Hey Tori. Thank you thank you thank you. I've watched you from the start and seen your strength and vulnerability... I lost my border collie of 14 years yesterday totally out of the blue. I'm a mess but watching you knowing what you've been through has made.me realise I can do the same... It's not going to be easy and why should it be? Thank you Tori. Love Davidx

So sorry to hear of your loss, David. I know how utterly devastating it is, and of course you have a lot of very painful grieving ahead of you. When I lost a greyhound suddenly nearly six years ago, writing down lots of my favourite memories and even making a list of all the places we went to helped me a little in the first few days. Collies are lovely dogs. Cherish the happy memories.

I've done that walk, and it's a hard slog, but if you take your time, it's not too bad. It's probably less than an hours walk with no rest stops, and a pub at walks end.
Don't know if you realise, but you arent far from making it over the top to Borrowdale - and you can wild camp anywhere from the tarn over till you reach the other valley. It makes a nice weekend to walk from Ambleside to Langdale to Keswick and get the bus back.

Seasoned fell walkers seem to develop a particular set of muscles which make it easier for them. I've done a lot of fell walking in the Lakes but never regarded myself as particularly fit. Anyway well done for a first try, although it has to be said that for most climbers Stickle Tarn is just a spot on the way up to Pavey Ark or Harrison Stickle overlooking the tarn. By the way that diagonal cut across the face of Pavey Ark is called Jake's rake, and it is (just about) climbable by fell walkers with a bit of a scramble in places. I've done it once when I was much younger, but never again! If you enjoy the views and achievement from the tarn then your next outing has to be a fell or two. The views up top are magnificent, and once up there you can often find ridge walks connecting to adjacent fells. Grab yourself one of the Wainright books, read up on an ascent the night before, and you'll not regret it.

    • @missnancysdayoff
      @missnancysdayoff  Месяц назад

I’m sure that’s true, hopefully mine will develop! ha thank you but try not to make me feel bad hey, I didn’t really have time for the extended version 🫣 I absolutely agree though some longer walks like that will be absolutely perfect. It's a very steep climb but worth it. Sitting at the top with the view down the valley and sound of water rushing is so therapeutic. At side of the tarn is Jack's Rake , a scary scramble up to the very top of one of the Langdale Pikes.Great Langdale is stunning . Lingmoor opposite to the right of your Windermere view is fabulous and Side pike below it with Fat man's agony to squeeze through is fun ! Was there last Sunday .

Do be careful. I wrecked my health by doing this . The bugs in the water , especially water's edge can be really dodgy .. and bare legs through bracken are sooo yummy for ticks with lyme disease. I loved my years of wild swims and wild walks but realise I actually got sick very early on from it. Many of us did I'm afraid. There's a reason other cultures look after their women so carefully like ours used to.

I was there a few days ago - a real lung buster of a climb. I was half hauled up there by my beastie and we also lost the path near the top. As for microcloth towels - I find they just smear the water around and instead I now use a 'sph20nge' cloth - far more versatile and really does the job and works even better when wet. Now just climbed The Cobbler (Scotland) and headed South in the morning. It's been an amazing week for weather - although still had a couple of rain storms.

    I drink a lot before I start, I pee loads then😂
Little bit harder for girls I know.
I'm always weeing on the mountain😁

Hi, Tori. Hope all is well. I used to go on some adventures which we had to study the geography and wildlife, and be really prepared for potential emergencies, especially with the wildlife. There were a number of life-threatening animals, such as venomous snakes, apex animals, and many others. I lived in England a while back, but I never encountered wildlife, except for foxes. However, I didn't expect to see wildlife other than wild humans while living in London.
What dangerous or apex wildlife one might encounter in the UK and where?
Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay happy!

hi Pops! yes one of the good things about being in the UK is that there isn’t really much danger from wild animals. infact i would say say humans are the main problem and they are much worse in cities. we do have adders, but as long as you don’t tread on one it’s all good. it’s quite nice to be able to walk without worrying about bears and mountain lions! x

Hey Tori, i cant quite believe you swam in Stickle Tarn, - must have been freezing! You're so brave, i wouldn't have fancied it.
The hill behind Stickle Tarn is Pavey Ark, if you're ever back there you can get to the top with a great scramble going from the bottom right to top left, called Jack's Rake. You dont need to be much of a climber to do it, just fairly fit and flexible. You will feel like a true mountaineer while doing it though!

