thank you, you speak clearly and you don't have a reflection on the screen or your fingers blocking the way-- like EVERYone else and then i get so stressed just trying to follow. Good job i'm so grateful for this!
Hi, thanks a lot for your video which helped me but what about the focal length please ? When my Canon 600EX is on my Canon camera, the focal length is moving on the flash the same as on my lense but with the STE3RT transmitter, il doesn't follow the focal length lense moves . Is it normal ? Thanks in advance.
Ryan.. thank you for sharing with all of us. I have a question... Do you know if I can set this unit on my camera and trigger a studio strobe that has the 3 little slider with numbers.... 1-2-3. Just to trigger it. Thank you in advance. Daniel
Hi Daniel, As far as I know, probably not. That's not to say it wouldn't work. For strobes, I use the Godox AD600BM's and have a specific Godox trigger for those.
The "E" in ETTL stands for Evaluative, not Electronic. The other thing to not is this . . .to say you will use ETTL auto flash rarely is simply not true. It's a terrific system and very accurate based on knowing how the camera's meter works. Manual is certainly a very consistent method of obtaining exact output from one shot to the next but it's not necessarily the best way. It depends on what you're shooting.
I own a Canon 600 EX - RT Speedlight and i set it up at 105 mm yet every time i turn the speedlight off it goes back to 24 mm .. how do i set the speedlight up at 105mm so its fixed at that setting all the time ?
My friend and I were trying to set up his 70D pop up flash to optically trigger the FK600EX-RT which is an off brand speedlight that is suppose to work just like the Canon version. We tried every thing to get it to work. SO the "lightning bolt" in the upper right corner is OPTICAL?
Ryan Flower Photography, my questions are the following: 1. Have two 600EX-RT Speedlites One on camera with N3 Cable, set as ATG wireless radio Master Second as handhold able remote radio flash trigger. How do you turn off or disabled the ATG AF Assist Beam from blinking all the time? 2. Under Linked Shot, both flashes have Green Link light On, Linked Shot on LCD On camera is set at Master Second flash used as a remote (Slave) Again, both flashes are showing GREEN "LINK" Pressed the Shutter Button, only the on camera goes off. Why the ATG wireless radio SLAVE didn't go off? The same problems using 600EX II-RT. I had no problem getting to work on the ATG Gold 600EX-RT 1K. What is awesome on the ATG over the Canon, is it can shoot remote in "C' continue and has a range of 1,000 feet while the Canon OEM flailed baldly.
6 Years later and your video still helped me. Thanks!
Glad it did. You are welcome.

Ryan - GREAT job simplifying this set up. In less than 3 minutes, it was working. Thanks!

Have two rt600’s and wonder if this canon transmitters also manage hyper synch the way pocket wizzard ttl5’s and AC3’s do?
Hey Ryan, you said you have the video of this for the 430 EX III RT, can you provide link?
Which transmitter is that? Also, can I use off brand transmitters like Godox?
It's the Canon ST-E3-RT trigger. I believe off brand triggers like Godox won't trigger Canon flashes.

Yesterday I bought a used one … but, it connects and after taking about 10 photos it disconnects,,, why is it!?
has new 🔋 batteries
Might be worth doing a reset of both trigger and flash to see if that helps. Otherwise, talk to Canon who will probably suggest a service or repair.
