I am a Black Woman African American and every since I heard first this song on The Devil's Rejects soundtrack and have fallen hard I live in St Louis Missouri and I play this song in the city very loud when I'm Rollin down the street but I feel like I am in Tennessee Hills this song really gives me Goosebumps and Brave Awakenings!
Great story. It is so good to hear from someone else who gets goosebumps from music. This song always does it for me also. So many people do not seem to feel music at a level deep enough to feel that euphoria. Some of us just seem to be wired that way. Here's to more Goosebumps and Brave Awakenings!
Brave dreams that are kindled from ashes Rise out o'er the battle below Spread wings over all that he passes So his life can stay immortal to his country Ah the shades of green that fall beneath this tree So let the winds of change That rearrange the country Let also sow a seed of memory Marlene in the cool satin sashes Spread dreams with the battle below Bring love with a song as she passes So his life can stay immortal to the country And let every man aware of being free Mmm, when she talks of times when wine is handed to me From a face that walked out of a memory And now that the battle is done And you wake up in the morning With the sun up in the sky Summer never gives you no warning then Flowers are getting thrown up to cover the mud up on the line Valleys getting greener and there's Nothing but love on your mind Brave dreams that are kindled from ashes Rise out o'er the battle below Spread wings over all that he passes So his life can stay immortal to the country The shades of the green that brought to me a victory But the winds of change They've rearranged this country They also sow the seed of memory, yeah. Let it always sow a seed of memory, yeah Let it always sow the seed of memory, yeah
This is Rob Zombie's favorite album. It makes sense that is musical output is quite a lot more diverse sounding than most people give him credit for. It's sad people just want him to rewrite Dragula and Thunder Kiss '65 twelve times over every 3 years. Same with his movies. People want him to make Devil's Rejects over and over when he wants to make dramas about Silent Era film stars.
I was reading an article that Jimmy Page wanted Terry Reid to join Led Zeppelin,he declined but recommended to Page that he call Robert Plant and the rest is history.I never heard of Terry Reid so I look ed him up on RUclips and this is the first song of his I have ever heard and I am 51 years old I think he sounds amazing.
@@Invictus13666 The truth is by the time Page asked Terry to be a part of Led Zeppelin, Terry already had his first album "Bang Bang You're Terry Reid" out in the UK and the US and he was touring ( Terry was also the opening act of Cream's final US tour ). He told Page to check out Plant and Page when down to a club where Plant was playing ( with his band that included John Bonham ). Before the night was over, Page not only walked away with Plant but with Bonham as well. This was not the only time Terry turned down a prime gig. He was offered the role of lead singer for Deep Purple after they let Rod Evans go. Once again, due to a bitter situation with his manager ( who had a major hand in stalling Terry's career ), Terry suggested they check out a singer he knew, Ian Gillan. The rest is history
You just told my story. Google article said Reid turned down Zep. Who would do that? RUclips search brought me here. First time listening to this. Am so glad. I'm 51 2wks ago. Sound familiar?
Just watched DEVILS REGECTS & was instantly hooked on this song when it came on at the end of the movie . What a great song,, very sexual passionate.❤❤❤,
I wish I could tell my Terry Reid tale. But, it would probably not be believed. I will say this...he and his wife lived next door to my best friends and I lived kinda kitty corner from them on the beach. A long, long time ago! 💚🌟💃
I heard this first in 2019. I was captivated by his "River" album in 1973 and it took over 40 years to discover an album that came out 3 years later! Great song from a beautifully produced album.
Absolutely beautiful!!!! My new FAVOURITE song. Terry, you were born in the village I grew up in (Little Paxton). I am 49 and have only just discovered you - my heartfelt apologies for that. You have one of the finest, emotional and awe inspiring singing voices I have ever heard.... thank you so much for making this AMAZING song! x
I first hear of Terry Reid through The Replacements because he sang backup vocals on “Somebody Take the Wheel” from their last album All Shook Down. Their manager Peter Jesperson turned them onto him. Tommy Stinson told the story of Terry playing Mayfly for them in the studio and they all were in tears by the end. Huge talent that still sounds amazing (check out his Live in London cd) love to see you in south Florida Terry
I also was brought here by TDR movie. I really am disappointed that I went this long without having these great songs in my life. So thankful that I have them now!!
