Charge while playing with a 1 amp usb plug instead of the 2.4 amps usb plug that comes with the go. That will charge the battery much slower with less heat.
The Oculus Go battery is one single 18650, who should always be on a 2.4A charger/passthrough.. that's why Oculus doesn't recommend to use passthrough, as to warn off people hooking it up to chargers that doesn't meet the battery specs. By using a 1.2/1.5 This will damage your battery a lot... because these bats are 'high drain'. I've been using 18650 batteries for years and tried many chargers, taking them apart and comparing charging states to different brands for my Electronic Cigarettes hobby. Just use the 2.4A, just not all the time in order to give the bat a rest from the constant strain that a passthrough produce. Best to use when fully charged to avoid diminishing the life cycle of the battery. Do not use passthrough when battery is below 70% (to extend their life). A simple google search on 18650's (2600 mAh which is the one Oculus Go has) will corroborate this.
There is no pass through on the Oculus Go, and I did not intend to do that. I am lost here, why it should always be on 2.5, charging a battery faster with more amps will reduce battery life and increase the heat while charging. Do you agree that pluging a 1.0 amps usb plug while playing on the Go will extend cession duration from 2 to 3 hours without any problems to the battery instead of playing while charging at 2.4 witch will cause a lot of heat?
Good to know. In the US, Oculus Go comes with a charger block. All other countries just get the cable. Since the battery isn't replaceable, I think great care should be placed in how you recharge the system. That's a hidden "Gotcha" waiting to happen. Much appreciated Omar!
Thanks... ohh and btw; there is a post from Palmer Luckey disassembling the Oculus Go showing that YOU CAN replace the battery but as usual, it voids warranty and seems very daunting, still the battery for the Oculus go is an IMR 2600 mAh at 3.7 volts, so calculating it's 3 hours runtime is: 2600 capacity, minus 605 mAh device consumption rate per hour, plus runtime consumption rate of 0.7 = 3.0082644628 estimated hours, so replacing the battery to a one IMR 3500 mAh using the same consumption rates means a whopping 5.78 hours on one charge, who realistically could mean 4.70-ish hours, though I am assuming the consumption rates since Oculus haven't released those yet... that I know of. I am playing with consumption rate numbers a bit, but when it comes to these bats these doesn't seem that far off. There is a more articulate article here(see below for link) incompasing Thermal and low power state of the Oculus Go to achieve a balance on performance on a dated Snapdragon 821 processor. The article points out that even if your new phone has newer tech, it doesn't match Oculus Go performance. crazy that just in 2 years the Go went from being the first standalone VR headset to being obsolete and talked about as if it doesn't count anymore. The Quest really owes its existence to the Go though
So true,I remember wanting one so bad and now I have a quest 2 and disregard the go lol I might buy it for the kids to play with it's inexpensive so if it breaks it won't be so heartbreaking.
I’m very interested in buying the Go for myself. I am a hardcore gamer, but I’m fairly certain that for this year’s Christmas, my whole family is gonna pitch in to buy me a Rift, so I thought that buying the Go for myself would be perfect. I can already imagine laying in my bed all snuggled up in a blanket watching RUclips and Netflix with full immersion. That’s the life right there.

NBW Elmo the quest 2 is much better for media viewing. The screen quality is miles better so there is barely any screen door effect. You also don’t need to use the controllers since it has hand tracking.
@@ginnis_14 Having to use a Facebook account is problematic though. Everyone knows who you are and can track you back to your account. I don't recommend using media on Oculus Quest 2. Or anything with multiple players for that matter.
Not only a great video Mike, but as such an amateur creator, I have to say that I'm EXTREMELY impressed with the editing in this one. Careful Mike, or I might just have to call you a PRO xD. So glad you have the time now after going full time, to bring us these great tutorials / guides / more personal video's as well as your great game-playing ones as well. I've been telling as many people as I can about your fantastic "Beat Saber" video........ hope you'll be bringing on 15-20k subs soon, Mike.