I know it's hard to move on sometimes, but here something you might do.... Find a wee place in your heart, lay a brand new blanket down with her favorite toy and maybe her dish. Bring her over and lay her on the blanket and scratch her behind the ear and kiss her on the forhead. And leave her there in that safe and endearing place. Now for the rest of you life, she will be right there in your heart. You can check in on her anytime and give her your love. And forever you will find her popping up in your dreams and having fun with you for a short while and then you can go on with your life with confidance that she's always there with you. 😊😘😎🐕‍🦺🐶. There she is, my favourite travelling girl🙂❤..........Good to see ya sweetheart!!
Well, what a climb, that certainly blew the cobwebs away!
Did you know it would quite that challenging?. Well done you for getting up there Tori. I suppose once you've got so far, you've got to keep going really. A thousand feet up and I fully expected some random old guy walking his dog to come by just as you got into the water, and stopping to talk........they get everywhere! 😄😄.
I have to admit, being born a city boy (originally from London), i'm not nearly as 'countrified' as i'd like to be, although I've lived in Sth. Wales now for years, and there's plenty of lovely places to see, i'm always afraid of getting lost if i venture too far.......going on these fab walks with you though babe, is the next best thing. I'm trying to get as many tips from you as i can, maybe that'll give me the courage to get out and try it.
Seeing those sheep up there, miles from anywhere, makes me wonder how the farmer finds them all! Or does he just leave them to wander the mountains forever? Never knowing where they are and never seeing them again lol 😃..........Do you remember in the news, (i think it was last year), they had to rescue that sheep from the bottom of a cliff? They reckon it had been stranded there for TWO YEARS!!!
Have you been on the road all this time Tori? Or do you go home in between videos?.........I think i could go a few days living in a car, then i'd need some home comforts before setting out again, not to mention a break from 'outdoors' due to this blooming anxiety!! I'd also imagine you'd have to catch up on your sleep too sweetheart. As you say, the car isn't the most comfortable.
Once you get the packing of your car down to a fine art, you can video how you do it like we said....................then its off to "Skoda Yeti world" for me to buy one. I can just see me in one of those hahaha 😄.
How did you get into making your own jewellery Tori, its beautiful, and how long have you been doing it? I know you're very arty anyway and you can draw too.
What did you do for a living before that? Yeah, i know i'm nosey, but there's some things you just have to ask lol.......... If i had to guess, i'd say you were a Secretary for a law firm!?? (although i can't see you stuck in an office all day).

you wont get lost! take an OS map with you, i love them. it’s so fun exploring. the sheep were incredible, the filming i did was obvs awful as they were far away but I couldn’t belive they were climbing down that cliffface, and why?! i did not see tnat 2 years, must have been plenty of grass downt her then maybe it didn’t want to be rescued 😅
well i don’t have a home persay at the moment so staying in various places between adventures friends family etc. not all in the car though by any means not t the moment. I think it’s nice as you say to go adventure, then go home for some rest and shower and washing before doing another one! Skoda YetiWorld wow is that a theme park?im going!
well i just always wanted to make jewellery so i took a course some years ago and went from there. I’ve always made things, I actually have a degree in shoe making! before i made scarves, babies clothes, worked various jobs in admin, gardening, pubs interior decorating, mixed bag! secretary for laws firm 😂 I don’t think so!

Do you miss not having your own place? Is it through choice?....Having friends and family spread out over the country, means you're never too far from a shower and washing machine though 😃😃, as well as company. Plus you can travel to all these different places and make videos, which really suits your lifestyle right now.
Hmmmmm, a Skoda Yeti theme park hahaha, now wouldn't that be something..........I doubt it'd get many visitors though, just you and me probably 😄.