Just finding this voice of emotional delivery. November 2019 and a (new to me )guitar slinger/hero has just been introduced to my life.WoW Aloha from Hawaii
Does this song relate to today? As its happening in memories . Sown in the winds of change!!!!! Listen to the words its a timeless puff of smoke spiraling up from the ashes below!!!!!
I just read about a member of greta van fleet giving this man great praise. So he's right .What an immensely talented man. Where was this gem hiding. Wonderful voice. Also Am so inspired by Where Greta Van fleet is going. Music is Alive and well.
Such an awesome song play it in my car often.Of course I'm streaming it thru bluetooth.Great voice he was blessed with .During the 70s when I was growing up I think if you were a true follower of music in the US you knew his music.
The only thing the interweb is good for ....is bringing forth ( in my humble opinion) GEMS such as this ....a musical connoisseur by birth , by thoughts ......A man who did not sell his soul ! Now searching for his vinyl
Shout out to #Yelawolf for sampling Terry Reid. I thought i was one of the few ppl in the world who knew about him and his story. But Yelawolf just made an album based on his inspiration from Terry Reid.

I was trying to think of this song for years after I heard it on Devil's Rejects and yesterday I happened to research something and it lead me to the movie that I eas trying to figure out because I knew this song was on its soundtrack and it happened to be Devil's Rejects and owe how it was Destiny. After years without trying the song has met me half way to finding it without even trying.
I really loved this seed of memory but be my favorite song and the devil's rejects movie is one best horror thriller drama with a great soundtrack for years to come
He was Jimmy Pages first invite to join Zep as singer, but had commitments w/his project, asked to give him a few weeks. Page, impatient, didn't want to wait. This could have been Led Zeppelins lead...maybe "what is and what should never be", in past tense, of course. Think Terry could have taken them in his own way to the same heights? Dont know. But I really Love Terry's style...its so comforting.
I've got this feeling that no one really knows him or remember his music. I mean my ears never met his songs and especially his Name before this film....😐
I can't imagine had he taken Jimmy Pages offer to be Led Zeppelin's singer before JP asked Robert Plant. I can see why Jimmy wanted him but I'd say it all worked out. A little bit of hindsight regret for turning Jimmy down but it may have never been so probably not. Plant it turned out, was a good lyricist and women loved him 🤙
This may sound strange but everything I hear this song I think about Robert Matthews and the Order. There is a profoundly American countryside feel to this song. It is very good. Perhaps the ending of the Devil's Rejects has connected this song in my mind to controversial subjects.
@terryreid you were literally like, hell no I’m not signing with Led Zeppelin. That’s a boss move. I’m comparing you to Tom Waits. Almost a Sid Vicious move. More power to you.
I drove over 250 miles to his gig for this one song and it was worth every penny

In my mid 60's and just now finding this guy? How come this wasn't all over the radio? His vocals and this song kicks royal ass!
Brave dreams that are kindled from ashes
Rise out o'er the battle below
Spread wings over all that he passes
So his life can stay immortal to his country
Ah the shades of green that fall beneath this tree
So let the winds of change
That rearrange the country
Let also sow a seed of memory
Marlene in the cool satin sashes
Spread dreams with the battle below
Bring love with a song as she passes
So his life can stay immortal to the country
And let every man aware of being free
Mmm, when she talks of times when wine is handed to me
From a face that walked out of a memory
And now that the battle is done
And you wake up in the morning
With the sun up in the sky
Summer never gives you no warning then
Flowers are getting thrown up to cover the mud up on the line
Valleys getting greener and there's
Nothing but love on your mind
Brave dreams that are kindled from ashes
Rise out o'er the battle below
Spread wings over all that he passes
So his life can stay immortal to the country
The shades of the green that brought to me a victory
But the winds of change
They've rearranged this country
They also sow the seed of memory, yeah.
Let it always sow a seed of memory, yeah
Let it always sow the seed of memory, yeah
