Just wanted to say thanks. As a retired USMC/USAF and not wealthy, you made it possible for me to have breaks. We have a 2014 Ram and now the job is complete. The folks in your town are very lucky to have a good man to work on their vehicles. God Bless.
Thanks! We followed your steps and all went well except removing the rotor. After about 30 minutes of unsuccessful hammering, we found another youtube suggesting we put a bolt thru the back bracket hole, with a nut between the bracket hole and rotor, and then push the rotor out from the back - pushing and then loosening, spinning the rotor and pushing again - around the whole rotor. Only took about 5 minutes to pop it out. Thanks again so much!
About to do my 2014 Ram front brakes. You're awesome Jim. Was able to do many other jobs on vehicles with your terrific videos. Keep going! Regards from Calgary Canada!!
Great instruction. Very clear and easy to follow. No, "I know everything" stuff either. Only what I need to know. Wish I could come to you for all my other work. Thanks
Hey Jim,I had not did brakes since the 1990’s and your video was a BIG HELP and wanted to say thank you.Unfortanetly I paid a local shop to do it 10 months ago and my rotors were chewed up and upon doing it myself I noticed they DID NOT pull the slide pins and lube them and they were bone dry on both sides and the pads seized on the rotors and fried them and I’ll never take it to them again.I actually thought I had a bad hub bearing but it was the brakes that were toast.Had to pay twice within a year but now I did it right .No thanks to the local shop .lesson learned and thanks again .
Thanks! It’s just common sense stuff, but I watched just to be sure there weren’t any tricks I should know about. You’re a really good teacher, slow and thorough, with a voice that reminds me of my HS shop teacher.
Very good video, good tutorial. I used to change my brakes on my own vehicles in the past but I was little nervous about bigger and most expensive truck. It is a good thing I stopped by, I noticed I was making stuff wrong all these years. Thank you!
Great video I enjoyed watching. Not my first brake job but still a benefit to see how you do it. Your calm demeanor and experienced approach makes for a great video. Thanks again
Thanks for the video! I watched it twice in the past few weeks before I attempted to replace my front rotors and pads on my 2013 this past weekend. I got stuck on one thing though. With only having the truck on the jack and not being able to safely get under it, I wasn't able to break the bolts on the caliper adapter (bracket) even with my breaker bar (which barely fit inside the wheel well. I called my bro-in-law who's more of a mechanic than I am and he took a look at it and then grabbed a scrap piece of hardwood I had in my garage - we were able to position the breaker bar in such a way that we could use the wood jammed against a solid piece of the frame (crossmember I suppose) and lever it against the breaker bar. We used the same technique but with a different lever point to torgue the bolts when we reinstalled them. Other than that hiccup everything went as I expected thanks to your video. I think the 2nd side only took about 15 minutes start to finish.
Great job.Sometimes the bolt get very rusty . At the shop when that happens I do have a 4 ft pipe to use with the breaker bar That was using your head to figure out how to get it off using leverage..
Thanks Jim! Excellent video! I've never worked on brakes before, but, with your video, I was able to change my brakes on my Ram 1500 with no problem. Thanks again!
Jim, I'd personally relocate just so you could maintain my '15 Ram. I'm in the market to chngng all four rotor/brakes to slotted rotor brake kit, so a very big THANK YOU for this vid; God bless😊👍
I've done about a dozen brake jobs. I appreciate the refresher especially since it was my first time with my 2015 RAM. What was interesting is that the truck has 35K miles on it and the front brakes were pulsing badly. You'd think the pads were shot. When I pull off the tire the pads were not even half worn, but the rotors looked like hell. Might have been able to reuse the pads. Still replaced both rotors and pads following your instructions to the letter. Thanks!!!!
Great video excellent instructions thanks. I k ow you know of this but just want to pass it on to your viewers to use break grease not regular grease. Regular grease will turn to liguid when heated up. Thanks again for the video. Keep up the good work.
I finish my brake pad replacement yesterday and I rewatch this video again... I realize the clip I put on did not push to release the pad out... now I have redo it again.... hopefully u guy don’t have to make the same mistake like I did.... this is great video thank you
Jim another great video. Love how you explain the steps and why. My experience with brakes and rotors has been interesting.. BTW, i love the what is this used for videos. I do remember using some of those tools..
Thanks Jim! I know NOTHING about mechanic work but after watching your video I'm gonna step it up to change the brake pads to my 2014 RAM 1500, im getting a really loud rear squickie noise so im guessing its time for a brake pad change, im guessing the same procedure applies to the rear ones right jim? I really appreciate the advice! Thank you so much and God Bless you Sir!
Thank you so very much for explaining everything in such great detail. "Don't bust your coconuts..!" This could have been very boring, thanks for your charisma! 😉
Appreciate the video Jim, very informative. I noticed on that Ram they have air suspension.....just a quick side note that it's important to put the truck into tire jack mode to disable the air suspension before starting.
Thank you for giving me the confidence to do this myself and do it Right. Just one question... Can you tell me the tourque settings on the two pair of bolts? Thank You!
Thanks for the great video, I just had to do the same on a 2010 canyon, it's the worst front brake setup I ever saw. Next truck will be a Ram. That and recurrent computer-related issues made me change my mind...
Great post man. I haven't changed brakes since doing a 68 Chrysler back in high school. Military kinda kept me busy. My question is...My Ram is a 4WD. Is there a difference between the one in the video and a 4WD? I couldn't tell if that was a 2 or 4WD you were working on. I'd sure like to get back in the game!
Hey Jim, thanks for the video. Im about to change the brakes on my 2013 Ram and this has been very helpful, but I have a quick question. What socket sizes did you need for each of the different bolts (caliper, mounting bracket etc.) Want to make sure I have everything I need before I get started.
Great Video, very useful. I'm going to change my rotors on a 2015 Ram 1500 128,000 miles so I hope it's the same. One question is it necessary to to remove brake filler cap while compressing cal. pistons?
I see no changes to 2015 model, I got rotors turn to that bad and brake pad look like they could have went another 100k but brake pedal was pulsating a little on hard braking. after replacing pads and turning rotors no problems. thanks again.
I'm doing front and back pads and rotors on a 2013 Ram 1500, should I wait until I'm done on all 4 to pump the brakes? Thank you and your videos are really helpful.
Jim hey I have a newer ram 3500 and I am wanting to replace my brake pads on the front of my ram I do a bunch of towing what brake pads would you recommend? Thank you
Sir i have a question i just did mines but the pedal is goin donw when i live it press i already drying the system two time and i still have the same problem the truck stops perfect but if i live the feet on the pedal de pedal goes donw.someone toll me that i need to take it to a shop and put the car in a computer so the can take the air out of the system with a computer is this so

