“It looks like they bombed a drive in movie” that line gets me every time. Rest in Peace and thank you Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed, Jackie Gleeson and everyone else who has sadly left us who helped make one of this 26 year olds comfort movies.
That jump at 1:38 was massive. They showed it in regular speed so it's easy to miss how amazing it was.
This entire demolition scene was some type of of record in car chase smashup awesomeness. Sure, the movie wasn't great, but probably nothing can top the old fashioned good 'ol boy 70s and 80s American spirit of this.
I wonder how long it took them to plan, coordinate and shoot this massive stunt scene. That many vehicles out in the desert is no easy shoot
It’s said that the jump at 1:38 holds the world record for the longest car jump in a movie with said car using its original completely stock motor.
That car was a Dodge Monaco (the ultimate police car then), jumped under its own power.
The guy set a record for the longest ramp jump off a truck.
He also compressed 4 vertebrae but he still has the record 41 years later.
The movie was definitely great
This always made me think of the A-Team (the TV show). Lots of destruction without anyone actually dying...
In 1 episode somebody did die but I can't remember who.
@@annavenekamp8948 Hannibal pushed one of the bad guys of a sky tram when they were fighting.
Just like when a car would explode, fly through the air, land on its roof, and then the driver ( and passengers) would climb out unharmed.
The best kind of movies, try watch out were mad, same kind of movie
LOOK OUT JR
"Are you all right, Junior?" "Yeah." "You would be, you s**t." 😂😂😂😂
That’s the funniest dialogue for him to say that
Kledus: Fred this one for you my Boy
Fred: Bark
I could imagine one of Bufords brothers telling him, "I feel....we were denied...Critical. Need to Know. INFORMATION."
Wrong movie series Burt 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really need to watch that movie again
I really need to watch that movie again
I seriously need to see that movie again
I've used Jerry Reed's line at 2:45 on my own CB more than once lol. I LOVE this entire scene
RIP LEGENDS BURT REYNOLDS, JERRY REED, AND JACKIE GLEASON
And Don deluise
@@thebrummierailenthusiasts5329 "Don". 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes Donald deluise the man who is in that film also he’s died too
You can add Mike Henry to that list too. He played Junior, and he passed away a few months ago.
@@thebrummierailenthusiasts5329 his name was Dom Deluise.

@@fernandorocha8459even better truckers vs dot
What a jump in the Monaco at 1:38! The stuntman broke his back doing it...
...in a Dodge Monaco.
I wonder if the other red older cop cars were Monacoes as well.
I believe it's also in the Guinness world records. Longest a car has jumped under its own power.
@@dars5229 id say someone broke it nowadays
@@louisvillenashvillerailroa5269 You mean with CGI or with a stunt driver legitimately putting the hammer down and hitting a jump.
I can't believe all them light bars that were destroyed
Loved this as a kid growing up. Then as an adult when I'd notice stupid stuff like the tow truck hooking the back end of the cop car and it splits in half like it's been cut instead of ripping the axle out from under the car. Or how the giant pipe falls off the flatbed and comes to a stop level with the ground and then a second later is partially buried, complete with dirt piled up against it, to allow the cop car to enter it. Overall the movie is still great, but the stunts are amazing enough without putting in these effects. There are times in that scene I wonder how the hell nobody died while filming it.
There proffesionals
I was waiting for the dude that drove through the tube to say "I always wanted a convertible"
It's good with the effects too
Apparently, the jump at 1:38 was completely accidental. The stuntman was supposed to stop on the truck but he miscalculated the stopping distance. He also apparently broke his back on the landing.
The car is an older model then the rest and has a roll cage installed.
It definitely was meant to jump
No mistakes just happy accidents
The stuntman who did that would later double Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2 judgement day and do the bike jump in the first chase of the film
i dont think it was an accident bc i see a red helmet on the drivers head
It's been a long time since I last seen this movie. Couldn't recall what the rest of the movie, but I remembered this scene being my favorite part. I guess after 'The Blues Brothers' I got a thing for seeing crashing police cars.
I love how you can see the ramps and spare tires for all the stunts 🤣
Or the odd one sitting on the trailer of bailed hay, just observing.
0:41 Convoy(1978) reference. Nice!!
What's the reference? I've only seen convoy once, and it was quite a while ago.
@@leodavis4242 When the truckers gang up on the Sheriff, albeit here on a larger scale.
@@AROBASPARK ah. Thank you
@@leodavis4242 If I remember right, one of the drivers in Convoy was named Roadrunner.
@@BRadfrommalibu74 Oh, yeah I forgot.
This is pure ecstasy! Now I wanna do this in real life too! 😂
The huge jumps? Me too!!!
I love this movie so much I’ve watched it since I was 4 years old and I enjoy every single moment of it
That first car that flew over the car transporter apparently was accidental. The stunt driver misjudged his approach speed and shot right over it. He was actually hurt too from what I've read so in actual fact a mistake made it into the final film
yeah stunt driving is not as easy as it looks and mistakes and injuries like that can happen

But
@MadCar2 Productions did i say it was easy? answer is no!
@MadCar2 Productions i at least am having the last laugh while i am about ground breathing! wish i can say the same for you sence you are so willing to attempt this and be wreckless!
@Andrew Drabble “shot right over it.” That’s putting it mildly, but we would all want to do that if we could.
R.I.P. Burt Reynolds, Jackie Gleason, And Jerry Reed!
Don deluise too he’s died too
I'm really sorry to ask, but does anyone know what Jerry Reed said at 1:21? I honestly can't figure it out. 😔

