about the evolution from Hunters to agriculture to industrial to information age and moving forward to spiritual age. Rick talked about the Yugas mentioned in the Vedas and that highly enlightened beings were once wandering this earth. On which Deepak didn't say anything. Deepak should preach the notion of everything is a Qualia to the Poor in Africa Or the dying and suffering in the Middle east. It will be interesting to see their reaction. That would be the real test for Deepak. He may say testing is a Qualia.

    He's such a wonderful and beautiful man. I love all of his books. I think he's really gentle, and grandfatherly, and i would feel really safe with him, more than most other people. I agree with what he's saying also, the world is mad, like a mental asylum, and i sort of had a similar epiphany not that long ago, in that it doesn't feel quite like home to me anymore, in the same way that it did when i was a child - and i decided that in the end, it doesn't really matter, because if you are seeking Enlightenment, you eventually will reach a point beyond duality, so they say, beyond the madness: liberation, nirvana! And also with this, in the end is freedom from death, and reincarnation. So in some ways it feels like being in the last year of school, you love all the memories, and you want the place to remain beautiful for the following generations, but a large part of you feels that you may have out-grown this place by now, and are ready to leave :) Peace and namaste

    What a wonderful interview! Dr. Chopra is a great example himself of silence in motion. As with many spiritual people, he speaks from the highest level of consciousness, which risks being misunderstood by scientists or other educated people, who tend to value only the highest levels of intellect and relative knowledge, what can be called from a spiritual point of view the understanding of the waking "dream" state.
    Thus, he sometimes appears to deny the value of measurement, as when he states that the mathematics of electromagnetic waves has no real meaning or existence. Any ham radio operator (or physicist) knows that each of the various mathematical descriptions of radio waves can be used to discover exactly what is happening in an antenna, a receiver, or a transmitter, and thus can be used as a practical guide to construction or tuning of these real-world devices. Such mathematics therefore has specific practical value.
    This confuses the very different levels of language corresponding to the very different ways of viewing reality.
    One way of viewing reality is the practical knowledge of relative life. This is a vast field that allows us to invent new technological devices, new ways of voting fairly for candidates in elections, and an infinite number of other improvements to how we live our lives.
    At the same time, the very different absolute approach to knowledge (whether through technique, such as Transcendental Meditation, or whether through insight, such as Advaita teachings and satsangs) brings peace, joy, increased intelligence, increased creativity, the flowering of love, the elimination of obstacles, distractions, and annoyances, and much more of great practical value, without making any use at all of intellect or relative knowledge.
    This is because the relative is the science of the mind, while the absolute is the science of awareness.
    The interviews here on BatGap can therefore alienate spiritually-oriented people when they acknowledge the practical value of science, and can alienate scientifically-minded people when they acknowledge the primary status of spirit (meaning pure consciousness or awareness).
    It can be very helpful to recognize the level (absolute or relative) on which a teacher is speaking or writing. This recognition can eliminate the sprouting of our internal objections arising due to the confusion of levels as we listen to Rick's interviews.
    Dr. Chopra's talk is a great exercise in understanding this concept of levels of consciousness as applied to spoken or written knowledge.

      I can't agree with you more. I love the way he retaliates back to the smash-mouth negative talk by keeping true to to his much more higher convictions of human morality and dignity and being one with life.+.

    I deeply appreciate what Deepak says about simply "witnessing" the insanity of life and minimizing participation. Most people feel that they can not step back from life because "it is so serious" or "it will stop" If more people step back and witness the insanity, I suspect this simple act will yield great peace...
    "What would I (Deepak) look like to a bug with 100 eyes?" Great question!!!
    Gratitude Ad Infinitum!!!

      We can see an immediate real life scenario if USA stops participating in the conflicts of Israel Vs Palestine Or in Syria Govt Vs Rebels Or North Korea Vs South Korea Or China Vs Japan. World would be such a great place if USA stops meddling in other countries affairs Or if CNN stops covering such news and broadcasting them in living rooms around the world.

    Man, this guy has nothing to do with Vedic culture - perhaps why he is so popular. Some of my friends got him to come speak at their college for a short lecture in a prominent urban area, they got a stadium ready, printed out fliers,etc. then he sent the bill for an absolutely absurd amount of money (I won't even post the amount for those of you who have some faith in any of this) and obviously they couldn't pay it since they were a small student group who thought he was coming out of the goodness of his heart, but since they couldn't shil out the full amount - no Deepak. This guy has no realization, just listen to him. No real Ayurvedic credentials either folks. That's just the beginning....Why don't you spend some time to find real spiritual adepts and not a slew of schleps who have had a little experience here or there and all of sudden they or others think they are spiritual teachers?

