I am not an intentional cynic, so I am only sharing some thoughts as I hear this interview: 1.) Okay, here’s a thought: receiving a Grammy or any award is not a solo award, as Toby said, so I say why attend the ceremony; avoid it: i.e. thank them from a distance since it takes a village to make it, then it should take a village to take it or receive it and if the village can’t attend then don’t accept an award without the village. 2.) Wait, “Jamaican wife?” She is from Jamaica but she is not a typical African (dark skin) Jamaican. I saw her and never assumed she is from an African heritage let alone Jamaican, outside of her accent. Diverse, in relations to his wife, is in reference to her nationality, which means she is not American.