Rest in peace, Burt Reynolds, Jackie Gleason, Dom DeLuise, Jerry Reed, Mike Henry, and Pat McCormick.
Jake and Elwood would be proud.
Yeah
Saw that 74 Monaco flying and thought, hey, brother
This is literally every country boys dream
@@undergroundwalkerisback922 yah stuntman Gary Davis almost broke his back over that scene in a interview he did 10 yrs ago 🙏
They broke my watch!
1:14 Hey look, a convertible!
Fun fact: throughout the entire movie, the Sheriff doesn't run his emergency lights except in one scene - at 00:20 seconds, when the Garbage truck comes from behind the Texas Patrol car, you see the Sheriff's car ahead of the trunk in front of this patrol car, and you can see his Emergency lights running. The one time it does that in the whole film.
Yep
Speaking of that scene, the garbage truck rolls up behind a ‘73 Chevy Bel Air or Impala, but then as it shows him lifting up the car & dumping it in the container it’s a ‘73 Dodge Polara!
@@tieroneactual2228 For years I was wondering if the car been dump in was different from the one that comes out. At times I had the feeling, but I'm not good with ID-ing car models.
“Break for that Short Boy! You’re too old to play in the hay!”
Best calvary charge *_EVER!!_*
Sound the Charge.
@@lewissmith3896 you got it, boss!
When the trash truck lifts the police car up you can see that nobody is inside the car,but ,whatever, craziness
is what made this movie interesting ~!
I thought the person went out when lifted but i didnt see in the car
Loved this scene from this Film
Smokey and The Bandit 1 or 2 doesn’t matter, it will always be THEE best trucking film ever
R.I.P Burt Reynolds, he really was a legend
@Me262 Flying
Convoy is a fantastic trucking movie
Love that too bits as well
But for me growing up, it was always Smokey and the bandit
Fred, this ones for you my boy
2:15 i Bet that is a blues brothers refrence!

This is like three to five Asian Giant Hornets against 50,000 European Honey Bees. The police cars were no match for the convoy of trucks.

Love the slo-motion scene at 3:14.
It makes me laugh every time whenever it gets to the part when the snowman says welcome to the world's biggest game of chicken boys all the mounties turn their cars around and run scared lol

All of them are technically out of their jurisdiction
Including Bufford
I enjoy seeing those cabovers. Those kind of semis bring back good o memories. This movie was made back in the day when they were common in the USA. Good times. 😎
This is amazingly good editing its exactly like the movie by every shot

Best movie of all time by a mile
Living is called pain.
Filmmaking is the same.
That part at 2:30, how can the red car support the weight of the white car without the roof caving in?!
You're not supposed to notice that.
If only Frog didn’t leave the Bandit the night before. I bet she would’ve had a lot of fun here.
This was the best movie ever
This is the best
Late 70s and the 80s where the best for making TRUCK movies
How many cars were destroyed in this filmed?
"Fred This One's For You My Boy"
amazing movie
no county mounties were hurt in the making of this film
Just imagine how they're explain that to their commanders !!!
Where was this filmed?
About 25 miles south of Las Vegas.
Illogical moments, but to HECK with Reality, this was a BLAST!!!
If I were to rewrite Smokey And The Bandit 3, I’d make it a prequel to this one. It takes place during The Bandits mission to get the Clam Chowder down in Boston. Then after those events, this happens
This is my favorite part of the movie.Besides the part when they get the elephant.
Jackie Gleason was one of a kind.
This scene is one of the classic references for the phrase "so stupid it hurts" with the only question being if your hurt from laughing or just from the stupid.
Those truck drivers looked like they were enjoying every minute of this.
In other news, the government of Canidan PM Joe Clark collapsed due to the destruction of many.RCMP motor units. The public safety ministers resignation was not enough for the Clark government. According to reports the units were in an unsucessful in a multi juridical pursuit
Pierre Trudeau was back in power at the time this film was out. I can just envision a scene of Reginald Van Justice at the PMO with Trudeau or in front of parliament explaining himself...
Epic stuntwork!
1:37 just a good ol boy
Bro the camera man❤❤
That's bad driving for a couple of Mounties!
Must have been winter time or something when they did this scene. Lot of trucks with winter fronts on their grills.
or theyre trying to prevent too much sand getting into the engine bay and air intakes.
@@johnevers5614 Yeah that's not a issue they have. Air cleaners aren't under the hood in those days.
Not sure why else they'd have the grill covers on..theyre in a desert and alot of sand flying around.
@@johnevers5614 Could be because it's cold that time of year. That's the only reason for a winter front.

1:35 i absolutely love this jump
I do as well. My favorite scene in SATB2
i mean, the jump is so clean and smooth
This is a very good movie
The legal technicality here would be that all the cops are out of jurisdiction.
First time I saw this movie I noticed when they started wrecking the cop cars they miraculously morphed from new Pontiacs into old Dodges and Plymouths. Hell of a trick.
At 3:15 is the scene I always remember from the back of the VHS tape...
funniest part of the entire movie
