Thanks for saving me a lot of money on this issue. I had the same Oil leak for years on my 2004 Escalade ESV 6.0 and it finally got bad enough to fix it. My Oil pressure had been fluctuating abnormally on and off for about 6 months and my small leak became a huge spot on my drive way. I first changed both valve cover gasket after seeing leaks and the leak went from a big spot to smaller drops and small spot. So we suspected the rear mail seal. After watching this video and seeing the Oil leaking from the top with your Crankshaft sensor having a flat O-ring I suspected my Crankshaft Sensor or Oil pressure sensor as being the culprit. I verified with a fiber optic wire camera that there was oil in the area of the two sensor. I replaced both Sensors the Crankshaft sensor failed internally and the connector was full with oil. My leak has been fixed and I didn't have to do the major job of replacing the rear main seal. Also after replacing the gasket on the valve covers I had white smoke upon start up and also saw another video that showed the fix to be the drivers side valve cover with built in PCV valve. This fix also worked for me. Thanks to the youtubers that share the knowledge. Gob Bless you and God Bless America
100% Conjunto! Thank you for adding your experience with us too! I have the same issue and I'm going to check the Crankshaft sensor and replace both of them since I'm getting some faulty oil pressure reading, TY!
Very well done video! I've offered to do this for a friend of my wife (due to pandemic-based unemployment, she can't take it anywhere else). I'll be laying on my back doing it (two weeks! ;-) ), and based on your video, it looks like I have all the tools necessary (not sure about the oil pressure sensor tool, that wasn't explored deep enough, but probably not too hard to figure out). Your generosity is going to be paid forward. Thank you.

Outside of the seal that goes in the plate goes in dry the inside that goes in on the snout of the crank goes in wet the alignment tools are NOT a waste of money. I have done quite a few successfully without the tool but one job made me buy it because I had to pull the trans 3 times. For that much of a labor intensive job especially if your working off your back spend the 50 bucks on the tool just for the insurance.
I never heard of a 6.0 in a 1500. Wheel caps look like a 2500?? The job goes better when it's on a nice lift other than laying on your back. Nice video.
As the others said... the 1500HD is basically a 2500HD with a badge job. Essentially the same truck to the rear axle, and sits 2" lower. Other than that, it's an HD-spec, 8-lug truck. ONLY came in CCSB, though. Now, there was a way to get a 6.0L in a regular 1500 of that vintage. GMC Sierra Denali. That got the 6.0L, but the rest of the truck was 1/2 ton / 6-lug. Not sure what trans it got (the 1500HD got the 4L80).

That looks like a good shop. I know where to go when I need some trans work.
was a little new to this but do you have to pull the transfer case first or can you pull it all at same time as trans?
Is the exhaust stock??
Meow much did this cost you?
Excellent video job well done👍
I have a oil leak somewhere on my 2006 Yukon Denali xl GMC my starter was not starting my car cause it had oil on it
Why did they pull the transfer off separate? That's extra work.
Does the seal go in dry,and are the alignment tools a waste of money?
Outside of the seal that goes in the plate goes in dry the inside that goes in on the snout of the crank goes in wet the alignment tools are NOT a waste of money. I have done quite a few successfully without the tool but one job made me buy it because I had to pull the trans 3 times. For that much of a labor intensive job especially if your working off your back spend the 50 bucks on the tool just for the insurance.
What was he using the long hooked rod for? I am doing this right now and just removed the transfer case.
To pull the vent tube
I never heard of a 6.0 in a 1500. Wheel caps look like a 2500?? The job goes better when it's on a nice lift other than laying on your back. Nice video.
It’s a 1500HD. The HD has a lot of the same options as a 2500 (upgraded suspension, engine, trans, etc)
In other words it is practically a 2500.
I have one 2005 chevy Silverado 1500HD
As the others said... the 1500HD is basically a 2500HD with a badge job. Essentially the same truck to the rear axle, and sits 2" lower. Other than that, it's an HD-spec, 8-lug truck. ONLY came in CCSB, though.
Now, there was a way to get a 6.0L in a regular 1500 of that vintage. GMC Sierra Denali. That got the 6.0L, but the rest of the truck was 1/2 ton / 6-lug. Not sure what trans it got (the 1500HD got the 4L80).
Awesome step by step instructions. Best yet I have seen
They should have replaced your bar bell too why they did that much work also RTV goes on the corners of the oil pan too rear cover
i can't believe modern car manufactures still put these fragile parts to seal the engine. These seals should be designed for lasting life time.
If they did that they wouldn’t make any money
What was the total cost for the repair?
About $1800
Did they really do all this for a oil pressure switch..???
How much do they charge to do this?
About $1800
Cost?
Jerome Burrasca $850-$900
That's your yoke. It's worn out a little... It's when you let off and then get back on slight clunk... Rear driveshaft yoke
very helpful thank you
15:11 .......... maaaaaaa nnnn boutta do this on my back on the ground tomorrow
This video had great potential...but all the music drowning out the mechanics talking killed it...
I dont understand why y'all did not change the torque converter seal while you were there. Maybe you did and didn't show the procedure.
13 hrs, 1 man lying on creeper. 03 suburban 2500, 6.0l on two ft tall jack stands
He should have install the seal to the cover first and lube the seal and turn the crank a few time before tightening everything
I watched another video and they said do not put any lube on the seal due to the type of materiel. I thought the same thing about lubing it.
Where are you located the shop. I'm from Wichita I like the work they do
Carlos Luna the shop is in Katy, Texas just west of Houston on I-10.
How to Do it yourself..... step one, have a shop with all the tools lol
Nicely done guys !
Is that Ryan Upchurch?
Curtis is a 'G'.....
Boy this makes my 2010 Camaro ss look too easy
Straight from the mechanic, pulling a trans on your back could take a week, Shure wish I had a lift
Bottom 2 last so you’re seal doesn’t miss align
I cringed when I heard that
All data says to start with those two... When using the alignment tool so the plate doesn't get pulled down.
“Do it yourself” then proceeds to take it to a shop and lift it in the air
