Perfectly honest, I don’t like it whenever a game requires a 3rd party account. I already got too many from other games to keep track of. But if it is optional. And only required for things like crossplay and crossprogression, then I would be fine with it. On another note, I really hope they add local/couch co-op for console down the line. I would love to play this game with my brother.
I dont like this idea of creating an account at Moon Studio, Sony did that and a lot of people on steam are pissed at them, i already bought the game on EA, but if that was a requirement at launch i dont think i would buy the game, i think it would scare a lot of people of too.
baldurs gate 3 have also its own client and login when you launch it from steam and you need to reqister in larian studio own account and no one complains it. when you play any mmorpg gaems you need to create own acoount for that game, nothing new in this industry

It’s not a tactic to boost numbers for sales really. Thomas is just trying to find the best solution for both sides long term.

Personally I think Moon should get the game to that 90% positive review score on Steam that the developer said they were after first before doing something that will hurt the review score even further.
I think the reason for creating an account makes sense, it's so you have one location for your save data on their side (thinking cloud save style) that allows you to access your worlds and characters from multiple devices. I think what happened with hell divers2 could've been mitigated had they launched the game with these requirements. If nrftw launches with an optional account creation for multiplayer and cross saves with the option to opt out should be fine. You need to let your players have agency, or at least the appearance of choice.
I don't got a problem with the account. Always in such cases I just want to be assured that my information is not used for anything unnecessary. That's it.

The only crossplay I need is between my desktop and my SteamDeck and I refuse to have to subscribe to a third party account when buying games on Steam. As long as it is optional and you can disable crossplay to limit multiplayer to your own platform, I don't mind.

Hey Brian!!!! I would definitely have a moon studios account creation “option” for cross platform/multiplayer experience while playing “online”. It has to be free though. From a business perspective, it’s viable long term. The other way is inconvenient for moon studios, even though it’s doable.. it’s just another addition to the equation that will not be cost effective. For the common folk, it will be easy. Yes. But, if someone can’t find 5 minutes to create a free account to experience greatness with other people… you lazy af 😅. I said it. Love you! Keep up the good work!
The problem are data brokers, privacy, and data security, not if the account will be free (because it will be free for sure)... I speak as someone who had data stolen by hackers who broke into some agency's server... Agency whom I didn't gave my data to, but had them anyway, because of, of all things, my EA account. EA sold my data to a third party, and I had no word in it... Fine. But then people stole my data from that third party. Not fine. So it's not about being lazy, it's more about being safe.

My wife and I paid off a lot of debt before we started having kids and we live debt free now which helps out dramatically. I’d point you to Dave Ramsey because his system really helped us. I hope and pray you don’t miss your window but even if you do, adoption is a great option as well.
i mean if its a one time download and i dont have to log into steam to play and you guys add a save username and password so i dont have to think about it after the first time i wouldnt mind
im only ever gonna play this on my PC or steam deck. i dont need an account to play on other devices. if they wanna do it, i dont care, however i am super tired of having to have multiple accounts for differnt games, its just annoying. im not gonna buy this game multiple times on differnt platforms if they always thought about it from the beginning, then why not just have gone forward that way, instead of brining this up and potentially cause problems. kinda dumb.
I am good with a moon account, i played warframe before and found it all right. But I do think what comes next matters, e.g. will there be a moon launcher? Will there be in game purchases etc. And seriously pls dont take genshin as a good example lol.

It’s to bridge the gap between platforms. It’s pretty standard practice for cross/play/save games some of them just handle it in the background or you set it up so long ago that it’s already done and it just connects
"life is better with limitations" very true for many things. art is a prime example (pixel art and game dev are the main ones that I think of). limitations make things a puzzle, which brings crazy ingenious solutions you never would have thought of otherwise.
Accounts yes. Other than PSN accounts aren't really a problem. As for always online, no. Always online games mean that nobody owns the game they buy, as the servers could be shut down and nobody could play. While offline allows backup file saves so even if the game is gone you can keep playing

And then there was a distinct lack of content which at the time was like. "okay. But you cant be taking too long on that. I'm not waiting forever there's other games to play." And now its been coming up on 6 months and they gave an update that nobody asked for instead of the updates people wanted *with* no communication. and now its like. 128 players left from the 35k initial playerbase. this game is pretty dead at this point. People wont just "come back" for it when other games are coming out all the time. It's a really big problem with early access. The intial cash flow comes at the cost of losing your hype because people have already seen the game at this point. It's not "new". and the soured relations are really not good. I mean look at the discord. It's people spamming where update. As they should. It's been 6 months and they charging 51 canadian for this like 40 usd. That's a lot of money for something like this. I don't think its going to recover to its hype release levels. I think they have made things way too hard for themselves to just bounce back. Especially with how long its been and how the crucible update flopped. I mean I didn't see anybody who liked it much in the community. I thought it was mid. probably because everybody wants more content like was promised with the initial roadmap and the multiplayer update and they didn't work on the content people wanted to do this mode instead and set themselves back like 6 months. Mistakes have been made.
