Hello and thank you for this informative video. Peter, if you have any connection with the government, please remind them that a capital city is not just for government officials and other civil servants. They need affordable and also cheap housing to avoid slums being developed because of a lack of foresight. Think about the mistakes in Abuja.

The Indonesian capital also moved from Jakarta on the island of Java to Nusantara on the island of Kalimantan. For now, the construction of the presidential palace, ministry offices, ministerial houses, toll roads and wharves is still under construction. Next year in August 2024 the Indonesian capital will officially move to the Nusantara. The relocation of the Indonesian capital there is also for equitable distribution of development, especially in eastern Indonesia and Jakarta which are already densely populated.
I didn’t Dodoma was only a capital by name but government operated from Dar. Thanks to Magufuli for effecting change. Looks like a great investment opportunities exist in the city. I don’t know if a Ugandan can buy land and build there? They need to fast track this EAC Federation thing so that we have more freedoms in the region.
No African citizen of a country should pay for a single square meter of land. To who by the way ? Only for the Standards required to build his/her house, his/her small percentage for the community infrastructure, roads, water, sewage, electricy, parks etc. With❤️from 🇿🇼.
I think you are so right, but how do we go about this, when we still using the old corrupted neocolonialism method,Africa need new regulations and open borders,
C’mon it’s not a ‘new’ capital. Dodoma has been the country’s capital since 1974. It’s just been pending complete transfer of official functions from Dar es Salaam which the late president did recently.
He has acknowledged the fact that the City was declared to be capital city in 1974. But the materialisation of the idea came about 4 decades later during the 5th government. And it was Magufuli who shifted himself to Dodoma and all the ministries. To add on that new infrastructure are enacted now not then in 1974.
English is just a language like other languages Wachina wanawajengea barabara hata "this and that" hawajui... huyo mhandisi kuongea kwake kiswahili haimaanishi hajui kiingerez
Other poor performing African countries need to shift their Capital cities to speed up and spread infrastructure development. That is how USA overcame the Great Depression (Keynesian economics).
They didn't move their capitals, but the build infrastructures and lots of roads to connect states to state and cities to cities, and the manufacturers do the rest,
Mwanza is doing well with mines, farms, lake and trade with ugandans and kenyans. Arusha is growing fast with tourism and mines Mbeya is the hub of agriculture Anf Tanga is at it's best with it been the third grossing port in east africa with the uganda oil pipeline transit. So Tanzania is going well as it is.
If Tanzanians will choose to speak English in public forums their GDP will double in no time. Excessive Speaking of Vernacular is hindering the development of Tanzania.
Lack of vision on the road construction , they don't see the future because the population will explode in the near future so the roads would have been expanded because from what I see in this video it's too small
Do you know how much a road costs not to mention its life-cycle. Not to mention supply and demand, imagine building and running a warehouse 50% bigger because you might need space 20 in years when MAYBE people choose your location because you have magnet. You can build Universities, schools, markets, Terminals , hospitals etc which will have way greater impact than any road
Dont worry, there is a ring road being built, there is a land preserve for light rail lines, also the government offices are located out of the congested downtown, that place with a post saying magufuli city is a suburb several kilómetres out of downtown where all política, government and diplomátic offices are being built
Very disappointing is to call it Magufulli city, just called it Dodoma city, my God!! we do not need heads of states/presidents in Africa naming national projects, for example roads, airports, bridges , etc after themselves 2023. And now a whole City. Come on! My African brothers and sisters.
It is not a whole city that is called after his name its a place where govt offices and embassies are located. But in fact he deserves more homage than that b'se of what he has done in Tz. For example this project of allocating govt offices to Dodoma; the city was declared govt seat since 1974 officially, but it took 42 yrs to be implemented in a large scale but his four predecessors had done a little which is negligible compared to him. And that is only one area but there are many areas that he did very well to honoured by his ppl. After all the culture of naming after former presidents or African heroes is very ordinary in Tz u will find many places from halls, roads, streets, stadia, air ports and national parks named after Nelson Mandela, Kwame Nkuruma, Julius Nyerere, Kenyatta, Lumumba and soon. It may sound strange maybe from where you come from but in Tz that culture is very ordinary and acceptable. But to him (JPM) there many places that are named after him from bus stations, schools, bridges and even this location on video and this is not end many will be called after his name b'se he deserves even though he has passed away already.
Love and respect to John Pombe Magufuli; an African hero. I like that Tanzania also name many of its roads with the names of African heroes , except Obama street (not an African hero)
