I've read that these heat rejection films cause too much heat buildup on double glazed panes, causing the gas to expand and break the seal. Does installing on the exterior pane solve that problem?
I thought Prestige 70 used a protective liner on the side that contacts the glass which then exposes the adhesive - why's the installer here pulling it off the front?
I'm considering putting this on a particularly
large non-opening architectural window. BUT
the window has lots of thin wood panes. Can
it be installed over the panes as well to help
with water leaks or does it have to be cut to
each individual glass pane?
Good question. The film needs to be installed onto the small glass panes. It cannot go over the wood.
@@thewindowtreatmentspecialists so if I’m wrapping the wood panes too, does one overlap the other? No? Silicone calk? How would you do that?
Btw I’m going to be using the 3m Di Noc exterior wrap for the wood panes now and the sun control for the glass. So I’m just not sure the order of over lap or just butt them up and calk 🤷🏼♀️
can it be installed from the inside? I have a conservatory on the 2nd floor and no way to do it on the outside
90% of films are installed inside the structure. This method is only used when inside is not an option and typically is 1/2 the warranty duration. If getting this done, ask for interior installation.
yes it can. 3m films (most of them) have internal and external version. This is Prestige (Ext) version. But look at the tech spec of the Prestige itself. The heat reduction is lower on Internal version. External have better parameters. I will install external in next month and just did go thru whole tech spec of all 3m films. there is litte difference vs Prestige 40 vs 70. And Prestige 90 don't give you anything (almost). Also some of the 3m films do or don't have versions that are with metal - therefore interference with radio signals. ;) this one don't have