I've had my Go for about a year. It's getting a lot more use now in these times of social distancing, stay-at-home life. Not for games, so much, like you said, but I do like to go on RUclips and other 360 players where you will find plenty of 360 videos: mostly travel and cultural. One comment about set-up: mine would not set-up until I charged it overnight first. Then it was easy.
Why didn’t you wait for the quest to come out. There the same thing except the quest you can play games it has two controllers which are much like the rift controllers and you have 6 degrees of freedom
Yes mate. I have more time not to spend on videos so I want to make them look more professional. I enjoyed the transitions from screen to me moving around and getting the parcel. That was really fun []-)
I think you did a very good job without the need of editing. You give us a lot of information within one take. Like the unboxing, setup and remove the inner part to show the lenses. So smooth and easy to understand.
If they allow oculus go to use as a steam vr device, or some company like riftcat figures out a way to do so, and that would be truly amazing and bring the full vr experience to a cheap price
So you can stream your desktop which means any steam game is playable in the headset using Bigscreen. It's locked to 30fps right now but improvements are coming soon! []-)
I guess, if more people around me would have one and would use it like everyday media I could enjoy it as well. But as long as I'm pretty much the only one who got a VR Headset except one friend, it's kinda hard to enjoy the full VR-social-experiance. I'd love to do more VR stuff with friends. I had the most fun with this one friend in VR while we were using Facebook spaces (months ago) just by hanging out there, chatting and showing stuff from the internet. Oculus Go? Push it with Multiplayer Games (like strategy games or something like that) and ability to watch movies together (using Netflix together would be awesome. Like Google Handouts with RUclips) and it will be good to go for the future
Virtual Reality Oasis but is the latency low enough and the picture quality good enough to have fun with it? As I understood, you stream your screen to your mates, don‘t you?
Now if only the Real Oasis can be made for this. Aside from the dystopian future of Ready Player One, the mobile VR Set with Full Body Tracking and a intricate VR World for everyone is something we should strive for. The future is almost here, people.
Virtual Reality Oasis let’s not forget the full body scanner. One sensor you put on your neck region to scan your face for a sort of login and the scanner tracks your every move. Vive got something right but now we need to reduce how much hardware is used to track our real life movements. That’s where the Kinect came in, but the Kinect would lag and that’s not fluent in full body tracking.
Oculus Go came out the day before I went in for 5 day’s at the hospital. Tried to load as much content in that first day. Unfortunately it didn’t work too well with both Xfinity and the hospitals internet needing a two stage authorization to work, which the oculus go couldn’t seen to do. So, now I can’t wait to get home for 6 weeks of recouping watching PLEX VR. One other thing that isn’t great is the options for audio. It doesn’t seem to offer Bluetooth connectivity. I hope third party vendors offer some options soon.
I have enjoyed my Go so far since getting it, only downer I found is Oculus Rooms isn't cross compatible with Rift. My friend joined a party with me on his Rift but couldn't access my Room to play games with me. Not as deal breaker by any means but would have been cool to be able to sync up with my ever small friends list on Rift to interact on the Go.
your right oculus rooms was amazing until oculus decided to pull the plug on it leaving no get together app on the platform there excuse was that they where going to release facebook horizons on the go but now customers are just angry and totally ticked off
I ordered mine yestarday. It ships from Ireland so I'll have to wait. I already own a Gear VR wich I use for watching movies on Netflix. Your video is fantastic!
I'm still playing my PS3 , was going to upgrade either to a PS4 or my phone to play Vr, but occulus go is cheap as chips, as a casual gamer who watches heaps of movies I thinks its a great idea. Bidding on one now on eBay.
Great editing Mike. You convinced me to check and BestBuy chain store here in California has the Oculus Go so I jumped down there and picked one up. Absolutely love it! Thanks for the motivation!
I think I'll give it a try, I have a Vive and PSVR but I hate cables (considering getting tpcast for my vive) but this seems an ideal portable alternative
Great Work ! i really like your video Oasis and i really like oculus go rather than anyother vr device as i will buy this very soon ...onething i really need to say watching movie in vr specially in cinevr app was a great experience and a immersive treat if cinevr creator could install some app like youtube, netflix etc in cinevr app could be more immersive bcoz watching netflix series in theatre with spatial sound will add some mindblowing experience.