It is sad that you just can't trust some shops any more. Great job. Thanks for watching.
Thanks! It’s just common sense stuff, but I watched just to be sure there weren’t any tricks I should know about. You’re a really good teacher, slow and thorough, with a voice that reminds me of my HS shop teacher.
This is the best video I've seen so far on this subject. Great tips and attention to details (which are important!).
Very good video, good tutorial. I used to change my brakes on my own vehicles in the past but I was little nervous about bigger and most expensive truck. It is a good thing I stopped by, I noticed I was making stuff wrong all these years. Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I just got quoted $1800 for a brake job,and after watching this I'm confident I can do it on my own. Thanks man 🤙🏻
I'm happy to help. Thanks for watching. Don't forget to hit the bell for notifications when a new video is posted.
I wouldn't want anyone less than OCD working on my vehicles. You're very thorough and treat it like it was your own.
Thanks for stopping by.

Great Video! I’m gonna be doing my 2500 Ram and this was perfect step by step.... it’s nice to see an honest mechanic 👍
Thanks Jim! Excellent video! I've never worked on brakes before, but, with your video, I was able to change my brakes on my Ram 1500 with no problem. Thanks again!

Great video. I've done brake jobs on my Rams before, but a little refresher is good for the confidence
Nice video, you obviously have the temperament for detailed instructions. Learned a bunch. Thank you.

Literally going through the same thing with my '16. Brake kit should be in this week then it's all getting swapped out for EBC parts.
Weird I have a 2015 Ram. 81000 miles on it and my brakes are just getting there. My rotors just started taking wear
Man, this is the top-notch version. Thanks!
Thank you for watching . I'm happy to help.
Thank you, your video was very helpful. I changes out the pads, and rotors on my truck, took less than 2 hours from start to finish.

This is the best instructional video I ever seen it was like you were reading my mind and answer all questions I had, thanks!!!
Awesome, comprehensive video. Thanks so much. It's always nice seeing it done all the way through before going in on your vehicle.

This video was perfect! thank you so much! I was curious if you had the torque spec for the two bolts that secure the caliper mounting bracket?
Thanks for the great video, I just had to do the same on a 2010 canyon, it's the worst front brake setup I ever saw. Next truck will be a Ram. That and recurrent computer-related issues made me change my mind...
Great video, but what was the torque weight for the bolts ?
Great post man. I haven't changed brakes since doing a 68 Chrysler back in high school. Military kinda kept me busy. My question is...My Ram is a 4WD. Is there a difference between the one in the video and a 4WD? I couldn't tell if that was a 2 or 4WD you were working on. I'd sure like to get back in the game!
Good question. Actually the one in the video was a all wheel drive. If you need any advice let me know. Thank you for watching

Great suggestion. Thanks for watching.
Hey Jim, thanks for the video. Im about to change the brakes on my 2013 Ram and this has been very helpful, but I have a quick question. What socket sizes did you need for each of the different bolts (caliper, mounting bracket etc.) Want to make sure I have everything I need before I get started.
Thanks for the great video Jim. I have the identical truck, including color!

I have a 2018 Ram 2500. Would it be essentially the same for my truck?

Does brake resovor tools work to remove air in your brakesv?brakes?? Are they worth the investment.

Great Video, very useful. I'm going to change my rotors on a 2015 Ram 1500 128,000 miles so I hope it's the same. One question is it necessary to to remove brake filler cap while compressing cal. pistons?
No need to open the cap unless the master cyl is over filled.Thank you for your input and for watching
