Mine was surging, especially in eco mode. I had to mess with the choke to sort of smooth it out but it still wasn't right. I had cleaned the carb before and it didn't help. I had not taken the the main jet out of the top. I actually didn't see it. This time I took the jet out and cleaned it and it runs perfectly. You do not have to take the throttle stepper motor off to get to the jet. There is a hole in the stepper motor bracket just for getting a screwdriver to the jet holder (is just holds the jet in place). Remove the little jet holder and the jet slides out. The only real pain is getting the frame over and off the gas filler lid. Anyway thanks for telling about the top jet, you didn't really show where it is, but it's easy to find when you know to look for it.
Thanks for the video. My neighbor gave me one of these, says it does not start anymore. WIll use some of the information in his video to get it up and running.
Hi Jerry, were you able to get it started? I just purchased one of these and it won’t start hoping I can get it working I got a great price on it but I’m hoping to fix isn’t too hard. Any feedback would be great
Good video thank you. What isn’t quite clear is that there are two jets. One is in the verticale hole and main one is in the side of the tube (not removed in video). What isn’t clear to me is how to remove the vertical jet. Left both in place and cleaned both using carb cleaner spray and a long thin wire. Also sprayed all the passages in the carb. Replaced everything and she now runs like a charm!
Thanks! Yes, I missed recording that step in the video, those jets generally come out real easy with a good flat blade screwdriver. But the wire and carb cleaner method work too. 👍
Remove the top two screws off the electronic throttle control. It comes right off and is a lot easier to deal with. You need to turn the throttle by hand to get it back on but it easy.
I've found that even with a new one, the choke is required to restart the engine if it has stalled out to overloading. At least, that's how mine is. :) Also, there seems to be a difference in the plastic moulding over the oil fill/drain port. Mine has a plastic piece to catch any drips and lets the oil flow out so that no oil ends up inside the casing. Yours is a 2015, mine a 2017 so maybe there has been some changes and improvements after Yamaha switched to manufacturing the EF2000iS in China. I am not sure if it's an added piece of moulding or a separate part. I shall check next time I do an oil change.
Thank goodness I saw your comment. Been working on my A-ipower generator (made by Yamaha) for days trying to dismount the carburetor. Didn’t have to dismount it thanks to you. Grabbed a carb cleaner, a wire and unscrewed the lower screw. Problem solved. Thanks
You do not have to remove the black electronic governor to access and clean the pilot jet. There is a hole for a screwdriver above the pilot jet that a screwdriver fits through at a slight angle. Works perfectly and will save you a lot of headache when you loose that little spring.

I would have brought the 2,000, but I brought the 1,000 and again. As my first one started on one pull. But I had no use and gave it to a friend. So yr later got another 1000 but brand new 3 pull to start. And now don't want to start. Going to have to clean the carb someday want to use it for a 5000 btu ac.
this is all beyond my skill level. where would I take mine to get it tuned up? mine started blowing black smoke and running funny out of nowhere so I turned it off.
There is likely a screen or filter somewhere in the fuel system already, but it never hurts having an extra one to keep out dirt. Not sure of the magnetic oil cap would do much on this generator since it wouldn't be at the bottom of the crank case.
Just need a medium sized flat blade screwdriver, it's in the bug center tube. Make sure you use a nice "sharp" screwdriver that fits the jet well, otherwise you risk damaging the jet.
Hello friend, I lost the little spring that goes underneath the throttle controller, I wasn’t able to find it, do you know where could I buy it? I got on the Yamaha web page, to try and find it in the diagrams, but either I cannot identify it or they don’t show it. Thanks a lot for your help, Great video!
Thanks! Man, that sucks about the spring. I bet you might be able to steal a spring from a pen and cut it in half, that might work enough to get you by.
I added a fuel filter in line from the tank to the carb on mine. No more dirty carb surge issues after that.
Great video. Now to fix my fuel leak...

Perfect. Mine only runs if I have the choke out all the way. Going to disassemble and clean per your instructions and hope all is better when done.
Sounds like a plan, hopefully that clears it up for you.

great video just wish it was longer
More videos please 👍👍👈 it's been to long since the last one 😆
Haha, I hear ya, it's a busy time of the season!
great price easy to set up.
Just unscrew the bowl and slide a paperclip up the jet. Done.

Sorry I came here
There’s better information elsewhere
Yep. My little spring went flying...

Good to know!

Thanks! I always have a few projects in the works
very nice video.
Thanks!
I once had nothing but a flathead screwdriver, carb clean and a set of pliers to clean the carb on the honda equivalent of this Yamaha.
Always have to appreciate when a manufacturer actually considers the person working on the machine!
Damn.. no smoke no fire no explosion

Yamaha dealer should be able to do it, or recommend a place that can. Or any good small engine shop.
I have this same inverter, that wont stay running in economy mode, could the cause be a dirty spark arrestor?
It's possible, but I would try briefly pulling the choke when it starts to die, if it starts running again it's most likely starving for fuel.
Is there a battery inside?
Nope, no battery.
@@toocheaptosmoke thanks for the reply. I just had the carb worked on and now it's good to go.
You recommend a magnetic oil cap or a inline fuel filter on these small generators?
There is likely a screen or filter somewhere in the fuel system already, but it never hurts having an extra one to keep out dirt. Not sure of the magnetic oil cap would do much on this generator since it wouldn't be at the bottom of the crank case.
Yamaha...way too complicated design...glad I bought the Honda
Sounded like a Jetsons mobile when it started up lol
Haha, it does!
My Generator Yamaha 2000 I SVE2 carburetor is leaking fuel I remove the carburetor and fuel is Escape out of a little hole
That's usually from a dirty carb, when the float needle and seat get stuck and doesn't close completely. A good cleaning usually fixes it.
How do u get the main jet out
Just need a medium sized flat blade screwdriver, it's in the bug center tube. Make sure you use a nice "sharp" screwdriver that fits the jet well, otherwise you risk damaging the jet.

😰😨😨😰😰😨
You sound clueless. The air filter is meant to be oiled. Check the service manual (which you clearly have not)
Stifle yourself geezer. Not a huge deal.
