You should do a livestream cuz you're almost 1 million subscribers
You should do a livestream because you're almost at 1 million subscribers
Now that's a lot of damage
Can you do a mythbusters type thing on rat guards that ships use on their anchor lines?
Looking at the thumbnail of this video im gonna say...no it wont stop them
The mice are saying "its beginning to look a lot like Christmas "
lol!
I prefer to sing "It's beginning to look a lot like Dustbowl."
😂😂😂😂😂🍺
Flipmas
They say that up until....
...the night before Christmas,
when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring,
not even a mouse
I went to Home Depot yesterday to look for a mousetrap for my basement. I didn’t realize how truly helpful this channel is. I knew exactly what to stay away from and what works. Thanks Shawn, love the channel!
Same here. I am in the mouse trap offerings section and saying nope...that does not work...nope, that one is faulty.. nope, tbis one got a major flip!! Shawn is an incredible asset. !!!
The funny thing is the majority of the products won't be intended to scam people - it's just no one but Shawn has the time, knowledge, and massive collection of wild mice to actually test them all.
The crazy stuff people come up with! Why would rope lights work? Thanks for confirming another myth Shawn! Can’t wait to see the next one
EZ's Boys My thoughts exactly. Makes you wonder who is smarter mice, rats or people?
Mark Fryer for sure
i mean, if the mice could detect the flashing LED frequency and were annoyed by it, it would make some sense to me. I know some cheap LED rope lights bother me like that in my peripheral vision.
Ion Ymous yeah but mice are so curious I think it’d take a lot more than a light to keep them away
remember: these people's kids are eating tide pods......now you know where they get it from!
They don't mind world's hottest pepper
And they don't mind Christmas too..
"Bah humbug!"
Utkatsh Sharma, 😂😂😂😂
*Does Christmas Repel Rodents?!*
_Bob McCoy Will Lisa confront that rodent?
@@mr.sneakunderyourbed2353 why not
With all those tasty Christmas cookies? They can't wait!
Shawn woods would confront the rodents
No only Jehovah witnesses...😇😇😇
Anyone else think years of natural selection in Shawn Woods barn has made rodents more trap savvy
I prefer that to poison immunity.... At least that is learned behavior
Then what are lab rats?
Rats, yes
I used to live out of an rv. I still belong to classic winnebagos and rv website. Those LEDs never worked for mice, rats, raccoons or even squirrels. Only traps and poisons worked with any REAL efficiency. Love the mythbusting!
Not feeding rodents usually works
@@DrLoverLover lol, right?
@@sweetsunnyvibes ??? Why would I put poisons outside? Roots outside are neutral territory to me. The second they invade my home or rv, they're treated as enemy combatants.
When Your kids see this You are going to be in trouble 😂😂
He's keeping this video away from his kids
It just helps them see what they are eating lol!
I think you were just looking for an excuse to toss the toys. lol
hahahahah
1k away from 1 mil. That's flipping awesome!!
Berkshire Girl flipping is what he does best
500 now, any hour now, there will be one million of us, people who don't have rodent problems, but watch anyway.
@@chipsdubbo4861 1 mil. Official. Way to go Shawn!!!
I think that I can speak for everyone who is subscribed to you that we love your videos and content so keep up the good work! :)
Indeed.
That being said, why else would we be subscribed?
Here in Sweden most old folks use juniper branches to keep mice away. Try that ot, please.
Mice will walk into a burning fire ring to get food. I've seen it. The lights might work to deter mice from randomly exploring an area, but if they smell food all bets are off.
yep mice are assholes
Have you ever personally seen/recorded any of your chickens going after the rodents themselves? I'm referring to one viral video that shows a cat watching a rodent, about to pounce, only for a chicken to run into frame and then run off with the rodent in its beak.
That was the most insane flip I've ever seen.
What a madlad.
The only issue i have is that the rats and mice feel safe already inside a structure. When they attempt to cross these lights outside they are usually attempting to access a safe interior structure. I highly recommend some sort of outside test. Not sure how you would do it but a structure like an rv is tempting for safety reasons for rodents, some toy cars with bait on them is not really the same concept. Love your videos btw!
Shawn, I think it depends on the species of mouse/rat. Here in AZ we have the nocturnal "packrat" (a type of woodrat) that frequent your cars and trucks and *love* to eat your wires and build nests inside. A well tested method to keep them out is a bright light under the hood.
Hello. Have you ever put a bright light under the hood of your car and does this method work?
Mice and rats: Oooooh year round Christmas party and a chance to win a bagel!
I saw what you did there. lol.
