In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
I couldn’t be more impressed with the quality of your teaching and video. I’m glad to be part of a growing group of people that benefits from your videos.
Great tutorial but as a UT tech I would suggest that when you return to your target at 800kHz turning up your gain (brightness) The difference from 455 to 800 is like AM and FM. At 800 your wavelength is two times tighter meaning you have twice the resolution BUT you are also loosing a lot more signal strength on the return. An example of the angles you're talking about; at 400khz your beam width is 46 degrees. At 800khz it is 28 degrees. You can also see much further at the lower frequency, at 400 you can see about 150 meters and at 800 about 75 meters BUT, at 400 your resolution is 2.3 cm while at the higher frequency it is 1 cm. What you're looking for is finding that gain (brightness) where the 800 just begins to get blurry again then back it down just a bit.
Thanks, you are the first one to comment on the lack of good Garmin info. Bought our unit 18 months ago and finally seeing some useful videos to help max the value of the unit.
I agree with auto medium for the Garmin settings. First I tried specific settings but auto ended up working better. I’m using Garmin echomap plus 93 sv.
great job easy to understand for a none english speaker. I have got a gpsmap 7412XSV on my boat conectected with a gt50 transducer and a panoptix livescope
Great video. The wind you complained about looked pretty tame compared to what I’m used to up here on Lake Winnebago and the Great Lakes... the video content was excellent other than complaints of the conditions we anglers endure EVERY time out. Keep it up! The tips video was appreciated! Awesome explanation. Thanks!
Thank you for the info you did a great job explaining the system and how it works. I just got a 93sv and a total nob but you made sense of it for me thank you
that was a really good video. I have a echomao 93plus and still learning, I hoping that one day you could show a video on contour line and finding main lake and secondary points and catching largemouth bass. I live in east Texas and that mainly where I fish
Great tips Brian. There are so many options out there it's nice to see that you don't need to break the bank or a computer science degree to get good results from your electronics. Planning on stopping by the booth on Saturday.
Love the tips video mate, so keep them up. I just got the Garmin Striker 7SV so your information is perfect for me. Would love to see some more vids on interpretation of the screen images especially identifying smaller fish on side view. I see plenty of vids on big fish that are quite apparent on WideVu / Sideview screens but no one seems to want to demonstrate their skill sets to show / teach us what smaller fish (ie 12 - 18”) look like on side view etc. Well, there is one guy but he charges a lot for his courses (based in Australia) to learn but no one else is doing it on YT! Thanks for the brilliant vid though Brian. Paul 😎
Thanks for making this video and sharing it. I just ordered the echomap plus 73sv. Since you do all your scanning from the hull does that mean when you see something you want to fish you turn your boat around or cast behind you? Once a waypoint is marked, do you use the map to turn back around? The next step is what do you use to catch the diff fish. =)
What did you use (equipment) to connect your motorguide to the 93sv to use the built in skimmer? I’ve got the same XI5 and want to connect to my garmin but I’m not sure how to connect them. Thanks man. Great video.
Very informative video thank you. I have the same Garmin units that you have I believe. Haven't had them on the water yet though. Do you see fish well on your side imaging? Is there a big difference seeing fish with 455 as compared to the 800khz? Thank you.
GOOD INFORMATION! I understand your logic re 2 D only on the TM BUT BUT can a 3 in 1 ( GT 54 ) transducer be of feasible benefit to locate stumps & other hard structures, waypoint them, & then multi - screen , use 2D & only 1 93 SV on the bow? Po Boy intro into modern technology! Just asking! LOL
Ok, so you have to go in your settings to change back and forth the khz to find the locations? I see stuff all the time but I can't seem to bump it and find it. How do you hit the boulder you see on your fishfinder to know if it's on the left or right side of your boat when you already scanned over it and it's behind you?
Do a video showing pods of walleye on sidevu so I know wat I'm looking for would really appreciate it theres lots out there on hummingbird but none on echoma plus
Thanks Brian! I'm wondering about your opinion of the Garmin Panoptix, especially since you don't have one. I feel like you might not have as strong a bias as someone who might feel like they might have to justify the high cost of it to their fishing buddies and their wives :)
noyopacific it’s a lot more practical for me to be able to recommend affordable electronics for anglers who may not fish every day and can’t justify a 2-3k purchase. It’s fun to show them we can have almost the same success by using traditional sonar
Great video, I just got 2 new Echomap plus 73sv w/gt52 t-ducer units wired up on my 17ft. deep-v, can't wait on the weather to break here in East Tn. so I can get them on the water. I am new to fishfinder/sonars, If I need advice can I contact you? Thanks for sharing.
Since you have a xi5 hooked up to your Garmin got a question for you. Will your trolling motor take you to your waypoints on your fish finder. Looming to buy a new trolling motor and a Garmin fish finder
Would you recommend the Garmin Echomap for deeper water, ex: up to 250 fow? Im considering a new Garmin Echomap UHD 95sv, but will also be using it for deeper lakes/trolling. Thank you
Boat speed affects the return on down/side scan? I have a jon boat with only one unit up front and I've been wondering why I don't seem to get a very good return unless I'm really shallow.
I have a question I have a garmin 73sv plus and when I'm on my reg sonar or down scan or side scan it has the nav position and infor located at the top of the screen using screen space how do u remove that
Great videos. I have been vewing your videos since last spring. iBought my first boat and Garmin 93sv+ last year. Fish Smithville Lake in KCMO most of the time. Still having trouble with Clear Vue and Side Vue and understanding what I am seeing. I am having Livescope installed early next week. Friend also just bought a 93sv+ yesterday and we went out today and were trying to dial in his settings. We are both having trouble understanding what we are seeing with both ClearVue and Standard CHIRP sonar. We have UHD 54 transducers. We are willing to pay you to come to Smithville on our boats to give us some help. Can you give us a private reply with quotes? Thanks.
@@KansasAnglingExperience I saw somewhere your fee is $200 for 2 hours. That is cool. I'm 45 minutes from Lawrence so I should bring my boat with my Garmin stuff. Thank you.
great video. very informative. i’m wondering if it is even worth it to buy the new 93 UHD to have 1.2khz for side vu if you find its better to use the 455 instead of 800. the new 93uhd is like $400 more than the one with the gt52. what are your thoughts?
I dont have the plus unit so i dont have the teardrop icon to mark a waypoint. And when i have the cursor over something on side scan and hit mark it marks where the boat is not where the cursor is. So how do i get it to mark where the cursor is??? Great video by the way!!
Great video, helped me big time, I have another question I need some help with my new Garmin Echo Plus 93sv, I troll for trout, kokanee, and land locked king salmon in Nor Cal lakes. Friday while trolling with my four down riggers, I noticed fish on my sonar in Trad view at 30' so lower down my downrigger weight to 30' on the counter. Look at the Garmin screen and my see my weight at 35'. So the depth is off by like 5'. I have a Furuno also in the rear of the boat and it too was off by about 3'. Found in the Fruno menu "draft" by hitting plus or minus feet you make the downrigger wt. appear at the same place on the sonar screen. My question is, how to make this depth adjustment to my new Garmin can you please help me
They say the black zone is directly below boat so if bottom starts showing at 20feet to right and left on screen and fish show up at 40feet to right on range are they actually 40 feet away ?? Pretty confusing
Wondering what adapter cable you used to go from your xi5 to your 93sv plus? I have the same setup but having bad interference using the Garmin transducer on the TM.
