Thank you so much for posting this. I'm going off to Dublin (first time ever) solely to see Alan in John Gabriel Borkman in two weeks time - simply can't wait now! I love his expression here when he sees a clip of himself as Snape - priceless! And I certainly spotted those hands as the previous reviewer did! Whoever it was will have to try harder if they were trying to grab Alan - I'm first in the queue!! :-)
Well, they did kind of grow up together, even though he mostly hung out w/ Lily. I've wondered what would've happened if Snape had ever shown up at the Dursley home. Would Petunia recognize him? How would she react to seeing him again, after all those years? Harry doesn't seem to have mentioned him by name in front of her, so did she know the boy from Spinner's End was now 1 of her nephew's teachers? Or would she even care?
Pretty sure she would've recognized him, she'd probably hate him cause she hated James as well, although maybe she would've hated Snape a little bit less. Not quite sure how she'd react, probably surprised, but possibly not very happy about it, depending on whether she liked him or not, and I'm pretty sure she doesn't know he's a teacher, unless he told her when he was little about his apirations, which I doubt, since Petunia was never very keen about magic and/or wizards, and she would most likely not care very much :p
I think Petunia would have hated Snape more than she even hated James! She actually knew Snape as the kid who made Lily aware she was a wizard. She's seen him perform at least bits of magic - He dropped a branch on her as well. Also, he found the letter Petunia sent to Dumbledore begging him to let her go to Hogwarts. For all intents and purposes, Snape was a "freak" living in a bad neighbourhood. (Can you tell I just re-read Deathly Hallows? lol)
em, either its 10 secs until clip, or, more like ly , 10 mins left in i/view time . i actually didnt notice the pink hands until you mentioned , tho'. so, you dont need to buy me lunch, unless you're in Toronto .
I actually got to Dublin this time last year to see these three in this play - & I'm SO glad I did! They were ALL brilliant - but nothing will take away the memory of being that close to AR (only three rows back) & actually seeing & feeling his presence. I wish I could travel to NY to see him now in the shortly to start 'Seminar' on Broadway - but for the money to get there (from the UK) & better health, I would!! :-)
Alan....I..love...you!!!!!...for ever....You are so great and nice, perfekt actor and so sexy.Thank's for all that you have made.In my dreams i can see you in Dublin.
Hi there. Greetings from Canada :-) for real, Lindsay Duncan did a fabulous guest spot on the program Absolutely Fabulous (she played a character named "Jeanne Durand..you can see clips here on RUclips) .. it was the last set of shows they did...she was almost unrecognizable, the make up was amazing..and she was FUNNY..she did a great job.. :-) xx Kirk..Montreal, Canada
I think you are mixing up Lindsay Duncan and Joanna Lumley . both excellent actresses. as a Dubliner I was lucky enough to see the play john Gabriel borkman . it was an excellent play with a brilliant cast
Alan Rickman..debonair as all heck..love him.. Lindsay Duncan, she looked TOTALLY DIFFERENT when she was on Absolutely Fabulous, actually for awhile I was like, is this really Lindsay Duncan-fascinating lady Kirk..Montreal, Canada
I hate when talk show hosts put their guests on the spot by asking loaded political questions. Seriously, we know the Irish have a chip on their shoulder (and I can totally empathize), but do they have to bring it up with every Englishman they can? Asking if you took the side of a polarizing Irish figure like Michael Collins is a bit rude. At least Alan handled it with grace.
Mr.Alan Rickman is a AMANZING Actor he was AMANZING in Harry Potter Severus Snape was the BEST in all 7 Harry Potter Movies Severus Snape 4 Ever and Always
can someone tell me what mixture the interviewer says about the stage with Snape, so that Alan has reacted to this statement, as if in disgust, and sadness
What a waste. Tubridy is reasonable on the radio, but to have such a luxury set of guests and to throw away the opportunity in such a superficial way is disappointing.
i only watched this because of Alan
JohnPlz84 same
Same
Sameeeeeeee xD
Me toooo
same
Alan Rickman had such a beautiful laugh! Every time he laughs I felt happy. RIP Alan, we all loved your characters. You will live on in your movies.
They were playing a jazz version of "Pretty Women" from Sweeney Todd when the actors came on. That was awesome.
thank you for pointing that out, shame on me, I didn't notice
R.I.P Alan Rickman. Only ever could be one English man that could play the role of an Irish Patriot
He is/was a half Irish
@@Hannelle84 no he wasn't, he had one grandparent who was irish, on his mothers side, who was welsh.
His mother was Welsh and his father's people were Irish so I guess the celt was in his genes. ........Mary
Did anyone else notice the pair of hands at 05:48?

I can't help but smile with him.
"Mr.Potter...Our newest celeberity"
Whoa, the original cast from Les liaisons dangereuses, together again. Cool.
I want Alan to point at me and say: "You. now." lol
I can just see, in Harry Potter, Aunt Petunia hitting Snape over the head any time she saw him.
Well, they did kind of grow up together, even though he mostly hung out w/ Lily. I've wondered what would've happened if Snape had ever shown up at the Dursley home. Would Petunia recognize him? Danielle Musella Harry would have known earlier on then about his mum and Snape being friends, or at least knowing each other.
I think Petunia would have hated Snape more than she even hated James! She actually knew Snape as the kid who made Lily aware she was a wizard.
