I did the flight as the bus journey looked like it mainly went through palm oil plantations, not too interesting. Maybe I was wrong! This was 2010 I think. Can’t remember where we stayed but in the day we went up to a smart hotel at the back of the town on a hill and used their pool. It was before WiFi was everywhere so I had to go to an internet cafe where loads of local teenagers were playing noisy video games with no headphones. It was deafening. Then we went on an organised 3 day trip to a river camp on the Kinabatangan River, which was amazing.
I did the same bus ride, nice views to visit my uncle. I'd say you need a few days at least. Went to Orang Utan sanctuary, my dad's primary school (St Michael's and the 19th tainted windows Anglican church, reminded me of England) and the Yacht Club (tons of English history there). You'd need to look closer to see more British legacies though. Enjoy your trip.
Enjoyed my sunday morning watching your travels.......Tracy is off tomorrow to Spain for 5 days at her apartment......and Me am "Staycation in style"....kinda makes me jealous of all the trips people are embarking on......but I also know my limits.......hugs see you in the next video...Stay Safe dear friend

Wow that sounds amazing thank you for sharing. I did not do the river this time as I had enrolled in an online course to get my teaching exam.

Happy Sunday have a bacon sandwich for me 😁🥰🥓
Sandakan used to be the capital of sabah
Oh thanks I didn’t know that. 🥰
@nanwithabackpack later the british moved to kk (formerly jesselton)
Thank you so much for the info 🥰
Sandakan itself is nothing much, you need to visit those nearby islands and Sipadan etc..
Yes you’re right…… I’m glad I went but probably wouldn’t stop over again. 😃
Semporna is worst but no choice. To go to paradise, we hv to go through hell first.
