i just discovered ur channel and i don’t usually comment on yt vids but i wanted to let you know you inspired me so much!! your videos are also so calming and your pieces look so beautiful like you’re so talented!! 🤍 i look forward to more content you put out 💞
i love the matching set you made! i really want to make one too (some day after making all my other project ideas and finishing my wips...) and thank you for saying the word keyhole, i was literally thinking for days, but i couldn't think of the name. because i want to make a top with a keyhole on the back, so i wanted to look up some reference pics
I also have a whole list of potential projects in my brain I can't keep up!! and there's always so much terminology to keep up with all the time haha sometimes I'll google the funniest things to get reference photos! thanks for watching
A little tip to find out how much fabric you need for shirring. Take 1 cm of the elastic and see how much it can strecht. If the streched elastic is 1.5 cm, for example, it means that it strechtes by 50%. Then just take your normal measurements and add the percentage that your elastic stretches to your fabric length. For example you have a bust measurement of 90cm, add 50% of the 90cm (45cm) to it, so in total it is 135cm. This is the amount of fabric you need. This works because when shirring you strecht the elasict while sewing to its full streched length and by determining the percentage of strecht it has, you will find out how much the fabric shrinks when the elastic is not streched. Maybe add a couple of centimeters for seam allowance. But in general this works very well. I recommend to do this test everytime you get new elastic, since sometimes, even if it is supposed to have the same strecht, it doesn't. I hope this helps and is understandable since english is not my first language.😊 Habe a wonderful day everyone 🥰
wow thank you so much for the thorough explanation!! I always kind of eyeball it so I never know how to explain it to others. I have experienced different elastics having different "stretchiness" so this sounds like such a great method for determining how much fabric you'll need!! thanks so much for the tip and thank you for watching :)
Thank you!! They are from hip optical (Kiro frames in the bongo colorway) I linked them in the description if you want to check them out they have so many cute styles :)