*AYY 1 MIL, CONGRATS!*
1000 subscribers to go Shawn. Congrats brother. I've been here since about 5K.
But wait, Winnie and Harvey get rescued by Woody and Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the gang. Toy Story 5! 😎
I love this channel. Your video style is awesome!
Love your channel and ideas!
Almost 1million subs Shawn!!
Hello Shawn, I was told the Fairy lights that actually blink on and off and look like motion will keep mice away. Will you confirm if you tried lights that have motion or blinking on, off will work at keeping mice away.
Omg so close to 1 mil
We have to see something EPIC Shawn
Boos and hiss are heard whenever the rat comes
You have a " Mr. Rogers" kind of way about you when you speak, which I think is one of your strong points. Really like your videos.
"Mouseter Rogers" 😂
Can u do one with lavender to see if lavender can really keep mice away ? With dif types of lavender products like flowers , oil , stalks
Hi Shawn. It’s supposed to be blinking the lights. It does work. Especially although mice are color blind certain colors do deter them. Also concentrated ginger essential oil not diluted mixed with clove essential oil also helps deter but for a certain amount of time.
I wonder if flashing lights would work. It would be best if they flashed randomly but you could start with normal flashing lights. If the results are promising I could cobble up a random flasher for you. Of course it would surely annoy humans but it might be ok for unoccupied ateas.
500 away from 1 MIL! Congrats Shawn!
That was a really fun video! Great job!
almost 1M subs there! Congrats
A million subscribers! Congratulations Mr. Woods!
Congrats on the 1 Million!
Shawn, your narrations put a big smile on my face.
Its Official.. Shawn Woods is over 1 mil. Congratulations Shawn!!!!!
Look at your subs! Congrats Shawn :D
1 million! I'm so happy for you!
You should have tried a mini-disco ball. It would either repel them or make them "do the Hustle".
Congratz 1 mil
Why are these vids so good? lol i love em!
Hey Shawn, great channel and thanks for all the great info. Wondering if you could test the honda rodent tape 4019-2317 would be interesting to see if it really works.
“Shhh don’t tell my kids I took their toys”😂😂😂❤️such a cool dad
@Shawn Woods I saw an ad for this thing called pest defender it supposedly sends out a high frequency that irritates pests like rats. I was wondering if it works.
Does that include the various light (Kelvin )frequencies, color combinations, and strobe/flashing?
VERY WELL DONE thumbnail !!! 1st rate work.
Congratulations on 1 million subscribers!
Anyone else get a Pest Repeller ad and find it ironic?
I did. Already proven to do nothing but separate people from their money.
Hilarious, talk about your target audience!
Me too! Hysterical
@@thomaslevy2119 as far as repelling insects, the jury is still out, but the part where it repels mice and ridents is a scam.
I wish I could "like" your comment multiple times.
999k subcribers holy cow! I remember when I subbed to you when you had 120k I didn't think many people would mouse trap videos like me.
What about the lights that change color every few seconds? Is that enough movement to scare vermin away?
Next silly Myth I heard a block of cheese will keep mice and rats away 😂😂 just noticed your Nearly at 1M subscribers well done and can’t wait for the 1M special video👍👍
Who the heck would think a rope lights would keep rats and mice away? I don't even need to watch this to know that won't work.
Peter Czekaj Makes you wonder about the thinking skills of some people or rather the lack of skills.
Congrats on the 1M!
So close to a million! I'm sure you will hit that today. Less than 1k to go right now!
We have seen where strobe lights are effective against mice. So how about setting the string lights to flash?
Almost a million subs gud job man
Wow almost 1 million subs! Keep it up!
You’re so close to 1 million subs congrats man
CONGRATULATIONS ON 1M SUBSCRIBERS!!!!!
What a channel. I’m a subscriber and faithful viewer and these myth busting videos never fail to make me laugh. It’s like an episode of Tom and Jerry!
Congrats on a million subs!!! 💕👍🏻
Happy 1 millon subscribers!!!
Your Chanel has entertained me for a while now. Lol, I thought I was the only one silly enough video mice getting trapped. I made my own trap because of your channel. I will send you a video when I get the auto trigger reset worked out. For now i just activate it by remote when the motion alarm beeps. 100% effective so far, I have not seen one get the bait and escape yet. Should work on rats also
congrats on hitting 1 million subscribers!
