  • The Mean Green Mauler. The legendary RC tank. Created by the master craftsmen at Joe Mauler works. This is one of the coolest gifts I've ever received and I just love grabbing it off the shelf and running it around for a few minutes. Thanks Joe.

Your videos inspire me to continue my hobby of military toy collecting and modifying them. I wish I had the innovation and skills you have when I was younger.

Man, I love the way those road wheels go up and down as it navigates obstacles. Much better mobility than the stiff ones we actually got. That storage rack on the back is another much needed addition.

Yeah so many custom touches. The rack is really fun for adding extra figures or holding backpacks. Joe Mauler is a real craftsman.

It'd be amazing if they did a Fridge. They did Slaughter so the Fridge seems possible.

Might need to add support rollers.

So far she runs great. I think Joe Mauler was looking at old school Russian tanks like the T-34 for inspiration.

I have some Maulers with return rollers. It makes no difference on the functionality of the toy. In real life it does, since the humans inside suffer from the clanking of the metal tracks against the metal hull.

Wow. I forgot about this one. It still runs… did you repaint it? True camo green. Must be the light from your skies. Looks great. The best combo motor/ suspension mauler I ever built. 👍👍

It's a beautiful machine. I never even think about if it'll work or not. And it's so fun to fill the basket and hatches with figs. After making this video I printed out your gun support design and then painted the green end of the barrel. I think the barrel was from a Lynx and had a more limey green. The suspension is buttery smooth!

@@ActionRobotPunch great Mauler combo! You might want to measure these springs someday, ( wire thickness ) so we could post the MCMaster part number to all. I think the suspension is on point when it dives upon deceleration, and squats upon acceleration.

What I don't get is back in the 80's their excuse was it would make it too expensive for the average person to buy for their kid.
The prices are down for the manufacturing of these motorized parts now and prices for toys are way up.... so whats the hold up toy making companies... RIGHT ??
I guess they are tired of making money...

I think there's also a lack of interest in these actually functioning as toys. It's mostly older collectors buying Gi Joe and they just put their figures on a shelf and never touch them. I've found there's not all that much interest in the RC vehicles for o-ring but if I made a classified Armadillo people would be head over heels to get one to put on their shelf, even if the wheels didn't spin. I think it's just a changing market but just my guess form seeing the real toys from Star Wars that my kid plays with vs the Gi Joe stuff.

    • @gidad7213
      @gidad7213 Год назад

I think that you are right. G.I. Joe lost its popularity and is a favorite only for older collectors. The 5-inch figures, with all the details, seem to be a hit with the generation that bought the 25th anniversary figures. But I think the best part of G.I. Joe was still the vehicles and the fact the figures fit inside. 5 inch figures and vehicles for them. What a nightmare. I saw a guy building and selling 5 inch scale sky striker. They were as big as the Flagg.
Articulation was a race with Star Wars, too, but how far can you go without making it too complicated for kids and too fragile to last. Maybe a new line with a new cartoon would do well. Clone wars helped the toy sales for sure. They have to be heroes, not renegades or too dark for the kids. Lots of people knew what was great and what they liked. They will figure it out again. I am sure.
I know what I would like to see as an adult collector, and that is the figures and vehicles that were never made from the 80s cartoon. Super7 made some really cool figures, but with less articulation, you know, but I have to build my own vehicles and dioramas. I love your RC modified versions, and I'm sure others would too. As far as a new product goes, I feel if they go with only the 5 inch, they miss out on the other half of the collector market. It probably is smaller, but it could grow. There's interest still, I think. It has to be consistent. I mean it's a good size for kids and you can make weapons and vehicle's they can fit with. They didn't even try to market them. The sky strikers were never in stores. The figures were deliberately made to stink to prove the 5 inch were better. Heck, they were trying to keep their 5 inch line. I don't blame them. I just can't fathom buying a $55 figure. How do they even sell.
A small second 3 3/4 inch line would hold its own and has so many possibilities. It has to go back to that size sometime. If you want it to be for the kids again. Best get started so you are ready for a release with a good foundation after the 5 inch loses steam. And they will.
Nice talking with you. I'm passionate about this if you couldn't tell. I have a child development background and a drafting degree plus manage two businesses, but G.I.Joe is where my passion is. I think the kids deserve the fun we had. I want to make it happen for them.
      Yo Joe!

FYI to Hasbro Star wars went back to 3 3/4" figures and combined with the new shows on the Disney channel they have made a new line that the kids are buying. And have NO competition because Hasbro is too busy selling 5 inch figures to 40 year olds....
