Hey Jon! Good video. I do have a few comments though. I've been running Humminbirds for years and their Waypoint management approach via Groups, making Groups visible or not visible, etc is far advanced from Garmin however exporting WPs via an area is a start. When you do an export in Humminbird the statistics are displayed, i.e. how many WPs, tracks, groups, etc were exported. As a validation step, I use EasyXML to read the GPX no matter if created by HB or Garmin and I validate that if I had 200 WPs on the Unit, EasyXML reads the GPX and validates there are 200 WPs. The last thing I would do is delete WPs from the unit before I have them exported, copied to my laptop and verified everything was successful in the transfer. One last thought on HB groups, I break my WPs down in a number of Groups for a single lake. For instance, I have a Group for Spring2020, Spring2021, Winter2020, Winter 2021, etc. That way I just make the 'Spring' Groups visible in the Spring, Winter Groups visible in the Winter, minimize the clutter. I'm sure Garmin will enhance their WPs management approach over time.

So after I setup all my lakes as files like was done in the video. I load them back on the unit, go fishing, add more waypoints, then what should I do?
Can I just take that same lake "area" and override the file that was there before?
Once you put them back on the unit do you have to do step one again and put them back on the card and delete from unit
I like the portable carrier for your FFS and battery setup. How can I get one? Commercially available or is it DIY? If so can I get plans to make one? I enjoy your RUclips videos. Thanks!