Lavender, catnip & peppermint try out those oils also kitty litter also works apparently
The question of light deterrence is still open for me since a barn or shed where they have previously infested seems different from an RV or vehicle that is transient and may not have the smell or familiarity. I am interested if permanently mounted under-chassis, and under hood lights would deter entrance and/or wire chewing of parked RVs and tow or towed vehicles. RV parks out west are recommending leaving the hood of your tow or towed vehicle up to deter rodents. If that works, why doesn't any light deter? Also, it looked in the video like they were specifically trying to get at bait inside the toy RVs. Is that true or this is just typical behavior? Is that different behavior than a mouse would exhibit when looking for a nesting place, like under the hood of a vehicle or closed spaces in RVs? Would under-vehicle and under hood lights deter them from climbing in to nest vs foraging for baited food? I dont know how a test would be done without multiple cameras, including IR or low light to capture and maybe calculate total time spent under a vehicle. And repeat on multiple days/nights with under-lights on and off successively. That also brings up another question: do rodents only invade during dark, or also during the day? Thanks for testing and producing these videos anyway!
Try out the Pest Repeller. I just got an ad about that. It apparently uses high frequency sound to keep pests away, permanently. Shawn try this out and put it to the test
I'm assuming they climb on the tires 1st.
I'm basing the following idea on how people keep spiders off the bed to not get bit.
Make sure the bed isn't against the wall, wrap each lower bed post or leg with tape...sticky side out.
I have been about this for awhile. ...Making sure your van is clear beneath and putting something around the tires.
CONGRATS FOR 1 MILLION SUBS!!!
Shawn, your comments section is one of the most inspired on RUclips. No wonder you are about the hit 1M subs.
Congrats on 1 million
Congrats to 1 Mio subs :)
Close to 1M My friend :)
I wonder if one of those sound pet deterrers like people use to keep dogs off furniture would keep away rodents?
This is crazy! We had horrible rat and mouse damage for a couple of years. Thousands of dollars in damage. Nothing ever worked. We have had rope lights down for six years. For that entire six years they have been 100% effective.
Hey Shawn nice video 👍🏽 but I have a question on why you didn’t try to strobe them ? I think you missed a good opportunity to test one of the best ideas out there to date. In the future could you try a Strobe light💡.. thanks for the video and keep up the good work
Looks like I'll need to get started on that motion-tracking Raspberry Pi powered airsoft sentry turret...
Congrats on 1 mill, sorry I'm late!
Omg you are so close to 1 million!!!!!
Almost a million, keep it strong 💪💪
At least those LED rope lights aren't wasted they can still be used for night videoing (until the rats or mice eat them).
Congrats on the 1 million!!!!!!!!!
Almost 1 mil subs!!
He's so savage, he gave his kids' toys a flip
Congratulations Shawn on the ONE MILLION Sub mark.
Is there a difference between established mice eating in a location and moving in? I mean, given two side by side barns to move in to, maybe they wouldn't choose the one with soap, dryer sheets, carolina reapers, mothballs, wolf urine, annoying frequency LED rope light, or whatever because the other barn is more tolerable. At a minimum maybe you could test in your already infested barn but with a side by side choice of repellent food and repellent free food.
Do you have this many mice in your home. Or do you just buy them and set up a scene and contain them somehow like a gate around the scene
I haven't watched the video yet but the thumbnail suggests the answer to the title is "no" 😂 love your videos though Shawn, keep it up
congratz 1mil
I love the empirical approach however I think you should try some better lights. Specifically, it would be really interesting if you got the patterned gaming LED strips that make it appear a bed of light is cycling around a circuit.
Love the short and interesting videos. Just curious if all of your "mythbuster" results would change if you didn't have a plentiful supply of food just beyond the barrier. I think the natural desire to eat and ready food supply will trump any of their hesitation to overcome the obstacle. How about trying to put the food a long distance away and then put the mothballs, peppermint, irish spring, etc in front of their access holes. If there was a maze with a blocked path and an open path where they had to choose to go this might provide a different result. Look forward to the results.
Rats did $7k worth of damage to the electrical system in my car. They also chewed up the soundproofing material. Thank goodness for comprehensive coverage.
HEY SHAWN´s KIDS !! LISTEN ! HE GOT YOUR TOYS !!!
Very interesting video!
Shawn, has anyone suggested using 10% Ammonia as a rodent repellent? I had a problem with mice and red squirrels getting in my camper this past winter, and a friend (who has a PhD in Chemistry) suggested trying the "Janitorial Strength" Ammonia available at Ace Hardware. When I winterized it this fall, I placed a few containers in areas where I found nests last year. Hoping that it does the trick!
P.S. You have already demonstrated that our previous attempts, i.e. dryer sheets, peppermint oil, moth balls...have done nothing but keep it from smelling too musty. All the best!
Interesting. Thanks for testing that. I'd always heard you need to use a strobe/flash to drive them away. That would be a good test too to see if that's a myth or effective at all.