Hey Mike, this was almost 2 years ago... what's your view on this now? Would you still recommend this as a neat standalone to watch Netflix and all, or are there other, maybe better alternatives? And which storage would you advise?
Quest is the way to go now if you’re buying a standalone headset but the Go is great if you just want to watch movie content and you’re not that interested in games []-)
@@VirtualRealityOasis I already have the Rift S, but that needs to be hooked up to a computer. Thought maybe the Go was a nice cheap alternative like you mentioned to take with me on travels.
Hello Mike great unboxing and set up video for the oculus go I would deftly like to see the video of you rowdy guy anda nathie using oculus rooms with that experiences like in the future have a great day. I do not know what I would do right now because, there are some cool experiences on both the rift and in the goal because, I do watch a movie a movie or TV show every once in a while but I am also a hard-core gamer. Most likely I would go with the oculus rift but I can definitely see a use case where am I want to use a go thanks again Mike. Have a good afternoon
I have PSVR, Rift, Asus MR and now Oculus Go. The flight simulators and games on the Go are so amazing (above PSVR and just below MR) I would not have bought a VR PC nor PSVR.
Utrawings has true simulator physic (if you activate it in the option) and is very comparable to other flight sim in term of physic, it is just more fun. DCS is just dogfight, nothing else to do.
I bought this hoping to be an upgrade of my VR Gear, it is not. No dioptric adjustment, worse light bleed, less viewing angle and heavier. Plus you have to pair it with a phone to even make it work at the start. Beware, the 32GB version only has 22GB of usable memory. Speakers were excellent though.

Thanks for the info Heaney! Are you Heaney555 from Reddit? []-)
IM WATCHING THIS IN OCULUS BROWSER ON THE GO XD
Why am I watching this I have a quest 2
Now if only the Real Oasis can be made for this. Aside from the dystopian future of Ready Player One, the mobile VR Set with Full Body Tracking and a intricate VR World for everyone is something we should strive for. The future is almost here, people.
We're almost there! I just want a haptic suit and an omni directional treadmill []-)
Virtual Reality Oasis likewise likewise
Virtual Reality Oasis let’s not forget the full body scanner. One sensor you put on your neck region to scan your face for a sort of login and the scanner tracks your every move. Vive got something right but now we need to reduce how much hardware is used to track our real life movements. That’s where the Kinect came in, but the Kinect would lag and that’s not fluent in full body tracking.
goes from a cool room that looks like its from the future to normal house
OMG I HAVE THE SAME DOORBELL RING AS YOU LIKE EXACTLY LOLL
Oculus Go came out the day before I went in for 5 day’s at the hospital. Tried to load as much content in that first day. Unfortunately it didn’t work too well with both Xfinity and the hospitals internet needing a two stage authorization to work, which the oculus go couldn’t seen to do. So, now I can’t wait to get home for 6 weeks of recouping watching PLEX VR.
One other thing that isn’t great is the options for audio. It doesn’t seem to offer Bluetooth connectivity. I hope third party vendors offer some options soon.
You could plug in some headphones or use a bluetooth headphone jack adapter ;)
I have enjoyed my Go so far since getting it, only downer I found is Oculus Rooms isn't cross compatible with Rift. My friend joined a party with me on his Rift but couldn't access my Room to play games with me. Not as deal breaker by any means but would have been cool to be able to sync up with my ever small friends list on Rift to interact on the Go.
Yeah, it does seem weird that Oculus Rooms is exclusive to the Go right now []-)
That's cause Rift users can't even do that yet.
has anyone notice that every VR headset always looks like it fits him perfectly XD
This is the dumbest comment I've ever seen in my life
well am surely looking forward to get one
Enjoy Abdulkarim []-)
your right oculus rooms was amazing until oculus decided to pull the plug on it leaving no get together app on the platform there excuse was that they where going to release facebook horizons on the go but now customers are just angry and totally ticked off
Mine already arrived I just have to wait a couple days til my birthday is here to open it 😊👍
First minute in and I already love the editing
I ordered mine yestarday. It ships from Ireland so I'll have to wait. I already own a Gear VR wich I use for watching movies on Netflix. Your video is fantastic!
