I'm of the opinion that earth is the ghetto of the galaxy, where traveling aliens wind their windows up and try not to make eye contact when they pass by.
Anyone remember the 1951 film 'The Day The Earth stood still' ? In the last scene, Klatu told the world leaders, "I am not here to help you resolve your petty problems. I am an envoy, I am here to give you a message. Do not come out here, and bring your aggression. We will turn your planet into a burning cinder." I find that old film to be very prophetic.
We are a self absorbed and think we are the big fish. If there is intelligent life out there and finds us, we will find out we are nothing and at the mercy of a more advanced civilization. In only 250 years, we could battle every war with an army of 25 people. And they may never step foot on a battlefield. A civilization that is thousands or millions yrs advanced, would laugh at our aggression and hostility.
I don't know if it's wise for us to be looking for other forms of life. Especially when we are not even able to get along with each other, with ourselves.

In 1976 in the UK, when I was aged 8 we were experiencing an amazing summer. I was out playing with friends. A crystal clear, blue sky. We saw a white object high up in the atmosphere and it descended, becoming larger. We all saw it. It was what we now would call a "tic tac". No noise from it, no vapour trail, no wings. I would estimate it descended to about a thousand feet and was clear as anything. The same shape as a tic tac but what has struck me since then are two things in addition to the aforementioned. One: It was perfectly smooth and white, looked like it was made of porcelain, just like the porcelain they make toilets out of with no rivets, bonds or joins. Two: After floating above us for about 20 seconds it shot up with incredible speed. It just zipped out of there like a bullet from a standing start. Incredible. I know what I saw. It was not from this planet for sure.
I've also seen a flying Saucer in Arizona. literally the size of a football field. at an altitude of 500 meters high in the middle of the desert. I drove there with my car. on a desert road. that thing followed me for half an hour. and became with purple lights scanning my car. i was scared as hell. I filmed it .but later there was nothing on it. I also had first degree burns. I know what I've seen. and it does not come from this earth. he also shot like a bullet within seconds back into the clearing universe between the stars. There are 200 billion stars with planets in our own galaxy alone. and there are at least 200 billion galaxy, there is even one galaxy the IC 1101 Diameter 5.5 million light years with 100 trillion stars. Let's face it, it's impossible that life is possible on Earth alone. the problem that we don't find aliens is . the distances in light years are even if you can travel at 300,000 Km per second. it still takes you 100th 1000th million years to get to our neighbor proxima centauri 4.3 light years travel. I believe with all my heart that we are not alone. and the aliens who have been visiting us for 1000 years are local extraterrestrials. who live near us for up to 10 light years. It's not very likely, I don't think, that there is another civilization in our galaxy at the same time our species exists. Perhaps, we can find some evidence that someone was roaming around some solar system near us, that would still be the greatest discovery of all time.

My father was an engineer on the telescope for SETI in PR. He worked on other NASA projects before he left to work with White Sands Missile Range. I think the woman at the 11:00 min mark is the woman that the movie “Contact” was based on. I could be wrong. Anyway, my father brought home the most amazing telescopes. I wish everyone could experience what I did and see what I saw. I believe that if only one planet, in every galaxy, has intelligent life then we have hundreds of millions of planets with intelligent life. It’s not a question of “if”, it’s a question of “how many”. Imagine….❤

No we won’t. Here on earth we can say don’t capture these animals and people will still do because it is accessible, but space travel is just different it will run by smart people like Elon.
The only way they could do that is if an extraterrestrial spacecraft would crash somewhere, because if they would land here to make contact with us I don't think they would let us catch them and even if they would catch an alien they would literally destroy us especially with their technology that is thousands or even million years ahead of us. Cant speak for Aliens but Humans treat animals based on there intelligence capability....We elephant, or dolphin, or ape differently then we would an earth worm, cockroach, field mouse ext.....If we found what we would consider a intellecual peer to us that would be a different form of treatment as well. You dont treat your peers the same way you do your dog as an example. You might enjoy both your dog and your coworkers company....but you treat them differently because of there difference in intellect....The biggest two questions would be how capable we identify the aliens to us, and perhaps more importantly, how do they view our intelligence or capability to themselves. Common sense would dictate that its more likely the smarter species would be the one making the introduction and the less smarter species would be the one recieving company from other visitors.

Years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Seth Shostak and also had the opportunity to ask him some questions. He's a very nice, genuine, and humble sort of guy. In fact, he is the reason why I enjoy donating to the Seti Institute. The work they do, in my opinion, is some of the most important research being performed today.

Sometimes for sport, sometimes for territory, sometimes for resources. We form complicates tribes with various different ideologies. We are charismatic and easy to manipulate. However we don’t function as a hive mind, and we aren’t submissive, which means enslaving us or trying to talk peace won’t always be easy. We are so unpredictable that simply slamming the lid shut and running away would be a better solution. Extra-terrestrials treat us like an infectious, insane disease. They’re right to do so.

Finding a planet with life on like earth, is like finding a specific signed grain of sand on 1 of earth's beaches or in the depths of one of our oceans and saying go find it with no clues to what beach/ocean/country it was hidden in/on and then making it a billion times harder by spacing out each grain of sand light years apart without oxygen, water or food. isn't it obvious why? you need antennae to capture the signals, you'd need them all over the world, such you have no blind spots, then computers to analyse the signals and discriminate it from noise, maybe decode it, if it ever gets received. Also there's need for money to pay for the massive amounts of electricity needed for all the equipment, but also their operators and designers need pay as well. the truth is that ET could transmit at this moment and there would be no way of detecting it, SETI got only to mere percents of the funding it needed.

In 1976 in the UK, when I was aged 8 we were experiencing an amazing summer. I was out playing with friends. A crystal clear, blue sky. We saw a white object high up in the atmosphere and it descended, becoming larger. We all saw it. It was what we now would call a "tic tac". No noise from it, no vapour trail, no wings. I would estimate it descended to about a thousand feet and was clear as anything. The same shape as a tic tac but what has struck me since then are two things in addition to the aforementioned. One: It was perfectly smooth and white, looked like it was made of porcelain, just like the porcelain they make toilets out of with no rivets, bonds or joins. Two: After floating above us for about 20 seconds it shot up with incredible speed. It just zipped out of there like a bullet from a standing start. Incredible. I know what I saw. It was not from this planet for sure.

Cant speak for Aliens but Humans treat animals based on there intelligence capability....We elephant, or dolphin, or ape differently then we would an earth worm, cockroach, field mouse ext.....If we found what we would consider a intellecual peer to us that would be a different form of treatment as well. You dont treat your peers the same way you do your dog as an example.
