One of the best things about buzzbait fishing is its versatile ability that can be used in various conditions. Other than the dead of winter, a buzzbait is a great option for most times of the year down south, especially on windy, overcast days. Montgomery says the biggest advantage of fishing a buzzbait is that it allows you to quickly cover a lot of water.
Unlike other topwaters that force you to slow down, a simple cast and wind is all that’s needed to work a buzzbait. Montgomery delivers a tip on how pointing your rod straight at the bait will minimize snags and hangups. He almost treats it as a frog to a certain extent and explains that you shouldn't be afraid to throw a buzzbait around the thickest of cover.
Breaking down the setup, Montgomery prefers to use a soft plastic on his buzzbait instead of the traditional skirt. This allows the fish to key in on something hard. A 7’3” medium-heavy rod paired with a fast gear ratio reel is ideal for making long casts, picking up slack, and pulling fish out of heavy cover. Montgomery likes using 20-pound fluorocarbon, a nice middle ground between monofilament and braid, but says that some prefer other options. With the right gear, techniques, and setup, you'll be well on your way to reeling in more fish than ever before on a buzzbait!

I think it is great that people who don't speak English as their first language are able to make videos about fishing for the rest of us. Keep up the good work and you can become fluent in English if you work hard enough at it! Way to go!
Isn't he from SC. This comment is killing me 😂😂
NC
I understood every word. If you don't speak Southern English, that's a YOU problem. I would repent if I were you because GOD talks like we do! 😜
Bless your heart

We're can we see whole shows at
Like the skirt off ... nice presentation ... thank you for the great tip ... and yes surprisingly weedless fun top water bait capable of catching you a heavier Bass.
Excellent video Andy.
I'd like Red Bull to sponsor a Bassmaster/MLF angler! It would help bring in tons of younger and/or new viewers! Seeing a Red Bull boat would be awesome. IDK why or how that idea became an thing for me but it would definitely help the sport a-lot.
I'm no expert, but maybe don't lick the lead keeper.
Great action video. I would have thought fluorocarbon line would make your topwater baits sink.
That is more so for your walking baits, or anything that you would twitch on the top. But top water that you keep moving like your wake baits, whopper ploppers and buzz baits. The fluoro don't effect it like that since you don't have to worry bout the line making the nose dig. If that makes sense.
@Harden Fishing Thanks for the reply. Yes, it does make sense. I have always used monofilament. I will give the fluorocarbon a try.
When your moving it that fast it really doesn’t matter
What weight?
I caught a sunfish on a buzz bait
🤣
I'm guessing that he's skipping an open water to just show that you can skip with it?
@DFWdarin he probably is for showmanship. However, Andy is arguably the best skipper on the planet. No boat dock is safe around him. A lot of it is muscle memory/habit too
Sounds like a commercial
It is a commercial
Lol