Thanks Sergio. Mine shipped from the Netherlands. Watching movies in Netflix or Bigscreen is going to be great []-)
you mean it ships from usa to ireland
Awesome video and editing just wow
Cheers []-)
I really enjoyed this review, thank you. Have a 64 gig on the way. Followed.
Boom! Nice one Ken! Enjoy it mate []-)

Thx :)
im commenting on the oculus go
Saving up 4 an oculus quest
I'm still playing my PS3 , was going to upgrade either to a PS4 or my phone to play Vr, but occulus go is cheap as chips, as a casual gamer who watches heaps of movies I thinks its a great idea. Bidding on one now on eBay.
Such an amazing review, I got it pre-ordered and u convinced me that I have not made a mistake
Ordered *
Thanks Yazan! Enjoy your Go mate []-)
Great editing Mike. You convinced me to check and BestBuy chain store here in California has the Oculus Go so I jumped down there and picked one up. Absolutely love it! Thanks for the motivation!
Ah awesome mate! I'm glad you're enjoying it. I have loads of Go videos coming soon []-)
I think I'll give it a try, I have a Vive and PSVR but I hate cables (considering getting tpcast for my vive) but this seems an ideal portable alternative
The Go is a great headset. Ideal for social experiences and consuming media content []-)
Nice breakdown. Keep it up!
Thanks Will []-)
Great Work ! i really like your video Oasis and i really like oculus go rather than anyother vr device as i will buy this very soon ...onething i really need to say watching movie in vr specially in cinevr app was a great experience and a immersive treat if cinevr creator could install some app like youtube, netflix etc in cinevr app could be more immersive bcoz watching netflix series in theatre with spatial sound will add some mindblowing experience.
Brilliant video I subscribed. Are all them your vr headsets?
quest 2 has entered the chat
Looks awesome Mike!
Thanks PD! []-)
2018: go is here
2020: go is discontinued
IKR
Hey Mike, this was almost 2 years ago... what's your view on this now? Would you still recommend this as a neat standalone to watch Netflix and all, or are there other, maybe better alternatives? And which storage would you advise?
Quest is the way to go now if you’re buying a standalone headset but the Go is great if you just want to watch movie content and you’re not that interested in games []-)
@@VirtualRealityOasis I already have the Rift S, but that needs to be hooked up to a computer. Thought maybe the Go was a nice cheap alternative like you mentioned to take with me on travels.
Funny you say that why does it take me two days to just get the Wi-Fi and phone Bluetooth in👏🤔
Hello Mike great unboxing and set up video for the oculus go I would deftly like to see the video of you rowdy guy anda nathie using oculus rooms with that experiences like in the future have a great day.
I do really want to do an Oculus Rooms gameplay video []-)
The S in Fresnel is silent. It's named after a French guy.
Cheers mate []-)
Not anymore.
OCULUS QUEST
Hey I love your videos!!!!!
Best headset I’ve ever got
0:29 how many staircases do you have?
I have PSVR, Rift, Asus MR and now Oculus Go. The flight simulators and games on the Go are so amazing (above PSVR and just below MR) I would not have bought a VR PC nor PSVR.
Nice! Which flight sims are you playing on Go? I would love to know what you’d recommend []-)
UltraWings and Overflight (It has recently been updated with incredible campaign mode)
Wait what? Those are not simulators bro... :D Try DCS World or War Thunder in simulator mode. With hotas. Those are VR flight sims!
Utrawings has true simulator physic (if you activate it in the option) and is very comparable to other flight sim in term of physic, it is just more fun. DCS is just dogfight, nothing else to do.
Try VTOL on the PC
I bought this hoping to be an upgrade of my VR Gear, it is not. No dioptric adjustment, worse light bleed, less viewing angle and heavier. Plus you have to pair it with a phone to even make it work at the start. Beware, the 32GB version only has 22GB of usable memory. Speakers were excellent though.
I had an oculus go for like 2weeks and then i found this