    Chopra is awakened, but he is also just full of it. Maybeit is because he have become a "guru" and lots of gurus starts to take positions that they have answers to everything.
    Saying that self awareness is the highest enlightenment is just wrong to say. I feel the experience everyday aswell, but one cant claim it because of the experience, it could just be a mental experience that makes one feel that way.

    "Deep Pockets" Chopra represents the "7/11" of spirituality. Once he refrained from being the spiritual manque he is, he'll just move on to owning a chain of 7/11's. He'll have his friend Vijay managing one and his other friend Rajiv running another. And he'll even accept rupees as a valid "qualia" for payment.

    I wonder why people like Deepak Chopra talk so much about spirituality, while the majority of Indians are living in abject poverty and don't seem to find a way out of their misery in this life. Hinuism and its belief in a deserved re-incarnation, is simply cruel - there is no reason other than a cruel religion, which is keeping such a huge population as it is in India, in such a state of poverty and ignorance.

You, being I suppose an American or English, are completley ignorent about the 'TRUE' happynesse.You have no right to say that Hindu religion is cruel.Get some time off to read our vedas or Githa to understand really what our religion is!! You poor people suffering from your material acquisitions have no religious education.We hindus NEVER criticize any other religion and NEVER try to convert anyone in to hinduism.That's the greateness of our religion...

    As an M.D., of course, he's got the key to the Medicine Cabinet. One detects a 'whiff', perhaps, of good old 'Benzodiazepine'?
    That Shankara's got a lot to answer for, methinks. Not least the pseudo-Philosophical and - dare one say it (?) pseudo-Scientific posturing of one Deepak Chopra.
    "An object of perception out there is not fundamental reality". Oh, yes it is, Deepak Chopra. Don't know whether any 'system of thought' will help you to see that. But it certainly won't be Shankara's.
    Far as I'm concerned: anyone who says that the World is an illusion ought to be kicked in the Pants.

    • @tim13354
      @tim13354 9 лет назад

      ***** It's precisely because I DO understand the concept and do know that there is no such experience as that to which they are referring that I am able to comment.
      I also know that certain elements among physicists are as lost in mystical speculation as any Medieval Churchman. And that there's a veritable avalanche of (KNOWN!!!) Snake-oil Salesmen like Deepak Chopra ready to take advantage of it.
      If you're one of the millions of Lemmings that at any given point in history wish to be taken advantage of by it: that is your prerogative.
      But know well that this has nothing whatsoever to do with the understanding of reality. And also that, if you believe in Karma (as you probably do (LoL)): if you're holding such beliefs you're no doubt ready to be hit by a 'Bus of some kind (let's hope not a 'real' one!).
      As for Shankara: what I know of what he said, or what he's reputed to have said, or the interpretation that's been put on it (WHO CARES!!!)......he's as much of a C**t as all the above-mentioned persons.
      You're not in a position to talk down to me, mate....so don't.

    • @roys8474
      @roys8474 9 лет назад

      +tim13354 You are fundamentally wrong on all points. First is your slanderous accusation of Chopra on drugs, which based on zero evidence. Second is your rant about Shankara, who you obviously know nothing about. Third is your denial that "An object of perception out there is not fundamental reality," which proclaims your absolute ignorance of almost every science out there. Shouldn't you be the one bending over for all your pseudo-Philosophical/Scientific posturing?

    There is no radiance. There is no expansiveness. The books that I saw don't make much sense. It is all intellectual; ideas and concepts... It is more of an intellectual discussion. Very sad... I don't get a sense that Dr Chopra is functioning from the Void or Soul level at least. Ego will be present quite often on those levels. Even then the expression would be totally different...

    • @DrMarangoz
      @DrMarangoz 8 лет назад

      +Jeff Royer Because I have eyes and I know what I am looking for. It is my job to read people well. It is my job to honest. Dr Chopra doesn't claim to be Self realised as far as I am aware. He certainly doesn't look and feel it. The interviewer is asking dumb questions... That's how we spread dumbness. Another show man! Realisation of Self has nothing to do with intellect/mind. Mind's issues and confusion is what stands on the way of Realisation. The Heart can only know... You must know it by now as you have read so many clever books... All the best.

      People can be helped in many ways. Writing books on enlightening thoughts can be much helpful as it can benefit many people. Lot of people in America or Europe may be financially well to do, but they are suffering much more in other areas like relationship, greed, lust, drugs addiction etc. So suffering is everywhere - just the types are different.
